The OP asked for any kind of information, anything other than more apologies, and RGC posts a link to more apologies, after telling people they obviously haven't looked for the information..
Congratulations.

A decent timeline should be easy to give. Or why we can't use our usernames on Ares instead of Zeus or something?
The reason for updating every 2 to 3 hours is because most people gain a sense of action and reassurance if the communication is frequent. It is a psychological thing. It doesn't bother me one way or the other, but most people feel better that way.
OK...The server has been down more than 24 hours at this point.... closer to 36 hours.
There are a lot of people, myself included, who would like some kind of explanation as to the cause of the problem, and why it is taking sooooo long for the server to come back up.
This is really shoddy customer service.
NO reason for the rollback, or how far back it will go or how compensation will be made to players. To trash the entire server for a few should-be-easy-to-fix problems and then to roll it back and not give us explanation for the need of a rollback is customer service S**T!
If I didn't already have a significant amount of money invested in my island, I wouldn't care, I'd just go find another game to play and eff blue byte and ubisoft. However, I have not only spent (for me) a significant amount of money and time, but have made some pretty good online friends. I don't know how many will have had enough of this crap from blue byte and have or will leave whenever the server is back up.
I would hope that BB is working it's butt off finding & fixing the problem(s) with the server/program, and won't stop until they have fixed things. This includes getting their butts back into the office over the weekend (including Sunday).
REGULAR updates would be nice, even if to say "sorry it's still down, we're working hard to find & fix the problems. we're going to work on the problem 24/7 until the problem is resolved". There hasn't been a thing said except for "meeserbums" "I'll get back to you later" post from early this AM. It's now almost 16:00 Friday afternoon on the West Coast. Nothing since. More pitiful customer service. Maybe they need to hire some high-school wizards to come in and fix the problem...it would likely be done faster & better.
