I agree with the observation that it is anti-new player. It is geared toward satisfying large transaction, which is good, but it sacrifices getting a small amount of goods from a lot of people. Which is easier to try to get 40 people to give you $25 or one person to give you $1000? Sometimes the good being asked for a single person may not have the amount you need. So you're going to post small trades over and over and over again to meet them. Before you could get 10 - 20 people to respond to your small trade, now it is one and done. Should have both methods for the player to decided how they want to run a transaction.
the new system is crap, it takes way to long for anything to be traded, and oh yeah, what about noobs with only 400 or less units to trade? think they have the high number of coins or storage capacity to handle any of these trades? im sorry but this was just poor planning.... i used to make hundreds upon thousands of coins everyday through the tab or "old way", today i had the same post that would normally get hundreds of hits in an hour up all day without a single bite... i estimate i could have found a buyer then macroed it to him quicker than it would take me to find a single fair trade in the new system.... i cant believe you would take the number one reason most got on away from the game, i think you need to reverse this update and gop back to the trade tab, this is just plain stupid and im sure even new players will find it even more difficult now and run from the game because you made it impossible for the beginner to mid level crowd to do anything... this system benefits the veteran players nobody else, so i will say this with very sarcastic regards, great job on the part of the dev team... you folks have officially ruined the game and yourselves have fun finding new jobs, im sure many will be "forgetting" to log on now... and the new folks your trying to "protect" will leave after they get their branch office and cant trade... the system youve designed is inadequate switch back to the old way this is just plain stupid
this system is crap, it destroys all trade possibility for mid to low level players... the fact is its geared towards veteran players, they are the only ones who can actually use it to its potential because they are the ones that need it for larger transactions, just leaving the tab and adding "limited by whats in your storehouse" for personal trades would have been good enough... im a mid level player, i also have bought gems with my actual earned money... i used to make a killing in the trade tab now i make nothing, i went from being able to upgrade 5-6 buildings a day to 5 down to none in a single update... i post a fair trade and it sits for hours i could have found a buyer and hand sent 50k of an item before one trade gets hit on this stupid thing, now trades that would get hundreds of hits get nothing... i ask you? are you trying to destroy the game and drive people away? do you like your job?... well your doing a good job at the first and a horrible job at the second... first a rollback followed by a terrible trade system... what will be next you make it so we cant have a gold chain?
all in all the old way was better this is crap... you should have left it the way it was and added the bulk feature to personal trades between friends only and left the tab alone. for hours today i watched as the same opinion was shared between many in global.... just a tip use your head a little more and keep it far from your *** as that is where it seems to be lately
much agreed royalpayne they are ruining the game to drive players away to close the server and just take the cash they made. great game that never will make it out of beta because the dev mods bb and everyone else affiliated with the game in any official way dont care about their customers and just want to get a nice paycheck and eff the rest of us. this game was way better when i started back in sept of last year. when there wernt anything fancy about it and placement of buildings actually took some thought and strategy. now it is as mindless as playing solitare or CoD. yay good job UBI you have wrecked another great game.
It's Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! Don't Change anything!
just found out my item is still for sale in the trade "tab", i just cant see it on my "for sale " list, either way this is a glitch the Devs may need to know about and fix on the next maintenance, so i cancelled it from my for sale list, it then disappeared yet showed up as canceled on my history list, yet is still for sale in the trade. hopefully this info helps.....
I haven't been able to use it yet and being a new player (lvl 16) I'd rather trade right now and get ripped off or scammed or whatever and learn from it than wait twenty four hours, get ripped off, and have to wait another twenty four to try again. I don't really see how the wait protects new players at all.
you can still find people on global to trade with. just agree on a price, then put it up on TT and then tell them to look for it. i have done a number of trades like this.
Needed changes:
1)the interface is not very user friendly..too many actions must be taken to make it work (open, refresh, click search limitations, perform search, sort results, scroll) surely is an easier method.
2)the system should be able to handle unequal transactions..eg..I want to trade 2 Dark priest adventures for 1 Stealing from the rich adventure. In the games econemy this is an equal trade that I have made many times. In the new system it is impossible to execute "within trade system". Expand the system to a 3x3 trade system..not everything can be traded 1x1.
