when you first start out remember that one of the camps is hidden behind cloud so when you fight take 12 men cus they have 10 men
their first camp is hidden in clouds bring 12 men they have 10.
Ask for help if you are confused. Most players are always willing to help.
Watch your general when he goes to attack, there's a chance that even after arriving at a camp that you intend him to attack, he will leave that camp without attacking and get "intercepted" by another camp instead. This can be frustrating and result in a lot more casualties then you originally expected.
Also, pay attention to your enemies attack order and their positioning. It can make a huge difference in how many casualties you take in the fight.
if you say gullible real real slow it sounds like oranges

If you are trying save time on getting ur toops back quickly (so u can send them out again soon)..when the adventure ends DO NOT click on Complete quest until u have reasignd all remaining troops to your fast generals ..then when u click on complete quest/adventure u will get those generals and all those troops back within 15 minutes instead of possibly waiting for hours...:)

200rec beats shunk and 100ironswords and 100longbows beat medel tooth
Militia can be useful for clearing bosses from the home island when recruits just don't have enough punch. Likely you will utilize iron swords you made yourself for these training exercises. As an alternate, if you have a Branch Office you can barter for the few iron blades you require.
NEVER use the Scaffold Rods conversion in the provision house to convert bronze swords to iron swords !!! You will likely get more swords by selling bronze swords for gold and then buying iron swords with the gold.
In my experience, Militia are only of transitory value to clear the island of bandits. Once you clear the island you might as well tear down your iron weaponsmith and reclaim the building license. You will likely make more profit selling iron bars and coal than you would selling iron swords.
Perhaps someday I will discover an adventure in which it will become advantageous to use some militia as fodder so as to protect more valuable assets.
Learn what you can from the adventure guides.
Develop your own unique battle style.
Your Recruits will always anxiously await their own slaughter. Waves of dirt-cheap recruits can work wonders.
Experiment with adventures in your spare time to see which can be completed with just recruits.
Good luck, and most of all enjoy the game.
Always click "OK" before you send an army to battle!
to defeat Wild Mary guarded by 199 dogs: you will need 200 calvary to be sacrificed taking out all the dogs. Then go in with 35 militia,50 soldiers, and 115 long bowman and this will do her in. good luck in taking out all the other camps. Linc
always double check what troops you have assigned to your general as nothing is more annoying than sending 200cav to their death when you mean to send longbows or soldiers to a victory
always make as many spare settler boosts in your provision house as you can having a stock of 1500-2000 in your star menu mean never having to wait for settlers to rebuild an army again
THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP OF ALL
Is have fun and enjoy yourself
Dear Settler's community, a few issues have come to our attention. We feel as a group of antagonists to thank you. When you leave your pretty little safe homeland to come entertain us in battle you actually don't have more troops ready as reinforcements. Good. Keep up that ill-advised method of going to war!!! You don't even have more settlers prepared in your star reservoir to enter into service in your armed forces barracks. Haha. You think that your first contingent of 200 or with that illustrious 250 troop general that you will defeat us? Good. Keep it up. We understand that some of our traitors have even given you maps of our camps and you are not studying them in your war councils. Thank you. We know your strengths and weaknesses and who to attack first and last. Please do not prepare for the onslaught that you will receive. We certainly are prepared for you. There we a have spoken. There will be no parlay and no survivors when you enter our realms. We are treacherous killers trained in the fine art of survival at all costs and means. Stay away unless you have planned out "our demise."
Signed, Pirates, witches, outlaws and all the rest of us cutthroats and mercs.
When starting out, and people don't know what to do.
FOLLOW TUTORIAL!!!!
Don't come on chat whining, complaining or screaming, "I'M A NOOB, HELP ME!!!"
have lots of calvary they have useful first strike
Save your troops, and just buy loot spots from good ol' MANIAK!!
HOLLA!!

