Why I'm glad the rewards for the new guild quest suck - and my guild pet peave

First if I'm gonna talk about guilds I have to whine about my pet peave regarding guilds

No sound when someone types in guild chat, arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg, there should be sound, I've seen people get angry because no one replied to their request for help in guild chat, no one saw it cause there is NOTHING when someone types in guild chat, the place where we need community most...

You can't carry on a conversation cause when you reply to someone they may not wander through the guild tab (and they certainly won't be informed by a sound) for another hour. The fact the guild chat has no sound is holding back guilds in my opinion...

Better yet allow us to choose the sound made when someone posts in guild chat

Cause the whole idea of guild quests builds into the game the idea that you kick people who aren't active on an everyday basis

Already in my guild people are asking anyone who shows up in the guild chat if they have completed the quest, of course they are offering to help, cause I have an awesome guild, but there is also talk of KICKING PEOPLE...

Anything that encourages people to kick people out of their guilds isn't good

I'm glad the prizes are so sucky that we don't have to get all salty with someone just cause they only play once a week...

Some people in my guild aren't happy that people aren't completing the quest even with these crappy prizes, it would only be worse if the prizes were better

Guilds are supposed to be about community and helping each other, not kicking people out in my opinion, and if the prizes were better guilds all through the server would be kicking people out of their guilds even more than they prob already are.

Buck the trend, don't kick people out of yr guild, click the cancel button on the guild quest.

Sonic, i am guild leader for Dragonshield and to date i have cancelled every single guild quest-i give all my members until the next morning to complete it-if they haven't it is understood that it was a sucky quest. I don't expect my members to complete a quest that is bad as i also don't boot members due to inactivity as i have a few are in school, have to work etc and i take their rl situations into account. I also wholeheartedly agree these guild quests are horrid-I only hope the devs listen to our complaints and either pull them or fix them :D

The latest daily quest which appears to be tied into the guild quest called "Hungry Chickens" is automatically taking (make available means: You worked hard to reach that goal so now we will simply steal it from you so you have to work twice as hard to replace it) 1500 bread, 3000 fish, and making me raise my wheat to 5500. The green lighted bars are already filled on everything except the wheat. It will take my resources as soon as my wheat comes up...but I am going to sell sell sell my wheat. All of that for only 10 gold coins and 5 pieces of granite! I already have 10 gc and the granite.

This is ridiculous!! I am not buying these heavy handed guild quests or daily quests are going to "balance out" when the other things come online. :mad:

[TC]'s chat is busy nearly 24/7, having a sound kick every time a player says something would drive us all batty.

As for the guild quests, we're currently just canceling them.

The guild quests which have "make available" are terrible asking for large amounts of resources & the rewards is something like 10gc & no XP. You have to be joking if you think that players are going to give up their resources for that!
I can't believe that these were thought out by a human being & surely have been randomly selected by a program, they are an insult to our intelligence & abilities. The fact that you have to get many so members to complete them is a bad idea, it puts pressure on all members who will chase down those who are not active in the guild chat & causes friction which is not what we need in this game.
Get rid of the guild quests because they are not workable & will only bring problems, there are better things to do than chase up other guild members to make sure they are giving up resources for such a small reward. Mine today was "Make 4000 real wood available from your storage" Reward is 10gc. No way in hell am I am going to give 4k Hard Wood Logs away for a measly 10gc!.

I have a real issue here. I just joined a guild. yesterday my guild had to supply me with everything including materials to upgrade my storage because the request was so unreasonable. Today... I would need to be at level 23 to complete quest and i am only level 18. this makes no sense. these should be doable by me not just by my guild members. I am not capable of making steel but i need to have 200 steel. You need to work on this, please! I agree with all above. And sound would be nice on whisper. that way it would not be constant but people would have a way to get your attention if they needed to. Well, hope the devs are reading.

well a true guild quest should be about a total amount for a guild to give not each member giving the same amount. It is much more difficult for a lvl 20 to give the same amount as a lvl 40 and they have a harder time rebuilding the resources. So lets ask the team to change guild quests or get rid of them.

Quests should not cost us anything except time. The "make available" and unreasonable guild quests do nothing except rip us off.

Guild adventures would be excellent if they don't cost us so much in casualties that it is not worth doing them. After seeing what they did with the guild quests....I almost hate to think what they could do to the adventures.

I have enjoyed this game because of the people and it is fun most of the time for a game with no real point to it as there is no competition. With the guides, there is no real challenge to it. I guess the challenge comes in by being able to support your army and island while the developers steal our resources and offer little in the way of rewards. Are we having fun yet?!

We do not even know who completed the guild quest....and i have all the supplies ready for the waiting quest and there is no option to complete it. Whats going on?

I will go with the more negative feedback route: The reasoning that exp. should be rare does not hold true. My favorite quest is stealing from the rich in which you lose 1050 recruits and get 10970exp. basically 10exp. per lost recruit.

I currently have 2 guild quests qued:
1)build 100 longbowmen (100 settler+1000 LB+2000 beer) AND give 1500 bread (12GC/400bread=42GC)AND give 500 longbows...total resource requirements 100 settlers+1500LB (longbows sell 32GC/400LB=120GC)+2000 beer(5GC/400Beer=25GC)..this quest will cost a total of 100settlers+187GC and reward 53exp., 10GC , and 5 granite. Granted i get to keep the longbowmen, but i don't use them on the adventures i run.

2)give 150 settlers to capital island...it would take 6*625=3750 bread at provision house to produce 150 settlers 3750/400=9.1*12GC=118GC total cost to complete this quest and it rewards 10GC and 53 exp.


I agree with the devs that there need to be streams to get exp. because once you clear your home island it becomes very dull running the same quests over and over for experience. However, their assertion that they wanted to be conservative in rewarding experience is a understatement/copout. I can yield 10 times the experience running adventures with the resources they are asking be applied to guild quests and actually generate gold by selling off the loot. The goal of strengthening guilds and increasing guild size through these quests is also an utter failure; very high lvl players can throw excess resources that they would have sold at market into these quests but mid/low lvl players cannot and therefore do not want to do them causing division in guilds over the subject of completing these. Take it out of the game and reasses how to make it an enjoyable part of the game. Right now there is no incentive to do these as you are throwing away resources for basically no reward.

and btw the chat tabs are flashing if theres new message after you visited the room, i think you just need to go to guild chat once and the tab will flash for a bit if someone wrote something after you left. im not sure how it works exactly but they do flash for new messages, maybe a bb can explain

I agree that the guild quests stink. The person in charge of designing them is clueless. Please get rid of these stupid quests or make them worthwhile.
