More fish = more buffing plates!!!
Send your explorer to find treasure!!!
When your out of buffs and a building needs attention, cic on it-put it to sleep then chic it awake
BATTLE: if you can take out all the army using cavalry at the beginning, u won't loose any units or combine w/ other units to reduce loss
Dont build wildly, it will eventualy cause you the inability to build anything.
Whisper Garen, u wont go down the wrong path. @.@
other than that... Remember to keep the number of ur stone marson = 2 time amount of fir wood cutter early game. That would allow u a balanced eco and progress much faster.
Settlers enter any building , workfield from the south east side, so your main aim is to make sure that direction is closet to the storehouse/mayor house.
DO NOT BUY stuffs from trade channel ( unless u can be sure it's a good price) . Most of people are willing to sell at a lower price if u ask directly or ask on chat, because posting an offer which expires in 5 minutes is too much of a hassle.
Spaming in chat asking for fish plate buffs is good on first day, but on the 2nd day onward, u probaly better off upgrade fisheries and self buff, since it still give u good profit if u dont have that much time online.
IMPORTANCE: never let free building license. FIR wood related buildings only cost 10 tools to build, hence always try to put them up to get a quick return. They tend to pay back themsevles in about 3-5 hours which is less than an average night sleep.
Save ur gold to buy a 2nd explorer right away. U may think the rewards are too low but it get crazy good at lvl 20. So why wait?
Spam add friends on high lvl people, some of them are quite nice and dont mind it. U can take a look at their town ( many of them have crappy inefficient towns btw) to look at them as reference for both good and bad points, so u can avoid or copy it for ur own littlel towns.
if u want to ignore someone, type /help it will list all the commands. Some trolls are better to be removed out of everyone's life, but u cant really kill them off as it is illegal and unethical.... LOL
Last tip : avoid sensitive words, some may argue that if people cant take it up then get off the internet but i totally disagree with this. If they think that they can troll/talk **** freely on the internet then i doubt they are any good in their real life. They are probaly some cowards who cant solve their own problems in real life and take it out on peeps who just want to have some funs in their free time on the net. @.@
upgrade wells at least to lvl 2 every time they deplete. they only cost tools. Of course this assumes you already have a tool maker :P
Fish Buffing:
If your fishery is level one you will not get any more fish by buffing. It will cost you at least one fish for each extra fish. So you end up with no extra fish since it cost you one fish to get each fish. The only time it is worth buffing a fishery is if it is level 2 or higher.
Pro Tips: The Do's and Don'ts of Castle Empire
Don't trade your gold for basic resources and raw materials. Its much more valuable and necessary later. Just be patient, buff your buildings often, and improve your production chains.
Never waste valuable resources upgrading residential houses. Once you reach level 19 the Noble Residence can be built at a fraction of the cost. Additionally, you can use gems to buy a Noble Residence deed (+30 pop.) from the shop menu and is probably the best value in there!
Always keep your explorer(s) busy. An idle explorer is a costly waste. He finds valuable resources to boost your economy with every treasure hunt!
Consider carefully before placing buildings. Only production buildings should be built around your store houses and mayor's house. Buildings such as the barracks, residences, trade branch office should be built out away from production chains since they waste a lot of space and do not function based on production times for efficiency.
Review production chain before upgrading within it. While it is always a good thing to upgrade production buildings and free up building licenses, be sure to account for the added increase in the raw materials it will use as well. For example, when you upgrade a weaponsmith, it will double the # of weapons produced during the same overall production cycle, but will also require double the materials. Without enough resources to support this function, the upgrade will not benefit you since your production chain will be idle half the time.
get a friend and use bluffs on each other
they will last longer that way
The first chance you get, upgrade your marble and hardwood. Then depending on your playing style either: Economical, upgrade your provision house so that your resource trade-ins (250 stone for 50 marble, 250 firwood planks for 50 hardwood) only takes 15 min instead of 30. Also speeds up settler gathering. Or if Military, upgrade your barracks so that all soldier recruiting time is cut in half. A
Also, don't waste resources on upgrading houses, use all spare licences for building lvl 1 houses and when you reach lvl 19, tear them down and build noble house. tripple the capacity, less resources
EARLY GAME TIPS
Focus on building close to resources AND warehouses (your mayors house counts as a warehouse)
If something doesn't seem right in the game. Strange amounts of a resource, or chat box not showing up, try logging out then back in again. Fixes almost everything.
Early game players should use their gems on Noble Residences. They only cost 65 gems and free up a huge amount of building licensses early game.
Your first upgrade should be a building from the lowest level resources like a stone mason or a fisher. using it on a weaponsmith only increases your need for copper smelters and will overall deplete your building licenses needlessly as well as limiting your options.
MID GAME TIPS
The two best practices in this game for gathering resources FAST are trade, and buff exchanges.