The more you use the battle simulator, you'll begin to realize you need at least as many troops as the army group you are attacking. Don't get hasty and send in fewer troops because you don't want to wait for your barracks to make more.
The more troops you have, the more collective attacking points you have. Therefore, if you can wipe out your opponent in just one round, that's fewer points of damage he can inflict on you.. meaning fewer casualties for you.
Play Hard.. Have Fun!
If you fight a bandit camp and kill all the men, but they also kill all your men and your general (Yes, this really happened to me!), you have to send another man to take down the tent....lol. You will of course have to wait for your general to recover or buy a second general (that's what I did!).
Measure twice, cut once... or in this case, check camp twice, attack once. Nothing like sending a group of archers to the wrong camp, and having them meet a pack of dogs. Unless you have troops to spare, of course!
Secondarily, use the combat sim! It works wonderfully well. For those that want more detail, I see it above here.
To avoid a combat disaster like me, use the transfer garrison to move your garrison closer and in more of a direct line of your target. By moving your garrison not only does it take less time for your general to attack but you won't attack a camp you are not ready for like I did!
Your General is the KEY to everything that is in this game. If your general is killed in battle, you can't fight. ALWAYS keep a good look out on him, cause without him your toast.
Is it possible to send just a handful of recruits into two of three overlapping bandit camps with the intention of distracting the bandits in the two camps while your main force attacks the third camp (your intended target)? i'm new to battle. Don't know if this is a sound strategy, but if so, it could result in fewer recruit losses while wounding a few bandits.
Players new to the game will notice that cavalry does very very very very little damage, and take forever to make. Cavalry are not a waste of money and time. They are a first strike troop that kills dogs, and are necessary to complete your first multilayered battles.
When following a adventure guide always think about what you can change and make better.
Lets say you have 200 soldiers and 200 recruits and your following a guide that doesn't include soldiers.
Camp A says: Send 200 recruits - Losses are 50 recruits.
Send 50 recruits and 150 soldiers instead
This reduces your losses and help you manager your population limit.
You should always make sure that you have more fighters in your army than whatever camp you are attacking. You should also make sure that your fighters have more power than the camp you are attacking. (e.g. You shouldn't send 50 bowmen against 50 guards because the guards do more damage than the bowmen)
Use terrain pathing to your advantage.
Use and protect advanced units whenever possible - limit losses to basic units.
A unit that doesn't die heals to full after the battle - your units and your enemies'.
xRECRUITSx....AND MORE RECRUITS......CHEAP....INEXPENSIVE.....THEY COUNT IN LARGE NUMBERS....TRY DOUBLE OR NOTHING...LORDBIGFLO....YES SIR...
A thank you to Elegante for helping me to understand how the hit points and damage work. Here is something that I have worked out. Hope it will be helpfull to someone. If you take your mines and highlight the amounts of ore left, you can save a lot of material and down time. Here is how you do it. If your mine takes 7 min. to cycle, you calculate how long it will take to cycle down to one. For instance, for the geologist will take lets say 1/2 an hour to search. When you get to 4 iron, send out your geologist. now your mine will continue to run for the next 1/2 hour. when you get to 1 iron left, take the mine down and reclaim bldng material. 2 min. later your geologist finds the mine and you can rebuild with just about no down time. It works like a charm.
Wow those are some great tips and some stuff i didnt even know. But what i do i have 3 generals i try and put the best troops of each kind in each army and 1 army with just mixed troops. Yes also make sure that your army is headed to the target you chose not the random one he choses.
allways check how many enemies there are in a camp before attacking. Also make sure to find out what type of fighters the bandits are before attacking.
Use the cheapest fighter possible to avoid high losses of valuable troops
Have all the troops available that are needed.... Chuck set me back 4 weeks because of my lack of cavalry... Check the help tab often and just observe global chat... you can learn alot
recruits........plain and simple ther cheaps and very replaceable......double or nothing or twice as many recruits as bandits or doggs plus the more the merrier....first srtike....
The victorious warrior finds victory first, then seeks battle; the defeated warrior seeks battle, then seeks to win.
Human wave with recruits acting like meatsheids works best. Esp to fist strike units (**** cav. having so little damage)
Tavern, Provision House and Barracks does not need to be in close proximity with storehouse or Mayor Hall... Therefore, do not clog the usable space near the stores and Mayor house with these buildings... place them on the edges of your island in tight corners... In this way, you will get more space for production of resources near your Mayor Hall.... You can also pull down the Tavern if you are not going to use it as it cost very little resource to rebuild it.
The Vet. (250) General can save you lots of troop losses. And, can turn a two wave fight into a single wave one.
Use 50 % R units in a battle, they are most likely to die, but cost ratio/build time will be much lower having them in most fights.
