Giving Thanks: Settlers Edition!

Freshly baked pie was the best of all smells. Bob the Settler’s family farm had an amazing harvest this year, and the near-constant scent of pumpkin pie lingered through the house. As he walked toward the farm, his mind drifted to thoughts of what he was thankful for this year. The sun disappeared for a moment when a fluffy cloud rolled through the sky. It looked like there might be snow coming later that evening. The air smelled like it.

There was so much he could be grateful for having happened over the past twelve months, but there was one thing in particular that stood out. Bob lifted his eyes to gaze on their latest building, tall and round. That silo had already made things much easier on them; the time it took to store their grain was nearly halved. He had absolutely no idea why it appeared out of nowhere, completely built, but its arrival was fortuitous and timely. They would make it through the winter with ease this year.

The smell of turkey and pie wafts through the air, families and friends begin to gather, and the leaves have turned beautiful colors. It’s that time again, to take stock of all that has happened in the past year and share our thankfulness with others.

But what about our little Settlers? They must have things they’re thankful for as well! For this contest, we ask that you get into the mindset of one of your Settlers and share their thoughts on this holiday. Are they thankful for the nearly endless supply of beer? Maybe that really awesome Noble House that was just upgraded or the new gift basket that Aunt Irma dropped off last night? Regardless of what it is, give your characters a voice!

My settlers are greatful for all the bakeries and breweries, as well as well as the hunter who now has LOTS of turkey to hunt down

Tim the handyman settler who had just finished fixing the copper smelter once again, was feeling a bit down today. Yes he had just completed another great deed and was looking forward to getting another bunny statue and gold star when he got home to his family and house just beyond the bakeries and mills, across the big lake in the middle of the island. But something just didn't seem right this year. What could it be, he thought? Troublesome thoughts of a feeling of continuous guilt of hording the loaves of bread, while walking through the soldiers barracks each day watching them beat and sent out to their deaths by the island master, perhaps? Yes this could be the melancholy holding Tim down today. Now filled with a pure and clean sense of hope he stepped up his walk and even started singing as he passed through the creepy area where the witch of the swamp use to linger (before the master of the island sent yet another overwhelming hoard of calvery and blood thirsty crossbowmen).
Tim now finally reaching his destination of his glorious mayor's house (actually the small residential hut just to the right of the mayor's house that u can barely make out because of the huge overcasting shadow from the mayor's house) he opened the door where his family was awaiting, gold star and bunny statue in hands. He took up his two small children in his arms and said to them all, Let's go. To the storage house kids and bring 2 wheel barrows for we have more good tidings to carry out this year than any so far. So off they went they loaded loaves and loaves of bread up and trotting toward the officers barracks, started singing yet again medley's of an old song they learned when running into 7 little dwarves on some distant far away island. When arriving at the officer barracks and seeing beaten and bruised soldiers they explained to them this year they were all in for a feast. The soldiers eye's all widened, jaws dropped, and an overwhelming harmonic feeling of joy arose in the room. They gave three cheers to Tim and his family and pronounced, thus the best holiday yet. They gave much thanks and vowed to always protect Tim and his family for years to come stating the island master had never done anything like this for them.
Yes it was a good day indeed. And Tim and his family returned to his humble little residence. Tim after tucking his kids into bed and kissing them goodnight returned to his room and lay there. (Sleep well Tim, let the sugarplums dance wildly tonight) good night to all and to all a goodnight.

I am thankful for a whole lot of bread my bakery's have made for me! Also all the little fishy that float right into the fisherman's hands (not quite smart but oh well).

Thank you for keeping us employed and not taxing us, so we can pay our bills, feed our families and upgrade our buildings.

At this time of Thanksgiving we pause

On this day, we give thanks for the bounty of the island that Jugrnaut presides. We give thanks for the patience it takes to produce a simple life for us to cherish. This island we call home has brought us fish, logs for our fires, horses that we may ride, a peaceful land not full of wars. We give thanks to those before us to create this island of peace and honor their memories, and to the ones who survived the early days may the enjoy their blessings. One last thanks on this day to Mr. Jugrnaut for being a fair and patient leader for us and may he continue to lead us to peace and prosperity.

