So I started playing this game a few weeks ago and love it. The problem is that as you advance you have no where NEAR enough building permits to progress through the game at a decent rate. Every new building you unlock requires multiple buildings to supply it and then even more buildings to supply those. I think we should try and get this aspect of the game done away with. Unless, you like spending 30 bucks to build a few buildings!
This is a long-term MMO, having limited licenses is a large part of that and most likely a major revenue stream for the game.
Part of the game is also about building intelligently and efficiently. Without the licenses, too many people would spam build on thier island and then constantly have to reorganize as they get the ability to build higher level buildings.

You also don't have to be self-sufficient. Built one long supply chain, then trade the excess for whatever else you need.
Although this would be wonderful I doubt they would give it to us. Limiting the amount of licenses makes you have to carefully plan out your city. It also makes you trade for resources you don't have. Limiting licenses also allows them to sell the extras to make money off a game they let us play for free. So wish all you want but there will still ba limit on the amount of licenses you can have. :)
The game is set up very well and limiting of licenses is good in my eyes keep up the good work UBISOFT Team.
i think if anything there should be a limit to how many building licenses you can buy. cause once PvP comes out its gone come down to who has bought the most building licenses..so say put a limit of say 10, 10x building permits from the shop..maybe more i m just throwing a number out there...
There is a limit of 18x 10 licenses that can be bought in the Trader shop.
That's how they make money. =P
well obviously, if they didnt make money the game wouldnt exist... the thing to note is this game in comparison to other free to play browser games doesnt give a money spender some huge advantage, I know because there are 2 players in my guild that havent spent a dime yet I cant catch them in level. Its obvious too when they only have 190-200 buildings and i have 300+. Ubisoft/blue byte did a fantastic job with balancing this game so free players and cash spenders dont have this huge unfair gap between them yet it still has its own perks for both.
Not spending a dime and being a top level player is very commendable, however it is much harder to have a nice chain of gold production and making mass coins on a daily basis unless you buy golden parrots in shop. You can still produce a good supply of gold without doing this but its harder since you will need to produce more marble, tools, and hardwood planks to keep remaking the gold mines once they deplete the 300 ore thats initially in them.
also they have given us several ways to earn gems without needing to spend any cash, very rare for a free to play game to do so. Weekly login gives you gems on 7th day, if you keep tabs on forums theres new contests usually weekly if not 2-3 in a week and I've seen all the way up to 10k gems for 1 prize!! After level 32 you get 170 gems every time you level up, and once you hit level 40 I think it goes up to 200 gems per level.

You need to have incentives to build and upgrade efficiently, without this low level players would just go nuts before they really understand the core concepts of the game. If you had 335 building licenses and enough gem bought buildings you run out of space on the island anyways.
