Global-2, Late Bid proceedure

I talked it over with a few other auctioneers and we are pretty much on agreement.

Bids that are received at the wire, are and will be accepted. Due to latency that exists in the internet, this generally means that the new bidder sent their bid in before the sold was announced. Thus it is proper for an auctioneer to accept such bids..

That said..

Bids that are blantently behind the SOLD.. will not qualify.

This is to the discression of the auctioneer as to what is "At the wire" vs too late. Unlike horse racing, we cant go to a "under review" for a photo finish.

Thus...

It is NOT proper for anyone to comment on the late bid.. unless auctioneer asks if anyone else got the bid in before the "SOLD" was announced. If the Auctioneer asks, its because a "photo finish" happened and if anyone else has the bid arrive before the sold, it will help the Auctioneer make a determination. Thus, the determination is FINAL, the bid will have been accepted and the auction continue, or the bid would not be accepted and the next auction announced.

Thus...

Bidders are to remain chatter free/comment free until that determination is announced by the Auctioneer. Due to the 5 sec rule on the chat channel this process make take 10-20 seconds. Any one talking during that time will ony serve to add confusion to the situation.

Vander, I ALWAYS ask for a Ruling on the 'on the wire' bids. It helps. If 4 or 5 people see my SOLD first then it stands. BUT the seller NOR the buyer gets a say in it or it is unfair.

Bid HARD, bid FAST, and bid WHAT YOU WILL PAY. Don't snort around considering what you may or may not want to bid. This is especially important for "rare" auctions of things that hardly ever come up; if you miss a BK LS FF you'll almost certainly get a chance to bid on another in a bit.

You'll often see me bid once and then stop, because I bid what I'm willing to pay; if anyone bids over me, they can have it. Bidding what you're willing to pay also speeds up the auctions.

Why should the seller loose money?

Because they have so much already?

Low.. the idea is not to have the seller loose out on things.. but an Auction, by nature, requires closure. The going once, twice sold, process alone is > 15 seconds. This time should be enough time for bidders to get it in... And even then, we still have late bids, thus the proceedure above.

Personally, if you think you want to bid, asking for time, isnt gonna hurt, and i dont mind giving you another 5-10 seconds.. but things have to move on, and auction close.
