Pushing, shoving, tripping and falling

I did a very little bit of roller derby at one point of my life and I did a lot of pushing, shoving, tripping and falling, but it didn't take me long to ask myself why was I doing this, because the money was short and the hours were long and when I was done I had nothing to show for the hard work and pain. So this is my question! Why would anyone or everyone PUSH anything to one person in a guild to help that one person become the biggest and best player in the group? Why would anyone go through all the work building up and then using up their own valuable resources by pushing it all to the leader? I am new to these types of games and if there is a reason behind this madness of pushing I would just like to know.

It's a strategy to help drive a players economy so they can produce say lots of troops for when PVP becomes a reality. Or it could be to drive this persons economy so they can be a battery of resources for other players.

There's nothing wrong with the strategy so long as all the people pushing are from unique IP's and aren't multi's.

Oh I see, it is a legal way to cheat other players. Everyone is so worried about starting off on even terms with the new players that will come, so we have the wipe, no wipe issue and we have the worries about one person having two accounts, but we will allow 20 players to gang up on one player in PVP by making one leader a super power and then they can filter down to all the lowerings the spoils of war that are stolen from the poor innocent single player that has no idea so many are ganging up against them. Strange how everyone seems to find legal was to steal and then feel good about it.

I really don't care how other players play, I was just wondering why a concept like pushing was around and now I see why it's done. Please don't mistake curiosity for weakness. Maybe it's not care bears you smell, it might be gummie bears.

Agreed, It's a strategy found in many online games. Many of the smaller and/or less active players will enter a League, Guild, Army or whatever that particular game uses and contribute to the larger, more experienced and more active players in return for resources, protection, guidance etc.

If a group of individuals comes together for a common cause (in this case Guilds) then it only makes sense that they will try to maximize that cause to provide them with the greatest benefit.

pushing or buffing accounts via alt's has been around for years. games like EverQuest and other such games started treads of pushing, by means of group/grinding.
the typical pushing happens via alt "bot" accounts that are used to support the main account. typically in any MMO style game using the Tri-group system would be a tank or damage dealer class. and the alts will be healers or other buffing classes. its used as a means to "powerlevel" the main account without having to work to gather the required actual players (a good example of this for todays standards is 1 guy in the usa was reported to have beaten a World of Warcraft raid dungeon by him self, which is generally a 10 person raid, by using multi-accounts for healing, tanking and damage dealing)

pushing in browser style games comes from the requirement of time = money. most games that require you to dedicate a large amount of time to "grind" in the game will always have some form of pushing accounts. especially when it comes to games like CEO where you require a large amount of resources to get anywhere, the reasons for the pushing is purely up to the person(s) doing the pushing but typically its to make 1 person high enough level that they unlock rare/expensive items that can be funneled back down to the pushing accounts (if the pushing accounts are actual players) or used to generate alot of ingame money/ or item wealth.

buildings like the guild hall which use 3k gold will always be a target for pushing, as using multiply accounts for gold will get you the guild hall faster then doing so legit, but i would not consider pushing accounts evidence of "pro" playing. more of a desire to be top via less then "honourable" means, if you want to get a good idea of why pushing happens, just think back to when you started CEO and think about how long or hard it took you to level up once, or gather the required resources for a building. pushing skips over that downtime or wait period, which is why people do pushing accounts.

come player vs player, you will see alts used for spying if it becomes competitive enough to warrant such requirements.

overall, pushing is just another form of gameplay not exactly viewed as ideal or fair by many players.

I'm a patient man, I gave you the benefit of the doubt, but you just don't seem to grasp the point or strategy behind these kinds of games. If I'm wrong then please correct me, but when I explained the strategy behind pushing, you respond with "Oh I see, it is a legal way to cheet other players". There's nothing CHEAT about it. It's a strategy of supporting your strongest team mate or guild member so that they can focus on PVP and what not instead of micromanaging their economy.

That's a nice post (not really it was rather unnecessarily insulting), except that PVP doesn't exist yet so there's really no reason anyone should be getting "pushed," as the "pusher" receives exactly 0 benefit. Wouldn't it also be a viable strategy to make sure that every member of the guild is strong and in the event of PVP could contribute units? Yes, but those getting "pushed" wouldn't like you to think that =)

Indeed it was thunder, but I make no apologies. I tried to explain the concept as civil as I could and she comes back with a comment about it being legal cheating. Going forward, I'm think it's best that I just avoid her threads. :P

I do think this thread should be locked now that the concept has been explained, the thread has served it's purpose with an irritating side effect.

I have read your previous explanation of the benefits and as of yet I see none when PVP isn't involved? Care to enlighten me?

I see that you give them resources...and then later you get them back?? Why didn't these smaller players just keep their resources in the first place?

I doubt anyone could correct you as you are always right and you are the master of all you survey and as most immature cyber bullies you will always believe everyone else is the problem. I am glad to see that you can read and mimic correctly that which you read. I might not be a pro at this game and I may ask a lot of questions that seem silly to a pro-asset like you, but I like this game and play it because I want to and not because you give me permission. You are of mean spirit and I do not like you and there are very few people I do not like. Obviously my point was in reference to when there is PVP. Right not there's little reason to do this other than to help someone progress quickly to gain access to rarer materials sooner. Or to help establish a Guild House.

Hi Bloodmoon,

I can only answer for myself, not for anyone else. Working together as a Guild, is in many ways working together as you would with any team. I'm a major biking fiend and if you watch cycling teams work together, each member plays to his/her strength. You have sprinters, climbers, powerhouses, long distance members, etc. and domestiques. The domestiques work for the overall good of the team and are just as important assets. Basically in any team effort you have people who have a more public face, and those who are content to work less in the limelight all for the good of the team.

I don't know anyone personally, myself included, who has given all or even a great deal of our hard earned resources to our own Guild Leader. (I don't know about other guilds). I can say, that our leader has graciously and courteously answered many of my (probably tedious) questions on battle strategy, production issues, etc., as have other guild mates. Certainly, I could just go to any other players at that same level for advice, but my membership within a Guild affords me the opportunity to build on the social aspect of the game in addition to the game play itself. I've enjoyed getting to know my guild mates better one on one, rather than just through mass chat or getting spammed with friend requests from people with whom I've not even had a conversation.

By helping one another in sharing expertise, buffs, resources, and comradeship, the overall gaming experience is enhanced (for those who enjoy playing with others. Some players enjoy being more the lone wolves, which is also fine). It's only when these things are done in nefarious ways that there is a problem.

When the upper level members of the guild go into bandit territories for example - they sacrifice a lot of units and materials in order to forge the way for the rest of us. Therefore, they wind up saving those of us at lower levels many resources and troops by sharing their own experiences and strategies with us. So helping a leader by trading goods for lost weapons and troops, etc. comes back in the long run in materials and troops saved from not just blindly heading into battles, or willy nilly placing buildings without knowing where resources are, etc.

As for when pvp arrives -- it would not speak well of any guild or group who would attack weak or single targets. Good players enjoy worthy opponents. Without meaning to be insulting, the sky is really not falling. As you've stated, you are new to these kinds of games, and perhaps have become alarmed and/or made erroneous assumptions about something that is not done by ethical players, and have misunderstood the difference between honest, cooperative play within guilds, and something that is borderline, or is indeed, a TOS violation.

i have noticed alot of posts about pushing supporting pvp, while that may be true. we still really do not know how pvp will be enacted in CEO.. so frankly using pushing as a system for it. may not be the wisest.. while i do not doubt that it is a viable strat for casual games like this, it may be more prudent to hold off "cheating" the system before said system is implemented lol
