battle question

Hi... First time poster.
Been playing for 2-3 weeks now.
Here is my situation:
Level 25 and the battles I have ahead of me all have many thugs with dogs and or rangers. Up to now I have been able to win battles with recruits and militia.
What am I going to have to go into battle with? Because all the battles I simulated all have my *** getting kicked. I have a resource problem at the moment and if I am going to have to build a whack of soldiers to win this battle its going to take a week to build up. (dont have a steel smelter or weaponsmith built yet and those will take 1800 marble to just get built)

Am I missing something?

Ok thanks, this helps. One quick question.... when it says:
1. Medium Camp (150 Thug + 30 Dogs + 20 Rangers) [1: 200R 2: 175R (256R)] (Wave 2: 110R minimal)

Wave 2? Am i to use 2 generals and that the 1st one goes in with 200 recruits and the 2nd one goes in with 175 recruits? If so, what does the (256R) mean?

Yes, 2 generals. . The (256R) means the number of expected losses total.

You don't have to have 2 generals. You can just wait for your general to recover and use him for both waves.

on the last bandit chief (wild Mary?) I sent 200 soldiers (steel swords) against her and only took her down to half hit points (60,000 HP jeez)
I cannot create any better soldiers at level 31 and cannot get much more in the way of resources until I conquer that final valley. any thoughts?

First use a wave of 200 cavalry to take out all the dogs. Then send in 35 Militia 50 Soldiers and 115 Longbowmen which will finish Mary off
