Use you Veteran General to his fullest. His extra troop capacity, 50% less travel and heal times might just save you while your in a pinch. Same goes with the Battle Hardened General
There's lots of good tips here.
But if you are a newbie:
just slow down
You really shouldn't think about going out on an adventure until you have at least 500 trained troops, and another
500 settlers in your star waiting for training.
When you get to level 26 (27?), you'll be awarded your first adventure, Bounty Hunter.
Go ahead and do that one to learn how to move back and forth from your island to a combat zone.
You can also buy (I think it's 10 fish) a second copy of Bounty Hunter in the store menu. Good deal!
But you can only buy one.
After that, understand that pretty much any adventure you choose will result in losing 500+ fighters.
Some will cost you way more than 500
And remember how long it takes for your settlers to re-populate. (About 12 minutes just for one, so 500 takes 100 hours, that's over FOUR DAYS!)
Build up your residences, and your weapons, and make lots of bread so you can get extra people from the provision house. Then, AND ONLY
THEN should you start adventuring!!
Others may disagree, but I think you need to be at least level 30 or so before you'll be ready, and by that time, clearing your island will
teach you a lot about how to conduct combat!
Good luck!
When you do the Dark Priest Adventure you can actually take the dark castle in 1 wave. Sidv adventure guide is great but the 250 veteran general was not available when it was written. The guide calls for 2 waves 132r for the 1st wave and you loose all theses recruits, the second wave calls for 80 recruits and 170 Longbow with an additional loss of 25 recruits and a general that is lost for 2-4 hours depending on which general you are using, a regular one or a veteran. With the veteran 250 troop general you can take the Dark castle with one wave of 125 calv., 40 militia and 85 soldiers with a loss of 39 militia 26 calv. and 28 soldiers. You do not loose a general for 2-4 hours and you don't loose a total of 157 recruits, I know people say recruits are cheap to replace but as for me i will take the single wave attack and save my recruits for another adventure, which i can start with all my generals instead of being short one for a period of time. Good luck and Good Gaming to you all.
The first adventure awarded to players reaching level 26 is Bounty hunter. This is a tutorial adventure which teaches you how to move from your island to a combat zone. The only thing it doesn't tell you is what to use to beat this adventure without any losses, Use 100 calv. or horses. This is all you need to beat this adventure but pay attention to what the tutorial is telling you because you will need it as you do other and more advanced adventures.
Actually, it doesn't work like that. When you complete an adventure, every General is fully recovered when they return to your island. So even a Tavern General, who lost a battle 2 mins before you completed an adventure, will be fully recovered 30 minutes later when he returns from the adventure.Quote:
I know people say recruits are cheap to replace but as for me i will take the single wave attack and save my recruits for another adventure, which i can start with all my generals instead of being short one for a period of time.
As for your trade off in troop losses, to each their own. But losing 25 cavalry means consuming 1,000 horses and 750 beer. The beer alone would cover 75 recruits.
make sure to load all of your troops back onto generals before you complete the last quest in an adventure. If you do not, any stranded troops will take an hour and half to travel badck to your island.
The combat simulator is the best way to find your way to victory first. and never use cavs against first strike capable enemies.
check messages before receiving people might send you a ridiculous trade
when placing building be strategic. you dont want something like a weaponsmith 2 mins away from a storehouse, be persistant and consistant when it comes to production. if something gets full stop production for a couple hours and build a coulp storehouse
Do not use cavs on dogs or wolves or any other enemy that has " first strike" as their special ability. save your cavs for a time when you can wipe out all of the enemies bowman, longbowman, crossbowman or even the entire force. Cavs always attack the enemies' weakest unit first. AND the enemies' casaulties are tallied before those units have a chance to attack you..
If you are not able to run Nords all day here is a different and cheaper but more time consuming tactic:
Get yourself a lot of traitors and a 250gen (also possible with 200 but more losses) even better is to get 2, 250gens so you save more time. Load each general with 22r 227cav and 1 elite or soldier. Once u arrived on the Island transfer your gen all the way op and attack te leader camp. Now send your general back home and cancel the adventure, you earned 1960 exp and lost a maximum of 22recruits. If u have 2, 250gens you can send the other once you cancelled the adventure!
exp per unit lost ~89
And another tip which is has been much more valuable to me: www.google.com
good tip: win the whole game!
