Man this is a very hard question because I want multiple things lol but if I have to choose it would be the stats windowe. I'm a stat freak and it would occupy my time while waiting for beer to be made!
Others I would like-Grid for Building , Empire Wipe Button and Faster Resource Gathering
PvP is the only thing games offer that keeps me interested long term I've found.
Grid for Building I would like, but only should show when placing buildings though
choose other= all of the above? :D hahahaha
but economic statistic window -> this is highest priority (it will include like: how many buildings u have, n what they produce.. etc2 right?)
I would like both pvp and an economic statistic window (but I could only vote for one, so I picked PvP).
Will be great if we can get all of the above but imho these 3 are absolute requirement
PVP>Economic statistics>faster resource gathering
Thanks.
This is hard...cause there are a couple things. I voted for Faster Resources...but I also would LOVE PVP, a Econ Stat window and a building grid.
There is no Economic Status Window, so that wouldn't be a change that would be an addition, so you can exclude that from the poll.
That should also make the #1 change Faster Resource Production not Gathering. Gathering time is fine. I firmly believe that if you would decrease production time for everything that will change the whole game and peoples perspective on it being so sluggish. Not to mention a larger/more repetitive incentive to purchase gems by making it less tedious and mind numbing.
I would like to see a change in the damage of bandits. Early levels leave you completely stuck for at least 4 days;I'm only level 18 and I think I have a decent production without going overboard. I don't think that, because they are bandits, they should be dealing nearly the same amount of damage as trained military, nor should they have the same amount of health points.
The transition between Fir and Hardwood, Tier 2, is so ridiculous. So tedious. I can't even imagine Tier 3.
I would also like to see a fundamental change in game progression or game type; You can make 2 different server types: PvE and PvP. Or, you could be awesome and combine the two.
Use what we're working through now in the game as what it is, a tutorial. Maybe scale things down a little bit, but still progressively hard. After completing this "Newbie Island" you are then "graduated" to a massive world. You can either make it all inclusive, everyone is allowed; fight for your land; you fail, too bad.
Or you can make different maps or scenarios and people get queued into a new world where they are pitted against others, up to 4/5/6(10/20/?), and they can make alliances, break alliances, trade without restriction... whatever. Of course you would need to introduce a map function, have enough sectors for everyone to have at least 4 or 5 surrounding them, dynamic events like the monks or witches, etc. Like an upgraded, larger scale skirmish in S7.
Regardless of what you as a game, business, w/e decide to do... you have to think about the long term. I love the Settlers franchise, I love world builders, RTS, strategy... it's great. I can't tell you that I will play the game for x amount of time, and I can't tell you that I would buy gems or purchase from your store... but I will tell you that unless you keep those who do decide to even attempt to play this game, keep their attention and make them want to come back. I cannot see that happening unless very basic things are changed or improved.
Cheers!
PVP!
why is economic statistic window the highest? dose that really add anything to the game? people need to get their priority straight!
PVP + Social elements is VERY important otherwise I'd stick with my client-based single player game.... I need something that makes me feel I'm part of a community this is pretty much how it will be for now and future games PvP in it or it won't succeed in the long run.
Economic statistic... Options to select a type of buildings, a chart to quickly know how much building of each kind I have and their status... Sometimes, I must look around quite some times to find a building type and stop his production.
It isn't really fair to let us choose only one thing out of all those options. Because some of those are things that SHOULD be implemented into the game, whereas a couple of them are exactly how the game was intended (as I would suspect) to be played.
Statistics window would help keep your resource gathering and production a lot more organized, letting you see exactly what you need at just a glance.
Building grids would help organize the city and to help make it more aesthetically pleasing.
Hotkeys would just make things more convenient for the players instead of chasing your mouse around the screen and clicking on everything you need.
And I also agree with pretty much everything ColdDayInHell said.
I really hope the game doesn't turn into a pvp fest. I love building stuff and working on economic and political aspects of games, and the last thing I want to do is to be forced into pvp mode.
As for the choices, I'd love either faster resource gathering or the economic window :)
I would like PVP that would be great, but I marked other for the amount of time and resources to make an army is way out of proportion and really need work.
I like all of what Colddayinhell said, with a small addition. When players are ready to transition off the tutorial island, they have a choice. Either go the path of peace, or go the path of aggression. This way, players who really prefer not to be bothered by war mongering neighbors can be left alone. The islands don't have to be different, a player just won't have the ability to attack a non-aggression player.
I'm definitely torn. A resource per hour chart would be useful for planning building priority and ratios, but most of all I would like to be able to move my buildings. If only for aesthetic purposes.
Also torn as i have multiples, but it would be nice to earn xp points while playing instead of just during battles or quests
I voted other - for two reasons. First, like some of the others have stated, its a hard choice to pick just one thing. I'd like to change several of these things such as a PvP (for long-term play value), faster resources (which ultimately control the game's progression as well as the player's interest), and a grid for building (which I am certain will be added from the suggestions thread).
