Playtest
So just throwing this out there , but did you guys try to playtest the new trade system to a WIDE audience for a lengthy portion of time before deciding to make the changes to the trading system? What was the feedback you recieved from those who tried it?
Really , I see just another step thrown in place before you can get your trade done by trying to protect newbies somewhat (who are still going to get bilked in a round about way unless they educate themselves prior - which is the real focus to make here and not this path).
In a trading game being separated from a wider audience (and hence your potential trade action) to me only slows the process. I see this as a negative for this game in its current form without something else like PVP to hold your attention , you have to swallow a new dose of boredom in this.
I do realize where this comes from , and that the intentions are good , but were on the gold paved highway to down under here. Maybe making this restriction OPTIONAL , and having the DEFAULT set as NOT restricted trading might have been better with a warning of the potential pitfalls , suggestions and EDUCATION for the new player might have been a better path here.
Of course I refer to trade restrictions here.. not the fact that you can post multiple trades at the same time.. that was a good idea. Kudos there. Anyhow I hope you watch how this is recieved CLOSELY. If you see it as a negative to your product , have said modifications ready to go at a moments notice already tested and trued. Then you can pull the plug on these changes should that seem the correct thing to do.
Thanks for letting me play!

The friend trade cool down timer was on the test server for nearly a month and the feedback they got was unequivocally negative. Here's one such thread:

There's a link in that thread to the post made by official BB staff on the German forums explaining how to deal with loot spots and auctions (Lord Sheldon, a player on this server, also seems to have explained the same process in the thread started by BB staff here).

Gotcha.
Yeah well trying the new system for the first time here, the learning curve isnt steep , but I suppose the fact its different will discourage some. I do note the friend timer doesnt appear to be in effect in the trade office so that much seems good and should quiet some of the complainers.
Thanks for the links. Again Ill watch closely with interest and hope it works!
