I know that this thread is now closed, but I must post one more tip. If you connect your account to facebook....be VERY careful that you dont delete the app. If you do so, you must follow the auto generated email for changing your password, etc etc. Thank you tech support for your help and extremely quick turn around replies!!!!

Top 3 things to know for new players

1) After basic production buildings are in place focus on fishers(bakeries later and then butchers)and being able to make good amounts of buffs for swapping(double resource production should be a no brainer)

2) Save ALL gold until you have enough to buy a 2nd explorer. He pays off big time for extra resrouces and advancing faster in the game, especially once you can send both on medium treasure hunts.

3) Don't level up any residences as once you can build noble houses they can all by demolished and replaced by them. Regular residence is only 10 population starting, nobles are 30 and will save on licenses so until you can build nobles just make more residences at level 1s for population and grind it out until the nobles become available.

You send your explorer out to explore the area.

I thought trees where designated there own areas and can not take over areas meant for buildings?

You are correct, trees can only be planted only in certain areas.