When you get access to marble and hardwood, focus on marble, then when you get a trader, trade 1:1 marble to hardwood planks. A good hardwood production takes many more buildings than Marble, but on the trader, they are treated as equals in value. So you can save more building licenses by focusing on marble and using the trader to get hardwood.
Most people using the trader are trying to take advantage of you. For instance, you shouldn't trade away your gold unless you absolutely have to. You don't get more gold unless you complete a quest or raid bandit camps or you reach level 23!!! Gold is the highest value trade resource and most people will do anything to get it from you.
Don't wait for your friends to ask for a buff exchange. Bug and nag each one of them until you find 1 or more reliable buffing partner who is willing to exchange buffs with you all day long without having to be asked. Just make sure you buff him just as much or more than he does you. Otherwise you will fall behind.
A dedicated bow maker isn't necessary. Once you have the trader, trade for bows. Quite a few people have an excess of bows and are happy to trade them.
Build Residence AWAY from mayors house or Storehouses,Keep your producing buildings close to store house and mayors house.Cuts production time if distance to storage to get needed material to make sometime...Example: wood to make Coke
if you find you have built to many of some thing instead of distroying it, just stop production, then you can restart as you need the production.
Start with an IDEA of what your village is going to look. This will help the game go much fast.
Start by FRIENDING pro plyers and get help from them .Everyone is willing to help
Pro Tip: DO not stack units in the barracks unless you are prepared to wait for the stack to complete before using any.
Same goes for buffs.
In the beginning of the game a novice player is given rather significant amount of golden coins. If the pace of the game is a secondary goal, it may be a good strategy to save the gold coins for later on to upgrade more advanced structures.
Build residences away from your storehouses!
Save that space for a production building where distance to storehouse lowers production time. :D
Wow... awesome advice everyone! It's nice to see how everyone is doing their best to help. :)
Make sure to upgrade your buildings in the proper order! Start from the bottom of a production tree and work your way up, don't rely upon fish buffs.
level 18 wish i had read this earler
Do not spend your gems on resources. Wait for resources, your gems have better uses.
Do not waste your gold. There is a very limited amount so far in the beta. I would only use it to upgrade buildings and MAYBE buy another geologist or explorer.
Upgrade from the bottom up, and buff from the top down. When a building is upgraded the first time it will produce 2x as much but it will also consume 2x as many resources. When a building is buffed its production is doubled without a change in resource consumption. So the deeper in the production chain the more net production your getting.
There are more resource deposits than you know.
You are allowed X number of Iron deposits, for example. Yet there may be more than that available. You geologist will come back saying you have too many of that type.
To uncover these 'hidden' sources, leave your mine collapsed without destroying it. Then send out your geologist to look for that resource. He will find one in a spot that he could not reveal before when you were at your limit.
Sometimes this will open a resource in a better location.
Don't stray from what the tutorial tells you to do. It will greatly hinder your progress and possibly set you back a few days if you just build random buildings.
pro tip: If your roomate plays castle empires on the same router...Give him a fluffy unicorn. Make it a good and fluffy unicorn. I want CNN headlines on how magical this creature is. ;)

Whenever possible, use up all your building licenses. Before you go to sleep use all your extra licenses on cheap gathering buildings or copper mines, even if you don't intend to keep them in the long run.
Most important tip... USE YOUR GOLD ON BUILDING UPGRADES NOT TRADES
You can refill your fish and meat resources with multiple thousands of fish and meat.
Once you get around level 20+ you will begin facing medium camps with dogs. They are sort of a game changer when it comes to strategy, because they target your weakest units (archers). The best of doing this is attacking with as many recruits as their are dogs (well a few more). For example, if there's 60 dogs, first attack with an army of just 70 recruits. You'll lose these recruits but will kill the dogs. Then you want to attack with your real army!
Tip 5: if you start making bread store most of it for making villagers. Sandwiches are cool but fish plates are cheaper. Later when you are making more beer and weapons you will be waiting on villagers, this is the time to use the bread to attract the bandits.
Building Licenses are a resource like anything else, Use them!
I always keep one available but when I log off for the night I will even use that for one extra fir wood forester.
Remember, A license in your menu bar produces absolutely nothing!
upgrade your mayor house for storage capacity instead of other small storage house - it will gives you around 1k+ more storage (1st upgrade)
As we all know, Kate is one busy CEM, so I agreed to list out the participants of this challenge in the order their inital entry appears (only one entry per person for the contest was counted).

LadyTerra, thanks so much for listing these out! It was a huge, huge help!
As most of you know, this is one of my favorite threads on the forums. It is where the community can come and learn about all the things that the players before them have discovered.
I want to thank everyone for helping the NOOBILITY of Castle Empire. For that, I give EVERYONE who participated in this epic thread 50 Gems. Lets face it, you all deserve it. Picking winners would be too hard.
Congrats everyone who participated!