An Ode to the Drill Plan

Oh illustrious Drill Plan of staggering cost

As the leaves change colors I thank thee for all you help me achieve
and for consoling me from SE's paltry loot I receive!

Thanksgiving is a day we give thanks to the people we love...and after a long 8months of playing I give my thanks not only to my wonderful island that helps so many noobs and friends but to the WONDERFUL people I have met playing. I consider everyone I have met here Great friends but for the ones in my Guild I consider family and Ive had MANY MANY laughs with each and everyone. This game gives us more than just something to do after work or late night when were bored but allows us to meet different people from around the world and add new family onto our exsisting ones. Thanksgiving is about Family and I will def make sure to come on that day to give my THANKS to my Castle Empire Family!

We give thanks that the bandits and dangerous animals that once littered our land have been eradicated.

We give thanks that unemployment is nearly non-existent in our island nation. We hear there are other lands not as fortunate.

We give thanks that while many traders are attempting to take advantage of the uninformed, there are still honest men and women in the world.

And we give thanks to our army, who boldly fight the good fight. And return with lots of loot. Oh, are we grateful for the loot.

I am thankful for the protection my lord and master has provided for me and my family the bandits no longer take everything from us. We have law or order and work and food. We have the ever growing protection of the my lord and masters armies. He brings in materials from exotic islands for us to use and to make new and better things for us all. Most of all I am grateful that he is a wise and hard working lord who cares for his people!

I, Kemma the Settler, am thankful for the silos that help keep my grain, which enables me to make an abundance of bread and brew.

I played that shame too many years and now the settlers took the shears and cut it off my mind, that game had made me blind for better things in life but settlers shook me out and thats what I am most thankful about :-)))

As he ran his hands accross his sleepy eye's, Simon had arisen to a mild morning filled with sunshine.

An explorer had just come in with News of Gold Mines to the South. Much was to be done this fine day

with building and planting to get ready for tommorow. The warehouses and mansion were up to a

pleasing level of all goods. Pumpkins had been traded for much needed supplies, and even some extra

buffs and things that realy helped to get ahead. It had been a very good year after joining

the Guild, and learning so much more. And making new friends had been rewarding as well.

So it would seem that Simon had many things to give thanks for on this Thanksgiving Day.

My settlers are thankful for having a roof over there heads and someone to take care of them because they love their families.

I will share a little story about an event happend on my Island I hope you'll enjoy it!