3)the sort function is broken! I do a search that yeilds 3 pages of results..then click to sort by sale price..it sorts the first page..then when i click to second page they are in random order. If i click sort by sale price on second page..it takes me back to first page to see what i already viewed.
4)adjusting the trade amounts when putting up a sell..I have a 36K warehouse, if i want to sell 678 of an item the closest I can get to 678 using the slide bar is +/- 150..so I have to click arrow 150 times
5) this is the TABOO topic: you fixed the exploit of deposits/buffs/parrots. I am told that a person could previousely use a star menu item twice (never done it and sure noone else has either). This is a good fix to a problem that should have never existed, BUT it did exist. You have players that have played for a year and maybe they used this to help get to lvl 50, build 60K GC, and max every building on their island in the game. A player that is lvl 25 as of this new system will never be able to compete/ catch up/ develope to the point of the early players. So essentially you have created an inequity in the game where early players will always dominate the game.
6) as stated by other players there should be a cost/per column..players formerly knew the proper market rates based on a stack(400)..looking at a trade offer for 13576 coal that is sold for 147, you have to pull out a calculator to figure if it is a fair rate based on the old system of 400's.
In summary: I am pleasantly suprised, based on recent history of this games developement I thought you would totally and completely mess this up. It is usable and with some small tweaks might become better than the old system. I like that trades cannot be held for 8 hrs. tying up my resources and I like that adventures can be sold/bought/traded without yelling in global or waiting in auction for an extended period of time.
Refresh should be automatic real time.
Filters and too many, it is annoying.
Quantity Bar is not sensitive at all, seems designed for bulky corporations, I'd prefer an input box to key in quantities.
I wonder if the "Designers" do play this game
yeah think this is the last straw, the devs have messed this up good i think i will follow in the footsteps of other more intelligent people and leave the game... this is crap
Well is there a Bug cant trade for Motherly Love or Old Friends adventures.....?
I defiantly won't be buying anymore gems on this game that they are now flushing down the toilet. It's just not worth it anymore.
I have done trivia in global before, usually late at night when there isn’t a lot going on. And I have always given rewards to the winners. But with the new 24 hour no trade policy this is impossible. Please remove this restriction, or give me a way to gift resources to non-friends. ( without gems )
all in all, not bad, Would love to see an average amount per item so you dont need a calculator to do the math.
for example:
2000 wheat for 50gc =40
201 wheat for 8gc = 25
4000 wheat for 90gc = 44
just provide an extra column for the average price per unit and it would be great. otherwise you end up helping out scammers take advantage of kids or math weak players.
Trade system selling is awesome. We do have a few taking advantage of people though. Buying is not to bad with basic math skills or that unused calculator your operating system comes with. Here is a copy of information I posted in our guild site to help our members located at http://lifelong.tsoguilds.com/?q=node/54.
Quote:
Now that we have have the ability to trade for more then a stack I figured we needed to update the trade page on the forum with another price guide. The simplest way I can figure out if your getting a fair trade or not is take the price divided by how many items it is
Example; 1600 wheat @ 20 gold coins means your paying 0.0125 per item or 5gc a stack.
[20÷1600=0.0125x400=5] Make sense?
So price divided by number of items should equal below;
Pine wood logs = 0.0025 to 0.0075 gold coin.
Pine wood planks = 0.0075 to 0.0125 gold coin.
Stone = 0.0075 to 0.0125 gold coin.
Fish = 0.0025 to 0.0075 gold coin.
Coal = 0.015 to 0.02 gold coins.
Copper ore = 0.02 to 0.03 gold coins.
Bronze bar = 0.025 to 0.035 gold coins.
Tools = 0.0375 gold coins.
Water = 0.0025 to 0.0075 gold coins.
Wheat = 0.0125 to 0.0175 gold coins.
Brew = 0.025 gold coins.
Flour = 0.0175 to 0.025 gold coins.
Bread = 0.025 to 0.0375 gold coins.
Bronze Swords = 0.03 to 0.0425 gold coins.
