    [Guide] Silo Test/Information

I am starting a test of the silos available for Halloween to see how much I can have them taking care for for me. This will take awhile so feel free to check back for updates.

I am going to start with the following:

    5 - level 4 farms
    2 - level 3 farms
    10 - level 1 fields
    3 - level 2 silos (initially asleep)

I'm going to turn the farms on and run them until empty to get the initial timing. I will then turn on the silos and do a timing with all three. I had upgraded 2 to level 2 already and will upgrade the other before the test with them. Let's face it, no one will use level 1 silos for very long so I'll just skip to level 2. I've attached a picture of my area.

This will change and ultimately become some sort of guide, but we have to get through testing first.

    Initial Test w/ No Silos:
    Start Time: 11:30pm 10/22/2011 (CST)
    End Time: 3:09pm 10/23/2011 estimate 3:00pm 10/23/2011
Total Time without silos: 16Hrs 39Min

Test with Silos: (3 lvl 2)
    Start Time: 3:21pm 10/23/2011
    End Time: 11:46am 10/24/2011
Total Time with silos: 21Hrs 25Min

All times are based on assumptions.. Mileage will vary based on placement...

    Initial Calculations:

5 - Level 4 farms will produce 100 wheat an hour on average
2 - Level 3 farms will produce 30 wheat an hour

    10 - Level 1 farms start with 200 wheat so 10x200 = 2000 wheat

    so

2000 wheat / 120 wheat and hour = 16.67 hours to depletion (calc was wrong. It is 120 an hour not 130)..

    Silo calculation

A level 2 silo will reseed 2 per ~13 minutes on my setup.
    So 3 Level 2 Silos x 2 seeds per 13 minutes = 6 seeds per 13 minutes.

The are 4.6 13 minutes times in a hour.
So 4.6 times there will be 6 seeds planted = 27.6 seeds planted an hour

Wow. Level 2 won't even come close to cutting it. Level 4 would be 55 an hour. 5 level 4 silos wound be 92 an hour. And you can always buff...

It's 11:15pm and I have 384 wheat left in 3 fields. Based on the end time, and I want a true end time, I am restarting now and it should go until tomorrow afternoon.

Of course the purpose of this is not to have a never ending supply of wheat fields, but to limit how often you have to rebuild.

What happens if U uninstall a silo level 3? Does it go back to a level 1 when U move it?

Toy4x4 - Why are you testing this? Lvl 1 Silo will satisfy a lvl 1 Farm, lvl 2 silo will satisfy two lvl 1 farms, and so on. I'm just curious behind the method of why your doing this.

Silos are best paired on a 1 to 1 ratio with Farms. They have the same production times as farms. Best thing is to lay a strip of farms in a straight line with a storehouse in the center of the line. Then run a line of farms on one side and a line of silos on the other. This will match the production times evenly, and you WILL NEVER HAVE TO REPLACE A FIELD AGAIN!
