I agree that is a good idea maybe it will be implemented when the game goes live.

I agree with this.
In fact, I was wondering, what if you had an option that you could select multiple upgrades, even if you don't have the resources, and as they are harvested, the harvested items are divided amongst the upgrades.
It would take longer, but if you know you are going to be offline for a day or more, your map will automatically fill the required resource trays and the buildings will upgrade when they are ready.