Bows = 0.025 to 0.0375 gold coins.
Hardwood logs = 0.0175 to 0.025 gold coins.
Hardwood planks = 0.025 to 0.045 gold coins.
Iron ore = 0.0575 to 0.0625 gold coins.
Iron bar = 0.08 to 0.0875 gold coins.
Steel = 0.1125 to 0.1375 gold coins.
Gold ore = 0.225 gold coins.
Gold bar = 0.325 to 0.375 gold coins.
Gold coin = xxxxxxxxxxxx
Marble= 0.0375 to 0.0625 gold coins.
Meat = 0.025 to 0.03 gold coins.
Sausages = 0.08 to 0.095 gold coins.
Horses = 0.0375 to 0.0625 gold coins.
Iron swords = 0.2325 to 0.2625 gold coins.
Steel swords = 0.4625 to 0.5 gold coins.
Longbows 0.075 to 0.0875 gold coins.
Exotic wood logs = 0.25 to 0.3125 gold coin.
Exotic wood planks = 0.25 to 0.3125 gold coin.
Titanium ore = 0.5 gold coin.
Titanium bar = 0.75 gold coin.
Saltpeter = 0.15 gold coin.
Gunpowder = No stable price.
Granite = 1 to 1.5 gold coin.
Wheels = No stable price.
Carriages = No stable price.
Damascene swords = 1 gold coin.
Crossbows = 1.5 to 2 gold coin.
Cannons = 2 gold coin.
1. It would be great if you could increase the free lots in a trade slot to say 10. Or have a 2nd free slot, so that we can have small lots for lower levels and larger lots for higher levels.
2. The history is not working. It remains blank after the trades were made or canceled. It should get updated after the trade goes off the board.
3. I like the new trading system, especially the special items: adventures, buffs, etc.
4. Some people need help with the concept of slot and lot, with sorting and filtering. Please add to tutorials
5. A calculator to convert prices from stack-400 to K (1000) would be useful. Multiplying by 2.5 is not always easy to do in the head.
6. The sort should go across pages.
7. Need help with filter keywords, drop down list perhaps. Also add pwl, pwp, names/shortnames of adventures, etc.
8. secondary sort column would be useful (sort by offer, then cost...)
9. number sorting should be corrected, not like 10, 100, 10001, 110, 20, 25000, 26, 3, 300 ...
suggested tweaks to the new trade system:
1) rather than letting players set the value of items have a fixed rate for everything.
example: I want to trade 2k bread for some iron ore. I click on my side and enter the 2k
bread just like we do now. when I click on iron ore on the Market side there will be a fixed
amount I can get based on median values of bread and iron ore for gold coin.
this would completely eliminate scamming since players could no longer make lopsided trade offers
except when doing direct trade with friends/guildies. The 24hr wait might reduce scam trades but
it won't eliminate them.
2) instead of the pop up notice when a trade goes through or fails go back to sending an email.
but without the need to accept/decline. the email would just have the item/resources the player
wanted to receive.
This way the player knows for sure they actually received the correct amount. I've seen several
players mention in Help chat that they didn't receive the correct amount.
example: they accepted a trade of 10k stone for their 100 gold coin. after the trade completed
they had 100 less coins but only 1k more stone.
3) either fix the sorting issue others have mentioned or just have 1 page and we just keep scrolling.
4) expired trades should actually disappear from the list after refreshing trade.
i absolutely disagree with 1) on your list. there is no way the game should limit us on how many apples we can trade for oranges. stop trying so hard to protect the noobs who dont wanna take the effort to learn trade prices, this protect the stupid attitude is part of the reason why this country is going downhill fast
that being said, i actually agree with the remainder of your post, these are obvious flaws and bugs in the new system
also a few things to add
u can post a trade to sell a gold depo, but u cant post a trade to buy 1.
ML and OF cant be traded for some reason.
you can only post to buy fish and meat depos in stacks of 100.
the history tab doesnt always update as it should. on tht note, it appears if you do some trading, then refresh your browser, it starts updating automatically like its supposed to. as soon as you visit some1 elses island, or an adv island, it screws it up again
Well, there are some things i like about the new trade system and some things i don't. The worst thing is the SLIDER for selecting the amounts you want to sell.
