A member of my Guild and I were wondering about the effectiveness (Time and Cost vs Reward) of the Medium Adventure Search vs the Short Adventure Search. Is the Medium Adventure Search worth the resource cost and Explorer Time? Anybody have much success in finding higher level Adventures? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
med. adv search - if success, u get longer/bigger adv.. like the nords.. , sons of velt.. etc..

Well even though they cost more they still have the possibility to return only 3 map frags
My experience, running 10 scouts. is as follows:
10 scouts on short search generally return 2 adventures.
10 scouts on medium search have been returning either 2 med level adventures, 1 med and 2 short level, or 4 short level adventures.
mediums have brought me Black Knights and Victor, both trading for a lot of coin.
Not to mention, nords, sons, and other of that ilk.
costs me 300 coin to send 10 on a med hunt, but I have gotten as much as 1200 coins for 1 adventure.
I've sent out 26 short search parties (260 gold and 1300 sausage!) And have received 3 adventures- wich of the swamp, dark priests, and stealing from the rich. So that means 23 times I got map fragment x3. Sounds like i'm having bad luck, since sirroy's numbers (around 20% success) must be close to accurate since he sends out about 2-3 times as many explorers than me and has been doing it over a greater amount of time. 11% (my success rate) just seems a bit low to me for the cost of sending them out, I mean I know there is no other alternative really to advancement once the island is clear so i guess will just keep trying my best and hope for a string of good luck!
Your odds on Short vs. Medium vs Long are as follow, Short: (75.9% fragments,24.1% maps), Medium (67.5% frag,32.5% maps), Long (68.9% frag, 31.1% maps). For medium search you have a chance for all the maps (short, medium, long). Of course the searches are almost like a slot machine so its almost like random. I used to do short searches which end at around 10-11pm EST with 2-3 explorers and I'd say I get at least 1 adventure 80% of time. Lately, its been getting worst so i don't know if they lowered the rates again, cause there have been complaints on the "other" forums about 13 explorers and getting all frags.

Yeah just had another two return and fragments on both, puts me at 10% success rate for the short search. Just 1 more level until I can access the medium search though! Maybe make up for some of my terrible luck.
This is my biggest gripe about the end game here.
The drop rate is aweful for these adventures. Adventures are the end game... and it is abysmal for the non-agreesive cashshop players to get them. And even so, if you're going to spend money on the game are you going to spend those very precious gems on adventures? or Building licenses? It's not really even a question.
Anways, I've also sent scouts on 20 short trips, 2 adventures. So basically once a week a player under lvl 36 can do one adventure which takes maybe 3 or 4 hours - only slightly longer if you didn't pile up bread. Overall there's nothing to do on the other 6 days. And those map frags are utterly and completely useless for us under lvl 36 folks.
BB_MistaGrimm informed me today that adventures drop on a completely random number generator. Well devs, for the love of people playing, please tweak the odds for the short adventures AND add adventures which can be bought with map fragments for toons under lvl 36. Thanks!
+1 to this for sure! Would help people from feeling like they are in limbo until level 36 rolls around. Could just put up traitors or dark priests for map fragments and we'd be all set.Quote:

Incidentally, for whatever reason, the map frags trade well for resources. i.e. 2 frags for 400 coal, 3 for 400 copper, and 4 for 400 iron.

Reading on the german wiki right now that indeed, there will be new adventures that are purchasable with map fragments! No idea on what level or if the gap will be bridged, also could be a mis-translation but I'm also getting from this that you could purchase a mystery box of sorts with map fragments as well. The dates for these changes were January to February so I guess we shall see!

Congrats bobj.. i'm on a 45 and 0 streak.. i hope mine ends soon also.
they should put ALL the adventures to map fragments trade.
