I have 14. I believe the limit you can buy from the tavern is 3, and the limit with gems is 10. Add in the one you can buy with eggs and you're at 14.
Acquisition Method - Name
Tavern - Explorer
Gems - Savage Scout
Eggs - Experienced Explorer
