What is beta code for?

I recently got a beta code entered via PC Gamer and i dont know wut to do with it.

I just checked out the PCGamer.com website. So as far as I know, the beta code is for 'The Settlers Online' (UK edition). We are Castle Empire (US edition). Any US player will be redirected to Castle Empire. In another word the beta code is useless in the US, unless you want to play the UK version via proxy servers.
