I did not read through many of the suggestions by other people (to make sure that one I have posted is not already there)because there are so many. but here are a few ideas.
I have noticed that this resembles Age of Empires Online (AOEO) which I tested their Beta as well. the look is close, and the city feature is close as well. It also resembles Lord of Ultima, gamplay wise, the graphics are better here in my opinion. and then theres Stronghold, for instance, to make bread, you must get the grain (which requires a farm) then, a mill, then a bakery, that’s five buildings, compared to 1 building from Lord of Ultima or Age of Empires Online (they do not have bread as a resource)
So, after playing some of these games, you know where all these ideas are coming from.
The ability to move buildings: In Lord of Ultima, they gave you a feature that let you move buildings (you could move more buildings the higher your rank was, in this case, the higher your level is) because early on, we will find deposits, the more you conqueror, the better spots you have. So, for instance, the middle of the map, it has lots a marble. You will want to transfer all your old marble masons there, since there are far more deposits. “but now I’ll have to destroy all my masons, and rebuild, I just lost a lot of resources!” with the move buildings feature, you wouldn’t have to worry about that. Now, if you guys want to ad a price (1g to move a building, 2g for a level 2 building, etc)
Guilds have more importance: also in Lord of Ultima, Alliances (essentially guilds) had way more importance. I think you copied them in one aspect; they had a 100 member limit. There are things that you have done that are good: you made the guild house cost something, In lord of Ultima, newbie’s would make alliances, and other newbie’s would join. No one knew how to play, and quit because the game wasn’t fun. It’s sad, because if the players had waited, and learned how to play the game (couple of months before you where considered good enough to lead an alliance that had a chance of winning), more people would like it, alliances would be fun (when there’s 5 players that don’t know anything, it’s pretty boring, compared to the 100 member alliances that are having the best of times) you also let the leaders pick the names of rankings, that’s not a huge factor, but I like it. (lol) Lord of Ultima also let each alliance have there own mini forums in the game. For instance, here in castle empire, it would work something like. Click on the guild button, and there would be a tab that said “guild forums” leaders would make sections (announcements, help, offtopic, general topics) , leaders could edit, make more, or delete, parts of forums (or all of them), and threads, and posts, everyone in the guild would be able to post and read. It would make a data base, where new players could just read forums and learn. Because leaders can’t be on 24/7 and the forums would make it easier on leaders.
I here pvp will come out, that’s good, because in lord of Ultima, alliances (guilds) where you insurance, if you didn’t have one, you could always be defeated. (even with one you could), so that’s another plus, but right now, guilds don’t hold much importance, they aren’t necessary. I could go on for days about this, but I’ll stop here.
Rankings: in Age of Empires Online and in Lord of Ultima there where rankings, age of empires stated the top 5 2v2 and the top 5 pvp. Lord of Ultima would have everyone in rankings, ( once, it held 10,000 + rankings, you could view what everyone’s rank was)
And a rankings for Alliances (guilds) That helped make it more competitive, players could see who was serious, and who was there just for fun. the way it is now, it’s based by members, so no one really knows WHO is in it to win, and who is just got a lot of players. lord of ultima was score, ( about 1-10 score per build/upgrade) and the ones with most score where on top. For here, I guess it would be ranking by level, say there are 100 members, and each is level 10. that’s a rankings with 1,000 score. And you would be on the ranking list. It’s a way for people to see how they average, who are the good players, so on, so on. I like the feature a lot, it adds some incentive to work hard. ( don’t get me wrong, I work hard anyways)
Timer for Resources: in Age of Empires Online, It would tell you when your reasources would be done, (like here, but it was easier to calculate how much you'd hav,e) it did it in 15 min blocks, but reasources that where worth more took 30 mins, 1 hr, or 2hrs (for 1 of somthing, you could make 700g, like one Delphie Limestone ( you got 2 every 12 hrs) (thats like 100-300g in Castle Empire, for one reasource) And in Lord of ultima, it would tell you how much you would have per hour. (say, I will have 10,000 wood in one hr. or, in 3 hrs, I know I will have 30,000 wood.) this is also helpful.
Resource Finder: Don't you just hate it when your looking for one peticular resource and can't find it in trade tab, or it takes you 20 mins to do so?
In Lord of Ultima, you could select what type of resource you wanted to buy, and it would show you ONLY that type of resource. Or, as in Age of Empires, you had stores in you city, and you would click on either the: resource store, the weapons store, or the gear store, (gear upgrades soldiers) etc.
I prefer Lord of Ultima's way myself, since stores in your city would take building slots.
Mass Mailing :Last one, I promise, (for now) but the ability to send mails to more than one person at a time OUTSIDE the guild would be another great idea. =)
Well, I’ve given you a few things, I may come back with more later.
But for now, see ya! ;)
