Thank you for our daily bread, and keeping unemployment low, and dealing with the noisy neighbours. They don't seem to last very long.
On this, our first Thanksgiving since our arrival on this strange isle, we give thanks for the prosperity that this land has provided. From our first day ashore, when we stumbled upon a strange patch of orange orbs hidden in a thick smoke from what could only be a witch's cauldron...until this day of writing these words of thanks on this page of the community Biblethread...we continue to gain experience and jewels of wisdom. Our farms produce unlimited bounty and our breweries fill our mugs with joy. Lo - we have cleared the lands and vanquished our enemies - sectors 1-5 - and discovered gold in the sacred Hunting Grounds. To the north, the earth has opened her veins to provide black coal - and we see an industrial future of growth and the challenge of harnessing its power without spoiling this land where the water still runs clean and the fish almost jump into our nets. There be challenges yet - CHUCK fills our hearts with dread while our young men train hard with swords of bronze, iron and steel and learn to ride the ponies that we have lured into our stables...Our faithful explorer has penetrated the mists to the northeast and we fear his vision of endless camps of the most cruel and savage creatures...and yet, on this day, we give thanks that our harvest has been so great, we must soon rebuild the Mayor's Residence for the third time. Entered this day 15 November in the Year of Eliot 2012.

Elaines Island is going to celebrate Thanksgiving with some fresh shot Turkey, some fresh dressing with some sausage in it. The neighbors are bringing a
hog over to put on the spit in the early morning to go with some greens. The other neighbor is bringing mince meat pies, more than likely a Apple pie and a Cherry pie too. It will be a nice party, it will be a lot of fun after we get done with the cleaning, we can all get the musical instruments out and have a jig. It will be a wonderful weekend for all.
I'm thankful that almighty Zeus has allowed the world to exist for another month.
Another day has ended, the hammers quiet now
They settle in their homesteads, rest needed from the plow
A special night on the island, treats fresh from the oven
Butchers and Bakers pride and joy, delivered by the dozen
Just before the feast begins, a hush falls at the table
Thanks is given for all their gifts, for all that they are able
Remembered are the early days, the hardy ways of living
Smiles shine upon their faces, as they share their thanks giving
Peace

"Hi, i'm Hans, i've settled in to the young settlements of our gracious leader SimPY_ last year. I've got a great job in one of the copper melteries, it's hard work, but we lack of nothing. I'm grateful for having been given the chance to join this new settlement, We all are. We see it grow and help it build. Our master gives us a clear task and in return, we get a home, food and protection from those pesty bandit camps beyond the Tri-Island lake. thank ya, Lord."
(SimPY_: try to read it with an accent ;-) )
As a settler, I give thanks for a job in during this economic turmoil. I have served countless tours as a cannoneer oversees battling pirates and fanatics and I am thankful that I have not lost my health. The local monks have filled my life with endless brew and the bakeries with an endless supply of delicious bread. I give thanks to the bounty provided to the denizens of Blamopolis.

