Guess you have to spend money to do adventures

Well I'm not understanding the adventures. I've sent my explore out 4 times, once he came back with an adventure, the other 3 times he had 3 map fragments. Now there are only two adventures listed for map fragments, the "cheapest" being 30. That will take at the current rate 10 days, and I have to be level 36 to do it. So how can I ever get to level 36 if I'm only getting a real adventure once in a while. I can only conclude then that you have to use gems, which to afford most of the listed adventures have to be paid for with real money. Is this a correct analysis, or am I missing something? Is there some other way to level up other than adventures?

Well after you clear your island, Adventures are pretty much the only way to level up. And I am not sure about people outside my guild but Adventures seem to drop in waves from Explorer searches. Some weeks I will not get a single Adventure (like this week) and some other weeks I will find eight. Be patient, your Explorers will find them. There are also plenty of 2 Player Adventures that will drop, so find some good friends and/or find a guild. That will definitely increase your chances of being involved in Adventures. This game is all about patience.

Thank you for the feedback. I know about the patience part, which is one of the good things. Guess I'm feeling that they've made it too drawn out. The 24 hrs for search (if you have normal explorers) very long investment of time for what so far has been a poor return. Guess if I had another explorer it wouldnt' be so bad. Like RL this game is really about constraints, and that there is rarely enough, time, money or material to do everything you want, and to the level you want.

Also note you can only buy a few adventures with gems, and all these adventures can be found with your explorers plus many others that you cant get with gems.

I am going to say that something changed here. 90% of my searches are coming up empty, this wasn't always the case. I have 2 to 4 searches going out a day, and most days I get only map fragments. Maybe one day out of the week I will get 1 adventure. The chances of getting an adventure really have to increase. For those who are looking at a gazillion xp points needed to the next level, we go through lots of adventures, not just one a week.

I do one solo adventure every 7 days and I've spent real money on the game every time they have a sale (which means I have a bunch of scouts and I find adventures maybe 10% of the time).

If you NEVER find adventures you can buy one every 10 days for the map frags. If you find 1 adventure and 27 map frags every 10 days then you'll be doing more adventures on average than I do. (You'll average one adventure every 5.6 days which is a lot).

So, worst case scenario, you have to buy adventures from others till you hit level 36, then start spending your map frags on adventures...but that's if you NEVER find an adventure, which we all know is next to impossible.

You'll be fine, just keep doing what you're doing. Leveling becomes very slow. It'll take me 3 weeks to go from level 35 to 36.

I went on a dry streak in my early searches, for the first thirty I sent out I had a 10% success rate. It has evened out over time and I'm probably close to the real 25% or so that the short search provides.

10 scouts back from a medium search returned a 50% rate. That is the highest I have ever seen.
2 Secluded, swamp witch, horseback, outlaws

Based upon what people have said about the frequency investing in another scout my be worth while. Of course that is competing with upgradeing advanced buildings as well, which so far has been one reason not to buy (just now starting doing much trading and making gold via the mine/smelter routine). The savage scout would be great but I think overall the gem investment at the present time would be best on deeds and occasionally the golden parrot.