Firstly, the typeset for the numbers is SO tiny i almost need a microscope to see it. Secondly, i could sit there for 10 minutes just trying to get the slider on the exact number i want. It would make SO much more sense to have some sort of box where we could just TYPE in the numbers. For example, if i want to sell 555 wheat for 555 flour, i would rather just be able to TYPE in those numbers instead of monkey around with a slider that never seems to hit the exact number i want and is so tiny i can barely make the numbers out without squinting.
On the upside, i really like that i can trade for amounts larger than 400 now. And i also like that the trade goes straight into my inventory with no extra clicking on emails. I LUV the filter feature, it helps a LOT. I also luv that we can trade buildings and adventures now. I was NOT happy about the fact that i still can only do one trade at a time unless i spend either gems or coins, i would like to run at least 2 trades at a time for 'free', but i guess i can live with that aspect. It is the SLIDER that is the major turnoff for me. So, pros and cons, some tweeking needed.
P.S. I agree with LostSoul abbout Giogini's 1st suggestion. I too am tired of living in a nanny state where everyone wants their decisions made FOR them!! Being able to trade my items for what i think they are worth and being able to spend what i feel something is worth is what makes the game and the trade worth playing. In a limited sense it can also be a good education and prep for younger players for someday learning to play the stock market in real life. A fixed rate for everything is a very bad idea.
You can type in the numbers. No need for the slider.
I'd disagree with number 1. The market is a free market and thus it does not make sense to have someone or a system to assign a fixed price on items. The players decide whatever price they want it to be (Even though the price seems to be fixed in a certain range). Isn't it simple for us to just decide how much we want to sell/buy than code the game system every few days or week?
You cannot feed people their whole life, you need to teach them how to grow plants and feed themselves. They need to learn the market, all they need is asking and observing. It is part of the game, isn't it :)?
Hello all on settler online,
Have lots two trades so far, one yesterday 10K iron swords and today 10K horse. Do not have these items in my history, so if someone did buy these item please contact me. If not, then where did the items go?
SetEsc
Well, after reading most of the posts there's not much to add, but.....
Sorting: yes, if there are 6 pages of filtered items you WILL need to sort all 6 pages properly on the first load.
After each purchase you're thrown back to page one and sorting is lost.
Paging seems to be a big problem. If you can't figure it out, get rid of it.
If I'm looking at Offer or Cost, I don't care about the other, take them out.
Let me Refresh as often as I like/need since many problems can be resolved this way.
The Search feature is a really great add-on but should not be the only way to find items.
It's nice to browse many different items to get a feel for what things are going for at the moment.
Edit: This is mainly an issue with Sorting and the new Paging - just a lot more clicking now.
I've had an offer up for over 30 minutes now and the time still says 10:36
after Refreshing AND reloading - is it still live or should I just cancel it.
Edit: Time is....the Time when your Offer expires. But the Offer was not removed.
How do I limit the qty I wish to sell so my ENTIRE inventory is not drained.
Edit: You can select 1-4 Lots to sell (not Slots) - wish there were more than just 4
It would be nice to have a field to type the qty in.
Edit: Once someone pointed out that the qty is an Input Field it appeared quite obvious.....
When Trade was in the Chat tab I could open both Trade AND my Inventory
to see how much of any resource I still had left while buying or selling,
but I know you can't have everything.
I really like the new expanded trade system, you can tell they've put a LOT of work in to it.
But these are things that should have been worked out in test. Not live.
As someone said, What's the use of testing if you don't use it?
The only reason I can think of for pushing this live was so that we all could give feedback
and feel that our input was valued.
I'd rather things worked when they were released rather than getting a fake warm and fuzzy.
The time is not a countdown, it is the time when your listing expires.
I don't understand how your inventory is being drained, unless your inventory is quite small. In that case, there's no need to list large amounts of things using all four lots. You can just put up a small trade with one or two lots for sale.
You can :) When you select what you're selling, the little box with the numbers in it showing the quantity can be selected and typed in. Just delete what's there and type in however much you'd like to offer.