My name is Charles, I remember my first day arriving on this wondrous island, the rolling fog that blanketed much of the island. The hidden promises of wealth and beauty, mine for the finding if I took the time to try. The peaceful serenity and undemanding labor, the ability to succeed at my pace. Driven by sheer curiosity I brought the brilliance of the sun to kiss my land one sector at a time, beating back the heathens that had hidden in the gloom for far too long. People heard of my slow yet laborious task, I built them homes and promised work for those willing to. I offered structure and military for those more decided towards protecting the splendor of the kingdom they saw rising from the island's opportunity. I sought out others looking for kinship and knowledge, ideas and thirst for the unquenchable desire to create our versions of heaven on earth. Every sector a new chance, each structure a beginning of a legacy that would surpass all expectations. Harmonious existence between man and nature, the ability to encompass all around me without abusing it and setting the foundation for the greatest Kingdom in all existence. My people and I rule and coexist on this beautiful island, my troops live or die for the rights and freedoms of our people, we thrive and grow and continue ever forward. Our steps are slow yet meticulously planned, implemented and bring health to all involved. I give thanks for the gift this island gives me, and the lives I briefly touch that I may never have known before coming here.
I am thankful for free gems
"Man are we thankful that the lord emperor out of his mayor's house tells us to rebuild our wells and fields when they run out! Without his direction, we would just let those fields lay fallow and wells run dry! Though I have heard that with this new invention called a "silo" and a "watermill" we wouldn't need that direction...still, we're not rich, so we're thankful he comes by every day to instruct us to build!" -A hardworking Farmer from the Empire of Greyhnir
im thankful for endless amount off copper ore i make for my settlers
In the immortal words of Homer Simpson:
"Beer . . . ."
It has been a difficult year so at first glance I may not have much to be thankful for. My mother was diagnosed with cancer and passed on May 26th, my nephew wa so devastated at the loss of his grandmother that he hit a rough patch and went into a deep depression. Then 4 weeks ago their house (meaning my nephews) burned down and they lost everything. One would think having a year like that would leave little to be thankful for but I've come to the conclusion that is not the case. This year I am thankful that my mother passed. It brought the family much closer together and although she is gone and terribly missed, we are a tighter stronger family for having made it through her illness by her side. We will always miss her but we will miss her together. I'm thankful that my nephews house burned down. This woke my nephew up from his horrible depression and reminded him there is still a world out there and he was needed in it. He was able to have a fund raiser with his friends and all they lost - and a bit more - was given back whole and new. He has a new spirit now and a fresh outlook on life. It's really simple to look at what we've suffered through and say there is nothing to be thankful for, but if you look closely you will find that's not true. Being thankful for everything in my life this year, all I have and all I will miss. And thankful for this game to fill in the boring hours when I don't have anything to do..... happy Thanksgiving all!
i dont understand ! how is working?
How do I sit and write some foolishness after reading Knutly's entry? Spoken from the heart and with great insight. the piece was inspiring. Bless you and your family, Knutly. Happy Thanksgiving.

we the people of the island are thankful that there is a peaceful life for all of us. In far away lands people say that there are some crabs called politicians who don't know what is peace and snatch it from others. We hope for those people whose hard earned money is used for filling someones else pockets that they soon have a peaceful life.:D:)