The next day Bob from the Settler's family, in his Noble Residence that was newly upgraded and redecorated, was woked up by the smell of a fresh cup of coffe.Aunt Irma before she go prepared a coffe and she let one for him to.He was so tankful and grateful for it that he started to sing.
Woked up and ready for another beautiful day in paradise he went outside.
The sky was grey, the wind was blowing, it was such an awful weather and wind was so strong because of that trees were bending all around.He need to go to tavern to buy some goods and prepare for winter and more of that he need it to reaise his coal production and to be sure that he have enough for passing in good condition this winter.
Along the road almost near the Tavern Bob our hero see a broken wheel.That was so strange because he didn't saw any carriage.But not so far after he follow the traces he see an incredible scenery almost like a picture from a movie.
Tavern was on fire other wheel hit some boxes whit alcohol siting right next to tavern.. and thus set it on fire.Not far away on a bedflower was one beautiful lady, definetly a noble one.Bob rushed immediately whe he saw her.He took her gently, asking her if she is ok and what was her name.
Mary was a little dizzy and shocked,but under that circumstances after flying from a speeding cariage she was very well, she did landed on a blue bedflower.She was so gratful that was alive and well she even kissed the pour Bob.Now stading on her feet, shaking but stady she started to ask about Dima!Confused Bob was wondering: "-Who the f. is Dima?" Mary sensing his confusing explained that Dima was her carriage driver. And started to explain how horses went crazy after seeing a witch on a "not finished" pumpkin field.
A lot of people were around the tavern trying to help in the relentless efort of puting the fire out.All settlers were worry about that fire cause if it reach one farm then all of them would be in danger.Now when the newly silo is so close to tavern their provision are on risk too.Everyone was working hard to carry water from the nearest well.After a cruely half an hour of battle whit fire they finaly extinguish it.They were so happy and thankful that they did manage the crysis and put and end to fire that threaten all island.
That was the end of tavern.. it became a useless building..and settlers even started to remove it and make space for another building.(that's a true story :D)
Back to our beloved Bob and Mary..some people were angry and started to ask who is responsably for that disaster where is the driver that made such a
move that could distroy all island.
All hands poiting to Mary.After a few explanation the "angry mob" found about Dima.
But "our" Dima is a noble settler for a neighbourn Island who just dissapeared after he saw that more then half of settlers in the tavern were very "high" after a night of party whit brew..and more "trade mark :)" drinks.After the accident he tried to reach Mary, but Bob reached first..and he didn't have any choice but to dissapear.It's a real mistery how he did it.
In the end I guess all settlers were thankful for rescuing the village from fire. I know for sure that Mary was thankful for her life,she was alive after that amazing stunt.Bob was tankful that Mary now will stay at his home untill further notice.:).Dima is tankful that he managed to escape. And I'm tankful that I finish this "short" story. ENd.

True Thanksgiving Prayer
Thank you, The Benevolent One, for not sending a plaque on my house. Thank you for not killing all my relatives in one day leaving me alone to bury them. Thank you for not scorching my fields as often as you could. Thank you for not taking gems away from me when I buy them with my own money. Thank you for not sending Grim Reaper's army to destroy my habitat with no reason so ever. Thank you for not poisoning my wells and not neutering my horses. Thank you for not setting our Mayor's army against me and not making all my mines exhaust at once when least expected. Thank you for not killing me right now just for the fun of it.
Your mercy has no bounds and I praise you for being so good to me.

I am thankful for free gems

DD the settler is Thankful for all of his brothers new and old. As we sit here preparing to feast welcoming retired bandits to our brotherhood, knowing we all shall be sent to battle but No not this day. This day we sit united as we all fill our bellies with lots of bread and brew. Simply Thankful for our past to bring us to the present waiting to open the gift to see what tomorrow will bring.

My settlers are thankful for their new great leader, The Grim Reaper. He is fearless in battle, and does not seem to die! Now, my settlers feel a lot safer with him leading them against their enemies.

Thank you for granite.

As mayor of a slow but thriving community and military power. We are thankful for the community as a whole sacrificing manpower and resources to free the once uncharted lands from barbaric tribes. And now we sacrifice these same resources and manpower to provide assistance in other uncharted lands be it to conquer the evil forces or to help defend other small communities in uncharted and hostile lands. And even ask other mayors through guilds to assist in our quest to help and maintain peace through teamwork and mutual sacrifice. Not excluding the possible rewards of sacrifice through the means of looting but building long lasting friendships.

Thank you Lord for the life You have given me, and for looking over my family, because without you in my life, nothing would be possible.....Lord of Lord, King of Kings.

John had just become a man, he had to take on a responsibility. Everyone had told him to be a fisherman, or a farmer. But John didn't want a job like that. John was a smart, nice, and simple man. John was a master in the art of prediction, planning, and execution. Some villagers had even called him a prodigy. So he wanted a job that not only helped the empire expand and flourish, but helped the people of the empire stay safe and maintain its stature in the world. Deep down, John wanted to help control something, to be a head figure in a branch of the empire. But he wasn't quite sure how he would come to do this. He knew he was not a major voice in the empire, but he just needed to get his voice out there.