1. The history tab seems to have a terrible lag time, sometimes as much as 8-10 hours. This makes it difficult to know what exactly sold or didn't sell while you were offline, and if it is worthwhile to re post that offer.
2. I wish the cost column was a number field instead of text field, at least for coin. When you try to sort by cost 1000 is less than 200, which is less than 30.
3. The sort feature often will not stick and re sorts to random when you change pages. Also, If you buy something on page 9 of 17, you get kicked back to an unsorted page one, after the purchase.
4. After refreshing often, when I try to buy something, sometimes I get "offer expired". I get that message way too often for it to be a coincidence that 20 seconds after refreshing the offer happened to expire.
5. Could you write some sort of macro that sorts out the completely ridiculous offers and puts them under the "Ridiculous Trades" tab? (Tongue held firmly in cheek) Since you have made new friends wait 24 hours to trade because of the "false friend" issue, I propose you simply rename the Trade Office the "False Friends" Office. The amount of people trying to scam new players is overwhelming.
6. Being able to post more than one of a deposit or adventure map would be handy. Why not allow lots of 4 for those items?
7. Once you get some of these bugs worked out, I think the trade office will be a great feature.
P.S. I just put up an offer to buy fish. The Trade Office says I have 16k fish, but my Mayor's house says I have 8k fish. Is there any way to get the Trade Office and the Mayor's house to agree on the amount in stock?
P.S.S. My history tab finally updated from 12 hours ago. I put up 4 lots of 1000 bows for sale. 4000 bows are gone from my inventory. But the history tab shows I only sold one lot. There is nothing that says what happened to the other 3 lots. There seems to be no way of actually knowing if something sold since it's all automatic with no notifications anymore. I'm beginning to wonder if I am simply losing resources without getting what I thought I traded for.
[QUOTE=Giogini;190357]suggested tweaks to the new trade system:

Crazy idea. Instead of having a free market, let's completely eliminate the people in the market setting the price and have BB set it for us. Stupid. The whole point of having a free market is to let the traders establish the market price.
All free markets have decent sorting algorithms that let people easily find the highest bidding buyer and the lowest price seller so 99% of business happens at a reasonable, fair market value. This one doesn't, and probably 75-80% of the lots in the trade system are at least 25% away from the high-bid/low-ask (fair market value) point.
The trade tab should have a "Show Only High-Bid / Low-Ask" option (using product ratios), that filters out all of the ridiculous trades. Most players would have this option checked and only fair market value trades would be visible. People would have to post fair market value trades to be seen, or to move any product. With only these trades available -- we could do away with the pages and just have a pure scroll.
It would do wonders to stabilize prices, increase volume, protect newbies, simplify the interface, etc.
New system, still learning, aaaand repeating what other people said on test.....:o
On test you couldn't set Lots, and confused Lots with Slots (ashamed I actually did that too).
Once someone pointed out that the qty was an input field it appeared quite obvious.
A lot of players still haven't noticed this feature, which was why I came back to edit a post.
And I SWEAR, when I posted that Offer it was nowhere close to 10:00 /p
Actually a different way to display that info without updating every single line item every minute.
Tnx.
I love the new system and think it has great potential. I didn't read through all the pages of responses but here are my 2 cents:
1. The lag in history showing sales/purchases is creating a problem. People are assuming they've lost items and or coins all the time. (I keep seeing it in help chat all day.) For myself, I see that the transactions are going through on my news feed but even a refresh of my browser doesn't bring up the most recent transactions.
2. It would be great to be able to have our inventory open at the same time as the trade window. Sometimes I see a good sale and don't know if I can really afford to give up the stock to do the trade. (On a side note, it would be wonderful if all the menus could be pinned open like the building menu can be now.)
3. Please don't take us back to the first page of transactions when we've made a deal. It's frustrating to have to re-sort and find your spot again, especially if you're trying to look for people buying with coins.
4. A Cost and Offer checkbox in the filters would help to narrow the transactions down too.
Sorry if these are all repeats. :o
Oh, and I vote "No" to set prices. This is, and should always be, a free market. If we have set prices then we might as well have an NPC in the game that we sell our resources to.