Little Tim watches outside eagerly awaiting his father. praying and praying he is one of the lucky men that get to return from the very many wars there island has fought and won. Wars seem to run extreamly frequently on there little island. The mayor of this island seems to want to loot every opposing force that may show its face. He doesnt even take the time to think about the settlers or how they feel. How every single family is affected. The Mayor forces the settlers to increase the production of every possible thing to make more room for settlers, to build more, and most importantly in his eyes, to create the most dominating army anybody has ever seen. Copper ore should be overflowing with how much is being produced but it turns straight to bronze bars and then to either tools or bronze swords for the newly trained recruits to use, (hopefully very well might I add.) From the dominating army the mayor has created it is garunteed that we will win yet another war, yet it is never garunteed who comes home, except the generals of course. Tims dad lost his job as an iron mine worker. It was expected by the way the mayor was producing iron and iron swords. There isnt a high enough demand for it. I mean the mayor thought there was going to be. He set up a massive mine that has to have nearly 20,000 iron ore hiding inside, but he even took all the workers out of there. maybe once in a blue moon will he add a job or 2 to create more iron ore, but not for a while now it looks like. So, Dave, (Tims dad), worked on the wells that kept coming in for a while, but he was always gone and he wasnt making enough money to support his family as he wanted to. They mayor put out a notice for a new pay system for people joining the military. Just the bonus alone would set his family nicely, yet there was a contract that he had to sign, which means after the bonus, there is no turning back.
Tim sits down at the dining room table and says a quiet prayer to himself.
"Dear Lord, please let my dad return this time. I dont know what I would do without him. He is my everything. He is teaching me how to be a man and support my family when I grow up. This would be the best holiday gift a boy could ask for."
Soon after finishing his prayer there was a lot of commotion outside. Usually this means that our warriors arrive back in victory. As it was, Tim runs outside looking all over for his father. He cant seem to spot him though. He looks through all the recruits and he fails to see his father. Tim falls to his knees bursting in tears, certain taht his father has passed in this last war he was in. He turns his back on the rest of the forces entering back onto the island.
"Tim!!!! Where are you going? I have been dying to see you!!!" Exclaimes his father Dave.
Tim turns around and notices a huge perfectly shaped bow on his back, and it looks like it takes a differant kind of arrow, as well as it looks extreamly powerful. Its a crossbow!!! At this time Tim is stunned because to be promoted it takes years or great connections, which Dave has neither of.
"DADDY!!!! How, how did you get promoted?" Tim sniffles getting his composure back.
"I was a better shot then all the bowmen, and longbowmen. I became the first crossbowmen this island had. I am the most valued asset to our military so far!!! I also have news that I am not allowed to announce. We are having an island meeting by the mayors house for my news to be announced though."
All the families gather to the mayors house to see what this big announcement is supposed to be. Evilviper stands at the podium and jestures for everybody to become silent.
"I want to make a grand announcement to all of you!!!" Exclaimes Evilviper in his commanding voice. "It is the holidays!!! Why should we stop doing as we are doing?? Why should we not increase production even more? Why should we not run into battle even faster when nobody will be prepared?? Why should we stop our grand island from prospering??
The crowd looks around, extreamly displeased with what they are hearing. You can hear alot of uncomfortable shuffling going on in the massive croud.
"Does anybody have a good answer for me?" States Evilviper
The crowed refuses to answer. Its not because they are scared of Evilviper, its because he has created as close to a utopia as possible at this time, and the people as a whole like the outcome of everything. They like having the money to not have to worry about anything, they like having the jobs that he is willing on giving. The love not having to worry about food. Yet they all understand that it takes sacrifice to get the grand lives that they have.
Becoming impatiant with the crowd Evilviper answers his own question. "BECAUSE ITS THE HOLIDAYS!!! We have worked our tails off for years, never taking a break. We have enough food to last us years. We have enough resources to last us years. We have enough weapons to stop production for at least a year and still survive. And, last but not least, we have proven over and over again that we are the most dominating force anybody has EVER seen!!! Producion will dwindle!!! Wars?? Wars will stop all together until we have a great need for them again. Yet, pay will never stop. This is our islands time to celibrate, and to celebrate even more, I have spent a bit of my own money to help us through the holidays!!!"
Evilviper pulls a huge sheet off of 3 buildings that were sitting there. 2 buildings show a shining blue gem on them that sparkles in the sunlight and another is a massive mine. The mine has a huge stock of copper ore on the outside of it.
"I have bought us 2 gem pits. This will make it so we can get more people to our island, refill our mines, hire more explorers, and possibly even another veteran general. We can even tarraform even more and make it so we can have even more buildings on our island!!! I have purchased 1 endless copper mine!!! This building is a level 5 building!!! It will stay double producing all the time so we can take pressure off of our copper miners!! They wont have to produce nearly as much as I have made them in the past. Enjoy the holidays and enjoy your families!!! Oh, one last thing...for all of your hard work...here is 650 of Aunt Irma's famous gift baskets!!! Enjoy!!!"
The crowd roars from the grand announcement. Nobody expected this day to come so soon. They have all worked so hard for it.
Tim runs home with his dad and straight up to his room. He gets on his knees and bows his head.
"Dear Lord, you have blessed this family with more then I could have dreamed. Our whole family is going to have a great holiday and a long break. We are going to be able to spend time with eachother without having to worry so much about work or war. You have helped my dad with his promotion, now I know he will always return from these wars he has to go on, yet you have also stopped us from going out on wars!! Thank you so much Lord. I couldnt be more thankful for You, our mayor, or my family Lord.
Later that day, Tims family enjoys there massive turkey dinner with all there friends and family, without a worry on there mind except eating too much.
A POEM TO OUR MAYOR FROM HER LOYAL SETTLERS!!
We are Thankful for all our fields,
And all the food that they yield!
From farms to cooking plants,
to resources filled mountains so tall,
We are Thankful for one,
We are Thankful for all.
We are Thankful for all the trees,
And We are Thankful for each,
Fish in the wide open seas.
We are Thankful for all that we can do,
But most of all....
We are Thankful for a Mayor like YOU!!!