John had thought long and hard, and after much though he knew what he had to do. He had to get his name spoken throughout all the village. He knew this would cause the head figures of the empire to eventually hear of him and wonder why he was being spoke of so much. So john began by going around the empire and doing good deeds and helping the people of the empire. He had done this for several weeks, he was in fact the talk of the streets. But still, he could not get to speak to any head figures of the empire.

Then it happened, 2 weeks after talk of his deeds had died down, a large group of bandits attacked the empire. Bandits were ransacking the storehouses and residences. John was sitting on a log when all this began. Then a bandit tried to break into a noble residence about 30 yards from where he was sitting. John then began to hear the faint scream of a little girl yelling for help. John jumped up off the log and started sprinting. His body moving viciously fast was not used to this degree of physical activity. But he kept sprinting. He arrived at the residence to find the little girl over the bandit's shoulder, and to make matters worse, the bandit had set the building ablaze. John was stunned, he did not know what to do at first, he had never been in a legitimate life or death situation. But then it came to him, he needed to save the girl without killing the bandit, so the bandit could be punished for his crimes. John leaped across the room to the left, swift like a bolt of lightning. He laid flat on the ground, knowing the smoke above would cover his position. He crawled towards the bandit and grabbed his right leg and tripped him. The bandit fell and dropped the girl. John proceeded to subdue the bandit by using the rope from the bandit's bag of stolen goods to tie the bandit up. He then grabbed the little girl and took her outside, "wait here" he said. Then he ran back into the residence and dissapeared into the thick black smoke. He reappeared dragging the bandit out of the house. After breathing for a moment, a man on a carriage came racing towards them. The man on the carriage stopped and asked what happened. John explained to the man and the man agreed to give them a ride to the center of the empire, the mayor's house.

After arriving at the mayor's house, John had turned the bandit over to the authorities and explained what happened. After much discussion, John found out that the building the bandit was the building of a head figure in the empire, and the little girl was his daughter. The father was so happy that John had saved his daughter that promised John one favor. John knew this was his chance. He explained his dilemma to the official and the official had an idea for John. He had explained that the empires' military needed a strategic coordinator and thought John might be the guy for the job. The official had John plan a mission against a massive bandit settlement near the empire. John had planned such a perfect strategy that the empire did not lose any soldiers and the empire gained very important resources.

The official saw this and was amazed. He spoke to the mayor about John, the mayor agreed that John was to be the strategic coordinator for the military. To commemorate this occasion, the mayor allowed John to make a speech in glory of this occasion. So when it was tine for his, John was standing in front of 500+ eager ears, all waiting for what John had to say.

John had said this " I am not a man of rich upbringings or important stature. I am merely a man who wishes to help his fellow people. And here, i do not thank everyone for being the military's strategic coordinator. I thank you for the care you have all shown to me, for the hard work and wisdom you have all given to me while growing up. You have helped shape me to be the man I am today. Without the people of this empire, I am merely a man behind a desk making drawings. So I thank you, for the life you have helped me live, and the things you have given to me and done for me.".

This was the most amazing speech the empire had ever heard. And from that moment on, John was considered the greatest military strategic coordinator the empire had ever known...

My island superintendent told me that last night he and his wife donned their nightcap and long johns, then sank to their knees beside their pine log frame bed. They gave thanks for the bounty of pumpkins, fish, wheat and venison they had harvested in the past month, allowing them to bolster their food stores for the winter. Further, they gave thanks for their good health and prayed for continued vitality. They gave thanks to all the families of the island, the country and the world, in that tomorrow would be a better place. As I reflected on his words, I shared with my own wife how thankful we should be for our own good fortunes and dreams. We took a brisk walk to the island church where we prayed and lit candles of respect for God's way and resources. As we returned home, we planned a great Thanksgiving Feast for the island community which we hope will become a seasonal festivity.

On this day of giveing my settlers give thanks. Because i take abreak from fighting to feed the ranks. No one will die no not today we will be happy as a family but just for 1 day. For tommorrow 3 Roaring Bulls will have to be played. Half of my settlers will die but its all for the good. At least they had 1 day of really good food. Aries711