Oh, and I forgot to ask but why can't we sell Motherly Love or Old Friends adventures even as a direct trade now??
I really need gold deposit request installed, like offer 200 gold coins for 500 gold ore deposit. We can only sell that at this time, and 24 hrs friend cool down made it impossible to buy from strangers.
We shouldn be able to trade with ANYONE we want, we should not be limited to just friends or guildies. If we need to limit, the lootspot activity should be limited, as that seems like a bug to me.
On the search function - it'd be great if I could specify whether I'm searching by Offer or Cost. When I look to sell stuff, I search by coins, but I really only care about coins in the Offer column. Yes, I can sort by Offer, but there are the numerously-mentioned issues with sorting, and ultimately, the goal of a search function is to reduce the result set - searching for coins by Offer further reduces the amount of data returned to me, and may eliminate pagination issues.
I can't think of the situation where I'd search for something and be opening to both buying and selling it. Seems like you're way more likely to want to do one or the other.
Copy/Pasted from: http://forum.thesettlersonline.net/t...o-Trade-Office.
Some improvements to Trade Office.
I know, there's probably a dozen or more of these threads but I thought i'd weigh in on some issues that nag me.
#1.) Obviously there needs to be a revisit on what can be bought/sold. An example is that you cannot, at present request a 500 gold deposit. You can list one for sale, but if I wanted to buy them on my terms, and list say 200gc for a gold deposit, I can't because that option isn't there. The same is true of Motherly Love and Old Friends. i'm not even sure you can *sell* them either. Is this intentional? There's a few other items that can't be bought/sold as well. If we're going to have a trade system this robust it needs to include all items.
#2.) "You have sold 1 lot." ...of what? Is it impossible to code in a little block of marble and 5000? or the icon of say Witch of the Swamp? drop me an email? I hate having to go back and recheck what just got sold to see if i've got a slot open to sell something else. This probably isn't a big issue for most people as most people don't list more than 1 item, maybe 2... but when you're listing 11 items, it's helpful to know.
#3.) Price per stack. I know this one is more complicated because what is a stack now? 100? 1000? 10000? But there needs to be some sort of standard set and in doing so a cost assessment. So it would say:
Marble | 10000 | 100 (10/stack) While it's great that we are free to post however much we want, a quick browse of the trade office in it's current state shows that most people are either A.) Idiots who can't do basic math B.) scammers or C.) people who just don't know how much they should be charging so they're undercutting the next guy who's already posting a crazy price because he doesn't know either.
#4.) The sorting issue needs to be fixed past page 1. There's a workaround past it, but really, this shouldn't be hard to fix. (Hit Cost, then offer, then Cost again.)
#5.) We should be able to refine our search to Offer / Cost. When I'm looking to buy marble, i don't really need to see the 100 or so offers of people who are looking to buy marble too. It's just needless and makes more work for me to sort through the offers.
#6.) This amount goes with this amount. I don't remember most of my programming days but i do remember you can have a field display in order by type. I.e.: 1 comes before 5, which comes before 10, which comes before 10,000. Seeing 1, 10,000, 2, 20,000, 50, 500, 50000... again, more work that could easily be fixed with some coding changes.
#7.) Multiple lot purchases. Nothing frustrates me more than seeing someone have a really good deal on the trade office, buying it, and having to ask them if they have more at that price because i can only buy one lot of it. If the person selling the item is selling 10 lots of it, and i want to buy 5 lots, i should be able to select that somehow and buy more. Otherwise i'm stuck hoping for another better deal.
As it is right now, because I sell at original Trade Tab prices instead of the ludicrous prices most everyone else is charging, i'm actually frequently asked if i have more at that price and having to cancel the order and relist for the full amount to satisfy a seller. I just want to sell my goods. i don't want to have to hope 4 people want it when 1 person could buy it out.
edit: For the people who want more lots it costs you gems, but below the "Lot" slider is a big shiny button that says "Unlock". for the god awful price of 19 gems, you can get 16 slots instead of 4.
