What about Moderators?

Hello, Administrators, this is not a thread about anything you are doing wrong, so please look at it. This is a thread to tell you, a lot of people are getting mad about global chat, i think that we should have moderators to moderate chats so there aren't many problems, i am not saying the mods have to be from BlueByte or Ubisoft, i think they should be trustworthy players that were once just players, but now they can moderate global and help (In case it starts in there). They do not have the same privileges as you administrators have, but they can ban people from chat, if they are being inappropriate.

I think this would be a good idea because, we know you can not be on 24/7, but at least you know that there are people there that are trying to make chat a better place for all the players. Please take my proposal into consideration, thank you.

I agree! However, with the idea of trustworthy members becoming mods, I think the requirements must be set pretty high. Like being over 18, being asked by the admins (Definitively no applying for this kind of position) to join, and being kind and reasonable individuals.

Also, I think there should AT LEAST be a muting option. I'm a bit frustrated that that hasn't already been implemented.

thete is no such thing as trustworthy. if you arent getting a paycheck from ubi i already dont trust you, you have nothing to lose. ive played many games w "trustworthy" player mods and it always equals MAJOR F A I L and leads to abuse. i also dont want to see gamers as forum mods either for same reason.

Even with the new mystery mod who pops in banning people, it has not helped as he/she is banning people for saying "pot" or "String Bikini", while the regular malefactors can type in the most depraved things with seeming impunity.

This is an old topic with alot of previous discussions, and so far, no responses or replies from the staff have been put out there anywhere, that I am aware of, regarding implementation or consideration of mods.

Something most definitely needs to be done, or should have been done a very long time ago.

Hopefully, since this topic has once again been put on this forum by another player, it will serve some notice as to the serious desire of players who WANT mods in an attempt to keep this game up to the standards dictated by the TOS/COC of BlueByte themselves.

i agree we need not only more mods but visible and firm none of what happens in global-1 would be tolerated in the UK servers and those of you who have visited us over there recently i think most of you have said how nice it was that you could actually have a proper chat without the spam/abuse etc

The problem as far as I can tell, happens mostly late at night when all of Ubisoft's paid employees are done with their shifts and have gone home. Global gets ugly after hours and there is no way to fix it other than shutting down the chat server or hiring a skeleton crew to moderate the chat (which will never happen).

As pessimistic as SirRoy's comments are, they also very realistic. I don't see a solution that's do-able for everyone.

Do you really think hiring a single moderator for overnight will break the bank of a company like Ubisoft? There's even multiple moderators already, and I'm pretty sure the talk about how awesomely funny D. violence and r*** are, and the common theme of degrading anyone whose skin is darker than a white crayon in the default chat tab everyone sees when they log on is driving away a lot of people who might otherwise pay money.

Also, it's pretty ugly DURING business hours too.

I really want moderators for the chat, not only for global, but also for help. Sometimes people jump into Help and advertise. Not only that, some of them even troll those who r really helping others, and some are misleading other players. That is really frustrating. Not to mention how global-1 is annoying. Some people even said, talking in global will lower ur IQ. I can't agree more with it.

Why don't people use some other globals for non-game stuffs and that's what the rules of CEO say I think. So a moderator's task is simple, just keep the global-1 clean and move those conversations to some other tabs. If CEO can't hire some, there r many players who will volunteer for this. Why not they try out their community's wish......

This is something I agree with. and also its not to late to do something about the state of global.

Selling chat permissions for global-1 is the self-policing answer. Let every player have 2 every day for free. Heck, even 5. the trolls will use all theirs up in no time. upstanding players will likely end up with a surplus of chat permissions.

If all your chat permissions are used up, sell them in the gem store for 5 gems each. Give them as rewards for adventures, also, even. either way, it certainly limits how much trolling and ranting can be done and for how long. This would force players to go to a different channel with their drugs, prostitutional *** talk, religions and governmental opinions that are being forced and/or thrown around in global-1 all day ever day and into the night and back again.

Help tab could also be limited in this same manner. After level 17 or level 18, make it cost a permission to chat there. Helpful people would have no problems using a permission to be helpful, or using whisper to answer various questions.

This has been implemented on many games and is the only realistic, cost effective resolution to the currently out of control global-1 disaster.

I do not agree, if you do that, then we will have trolls in Guild chat, even worse, and that would not make it any fun for the players, because they could not chat while they were waiting for whatever.

Pragmatic's idea is solid - it's how a lot of games handle it. Really, what's BB's goal with respect to chat windows anyway? Are they trying to provide a forum for anyone from anywhere to talk about anything? Or are they trying to produce a free-to-pay game that encourages people to play, and spend $ on game-items to generate revenue?

I would never let my children play this game simply because Global is filled with people who use their anonymity to "say" things that they'd probably never say in a public setting where people could attribute the comments to them directly.

I like the idea of removing the no-cost element from public chat. Evony doesn't provide a free public forum, though you could often win the "speakers" that allowed you to talk in their version of Global. They made them almost too easy to win, really, in my opinion, so I didn't spend a lot of time in their global chat as the ratio of trolls to useful people was still whacked. But on the server I played, I never saw anything like what you'll see in here on a daily basis, and I played Evony for over a year.

I really dislike the moderator approach, as the forum would quickly fill up with whiners complaining about their ban, significantly reducing its value. Take away the freedom to spew whatever vile, hate-filled thought that enters someone's head. At least make it cost them something to spew it. Won't solve the problem, but it will significantly reduce it.

i say global is a bad place, and people should fix it!

People can't fix it. Do you know who the last person I saw volunteering to a BB to be a moderator was? ZoeytheZany. Global would end up moderated by the half the people causing the problems in Global. Which would only give them a bigger soap box to preach from.

Bans and kicking should be left to the BB team. They're about as close to impartial as you can hope to get, and in my opinion already far too lenient on a lot of the crap that gets posted. There are people who should have lifetime bans from posting in Global. You can still play the game, and whisper, and talk in guild, but have no business EVER talking in Global again.

Then BBs need to see that and make it a better place, we know they all dont have time, and they cant be on 24/7. So at least either hire more people (*Which could be bad for gaining money*) or have trusted moderators.

As long as they don't make players moderators I'm fine with anything. Player moderators in a game like this = terrible... terrible... idea...

I agree BB needs to do something about global and it needs to be done quickly .. I had spent a fair bit of money on this game but will not be willing to do so again until global is addressed.. I also believe that players should not be mods..

Obviously everyone agrees that players being moderators = horrible results. Debating that part of the subject further is completely pointless.

I think you'd find that the players least equipped to be mods are the ones advocating for them, and of course volunteering to be part of the team.