:):):)
Work on finding a balance between your raw material buildings and your production buildings. If you have too many raw materials buildings, your stockpile may reach it's limit. If you don't have enough raw materials, some of your buildings might only be active a fraction of the time or not at all.
Find a buff partner quickly. That extra buff time really makes a difference.
Dont throw away waves of recruits against metal tooth. Use at least 125 cav to take out the rangers with your first wave and your loses will be much lower!
"0" on the num key or keyboard takes you to the center of the adventure map, other num keys don't work on adventure maps
Before starting an adventure for the first time, locate multiple strategy guides. Look at their different approaches and troop make ups to get an overall idea of how to build a strategy for the adventure.
When using an attack that calls for a quick retreat zoom out until you can see both your general's garrison and the enemy camp. Watching the bar move helps you anticipate when to click the garrison and signal for a retreat.
There are three kinds of advanced attacking techniques
- Retreat - where you attack a different camp, get interecepted and retreat after conqering the intercepting camp. This kind of attack allows you different attack positioning options
- Blocking - where you attack a camp with a small number of troops, giving you enough time to sneak by and attack the leader camp. This kind of attack allows you to save troops lost. However you will still lose a small number of troops and general will need to rest.
- Advanced Blocking - where you send a number of troops, giving you time to sneak by with another general and defeat the leader camp before the first general's army is done attacking. This kind of attack allows you to avoid losing any troops and a general, while taking out a general camp.
I bookmarked this forum page while working on chuck, metal tooth, and wild mary: http://forum.thesettlersonline.net/t...huck-amp-Metal . It came in handy a lot.
When looking at strategy guides don't forget to read the comments that others have left. You might find a correction or suggestion there.
To qualify for loot on an adventure, you need to complete the quest. This is different from your island where you get loot for every camp you conquer.
On adventures experience points are based on what you kill. The more you kill, the more experience you get. However, if you kill the leader camp, all the other camps in that sector are killed and you get experience points for all those camps also. If you can conquer a leader camp without having to take out the other camps you are saving troops.
If you invite a friend to join you on an adventure or if you are invited to join an adventure, to qualify for all the loot, just like your partner (who does all the killing), you need to kill 1 enemy troop (not 1 enemy camp, just a single enemy). This is what the global chat refers to as loot spot. If you have the time, always invite someone along to get the free loot. All players get full loot. The loot is not split 2 or 3 ways.
Eventhough adventures have an amount of time until completion. Don't rely on that last hour. Something will inevitably happen, such as sending the wrong troops or generals take too long to travel. Always plan on finishing at least an hour or two before time runs out.
ake sure you have the amount of warriors you need.
You don't always have to start the attack from where your troops first land on the adventure. Some maps have additional areas for your generals to move to. Many of those optional start areas have a faster path to a camp leader.
If your general is attacking another camp always check for possible interceptions by other camps' areas of influence. However, if you are just moving a general from one area you own to another area, you will not get intercepted. Areas of influence and interceptions only apply to attacks not moving.
Watch your general as it travels if it changes path when you don't want it to, click on the garrison and click the white flag for retreat. If you want the the general to reatreat after a battle, you must want to click the garrison until the battle is won, or the white flag won't be selectable.
When setting up troops for your general in starting levels, try to have about 2/3 of the enemies total in recruits for fodder for they are easily replaced. then the rest of other troops to inflict higher damage this works well up to level 22 to 23. As well as getting a second general to store troops on will make it easier to progress faster due to attacking multiple times on larger forces.
after entering the number/types of troops on a generals screen, i always exit and check to make sure i got it right and that i hit the "ok" button, got in a hurry once and lost a bunch of calvery because i forgot to push the button.
Make sure to always look at the hit points and the strength of your opponent and not just how many there is.
When doing multi-player adventures, coordinate/communicate with your friend(s). Do NOT attack at the same time. Blocks may be interfered & you might end up losing a battle even though you have won on your map. Another thing that may happen is that you might attack a camp your friend has already attacked.
Settlers is to chess, as recruits are to pawns. Sacrifice your pawns to keep your expensive troops alive, and win the war.
If dogs didn't exist, simulators would be mans' best friend!
Strength in numbers!
if your buying a lootspot make sure you have a camp to tag without dogs, your 1-5 recruits will die before you get your kill
use the guides, they help a ton
