Worth 800 gold for another explorer?

Is it worth the 800 gold for a second explorer? I know early in the game he does not bring back very many or important items, but will he bring back cool items later in the game?

My understanding is explorers will pay off in the long term. Consider that at level 20 the longer treasure hunt he brings back items such as 200 marble, 200 hardwood, but it takes 12 hours, a second means you have 2 running in 12 hours for similar rewards.

Eventually some things only come from adventures and the explorers like exotic wood. So again long run they pay off.

i would say he is. i have 1 general 2 explorers and 2 geo's only cause we all know hunting for iron/coal/marble is 30minutes ++ so 2 geo is needed to respawn copper and stone.

while my explorers bring me avg 50 hard wood and 50 marble per day (running 3x2 per day roughly netting 5-10 per guy) while it seems like pittance.. frankly its a bonus to my econ plus the chances of weapons/gold/other items become better im not sure what the later trips bring but if it is higher grade items that take hours.. doing it x2 is always better then investing 800gold in to your town. (while you suffer from lack of upgrades, lv 3+ town hall or marble/hard wood production) you can still make back that 800g investment pretty quickly depending on how lucky you are.

I always pre spawn with my geo, but I quite prolific. What else have you got to do with the gold?

1-19 not really, but 20+ very much so.

With the new patch, explorer will be worth it!!

well my 2 explorers did the medium trip 12hrs. both found me 200 marble soo i personally think its worth it for 2, its up to you if you want it early on lv 1-19 or get two at lv 20+ when you can do the medium trips.

Explorer pays off long term, but definitely not short term. I forked up the gold for him and don't regret it one bit. he has brought back 300 gold already so he is paying off his debt to me slowly but surely. Just thinking about the longer 12 hr trips has me excited and eventually I'll be mining gold either way so for now I like getting the random bonus resources to utilize. 1 thing to consider is you have enough gold to buy him quite early in the game, and can start using him right away and not have to stare at the gold that bears no meaning til you can level up buildings later on.

Explorers also pay off later in the game, when you can use them to find Adventures. There's also a 2 day treasure search. So you will definitely need to buy the 2nd one at some point.
