In case you hadn't noticed yet, this is not exactly a speed game. That it is slow works very well for me, as I certainly can't log in multiple times per day with my work schedule.
I think this has suggested in one of the Suggestion topics before. You may want to check there and add to that thread.
Contacting support is probably the option in your case.

Your General doesn't get killed, just wounded when he loses. For a normal General that means a recovery time of 4 hours. He will retreat once all of the troops in his command are killed.
For 26/12/11 it is a known issue, there is a thread here addressing the problem.
I will add to this thread. I had just cleaned my cache, as well as my cookies, and temp internet files before logging on and I still got the message. Cleaned again, got the same message.

The game gives 24 hours for a trade to be completed. If the person you are trading with does not accept or decline after 24 hours your goods will be returned to you. If the goods will not fit back...