Secondly, there are other things i'd like to see implemented into the game. A mini-map would be a nice addition. Also, it would be great if you could select a resource and it display the amounts remaining in that resource rather than having them only display when you are in "build" mode for that specific resource.
Excellent post! I agree with you on almost every point, heh. There is a good base to build on for the game for certain. However, if the "end game" is waiting around forever for resources, to attack bandits that inflict harsh attrition....I'm not so sure if it will hold my attention long term.
Doc-Rock, I chose 'Other' just as you did for the same reasoning.
I would have voted for PvP, but felt as though that was already being worked on, so no need to ask for it.
PvP via War, and war is not everything. it might be some things to some people but you know the rest.
Plus, if you don't plan economically for a war, you will lose. (I wish our past/present gov't. leaders learned that!)
Just like a home budget, if you do not know where you stand money-wise, everything else falls apart.
I chose the Econ Stats window for knowledge at a glance, which helps short and long-term in my humble opinion.
This info helps so much in planning for building production, how many settlers to build, how many licenses you can use or not use, costs for bronze swords via coke smelters, forges, mines, coal mines, etc.
All this has to be factored in to make intelligent decisions.
I think this Economic Statistics Window is a very important piece that needs to be included in the game right off the top, and it needs to be done right.
(AKA Looking at all the comments in the forums of us beta testers, and implementing the best stuff.)
Have a good one.
I'd like several, though admittedly small tweaks. I voted for faster leveling (though I think that faster resource gathering would allow this). I would like to reset to clean the slate and use the knowledge I've gained to plan better the next time, and the economic statistics would be nice just so I can tell more easily how much I am gaining on my goals.
I don't know if this has been brought up any where for PVP and it might be beyond the possible for this game. What if there where border type areas that if you wanted to control them you might have to fight PVP to take or keep control of the area. This way a person could go PVP or not.
Thank goodness that the economic statistics window is leading the poll. :D
Though, many of the suggestions are nice. Grids showing you where you can place buildings is also a nice feature.
Couple things I can think of....
1. Since part of the game is "waiting" for things to finish, provide a means for players to do something interesting and/or that helps their standing in some way. (Ever play Dungeon Keeper where you could go first-person as one of your minions and battle the invaders?)
You could maybe have an "arena" where players can go and engage in some sort of battling system. Maybe have an RPG character that you upgrade and outfit with items. You join in groups or go solo. If you win, big rewards, lose, just get experience.
Or, do some sort of thing that could help other players, or newbies, with their maps.
2. Restart option. ;)
Even if you start back at level 1, I am up for it.
3. I liked how Settlers allowed you to clear-cut forests and even remove some other obstacles to clear building space. But I can accept how this game is working.
You guys should add tanks and helicopters.
PVP
And pvp shouldn't have to be voted on, it should be integral to the game, because without it, there isn't a game !
The leveling isn't that bad and I find that I actually gather my resources too quickly :P the thing I need though is more player interaction! Where's teh coop/pvp-ing actionz???
I think this is a really good idea. Change the pacing into two phases. Phase I is a tutorial where we zip through the levels solo. Get used to the mechanics. Make everything easy to get whether through quest rewards, resource production or something else (I suggest resource production).
Once you 'graduate' You can be queued for a new world, choose a pacing on the world, and start PvP or PvE ...
Tuning Phase II is a different conversation since that will require some actual PvP time to see how the mechanics play out.
PvP no question, its necessary for highly successful mmos imo. The economic status window I agree with ColdDayinHell, that would just be a simple addition and not hard to incorporate.
So far as resource gathering that comes with higher levels and a game that is expected to last more than a short duration, it only makes sense that things will be slow starting out and to plan and think ahead for optimal placement. As you progress it becomes more and more apparent that this game isn't so much patience as many claim and waiting on resources, but rather if you can optimize building placemtn as I can stay logged on for 6-8hrs straight and stay busy still.
As for having a grid, could it really be any more easier than what it already is considering roads are free? I mean seriously, I don't understand how thats even an option to vote on for an add on to the game.
Nearly the same point with leveling speed, if you are allowed to level at a fast rate it will burn the game out faster. It comes down to planning ahead and using your brain, one of the things i like most about this game compared to others that fall short in this area and any "life noob" can become a power on. this game will assuredly seperate those that can think outside the box and forsee future problems and alleviate them before they happen with their economy.
Well Stated.
I marked faster resource gathering .
if you are going to develope pvp then I think there should be an option of weither you open your island to attack or not, If there is a world map, then just allow the player to mark his or her Island open or closed, if closed then let them explore other islands and develope them.Trading with other players, passive and aggressive. Just don't let them change back and forth.
I would like to start over the game anytime I felt like it or even run 1 on each server. Becuase my town sucks becuase I can't move anthying around and there is no room to lay roads were I need them now
Dump the Explorer and let your soldiers explore. OMG you ran into a bad guy camp!!! Battle time.
