I thankful for my family that God give me and i thankful for my salvation, that God saves me from my sins, God is awesome
A candle flickered in the dank tent as the fabric door flapped aside.
"How is he?"
"Never seen gashes like that. But, he will live. What of the rest, anything I can do?"
The mayor stared at floor, the shredded mess of fabric that had been the general's uniform lay in a heap, soaked with blood. He tried to face the doctor but quickly turned. Through a gap in the fabric he could just see the last of the setting sun. The entire sea was glowing orange. For a moment the mayor almost smiled. He still loved that about this place.
"Surely a few stragglers may find their way?"
The mayor turned at last, his face now pale and hollow.
"No doctor. We found them all - what was left of them." The mayor did not say goodbye.
"Torn to pieces? By what?"
"Doesn't sound like coastal scavengers to me."
"The whole Eastern army? Gone?"
"What now?"
"It's a fiasco I tell you - I want to know how this happened!"
"The orders were mine-"
The room fell silent. The mayor was dusty and disheveled from the long ride, but it only magnified his presence. This settlement, this island, their lives, everything they had built was due to him, and they knew it.
"- and so the responsibility is mine." the mayor continued.
He strolled into the hall, gently placed his hat over the large map on the table and rubbed his forehead. He spoke, almost to himself, trying to explain.
"Our explorers warned us. The clans in the hills. North AND East. Far more dangerous. They keep wild beasts. We must have strayed too close. Ambush. They tore down out of the mountain before our troops even got to the..."
The mayor paused. The men and women were staring at him. He put his hat back on, stood up straight and cleared his throat.
"Fellow Settlers. We have suffered a terrible loss. Just as terrible as what you have heard. We all knew this could happen. This is still a wild and dangerous place and there are no guarantees."
Now he looked in turn at each face as he continued.
"But, I remind you, WE are still here. Our farms are still here. Our smiths. Our mills. New mines will be found. Weapons remade. The trades still bring gold. And new mouths to feed arrive every day."
Mugs clanked. Eyes met eyes. Traders in fancy dress bowed low to soiled miners. Brewers patted the crusted dirt off farmers shoulders. Each realized it as he spoke. They all depended on each other. There were cheers now as he went on.
"We WILL rebuild. We WILL continue. To the East and to the North. We will free this whole island! We will go on. Not because we must, but because this place is OUR home now. And OUR home is worth all this. OUR home is worth fighting for!"
A tent flap swung aside. The morning sun was up.
"You may come in now. The General is very tired, but well enough for visitors."
"Thank you sir."
The boy ran to the bedside excited, then fell to his knees. The bandages covered the worst of the wounds but the boy still wept at the sight.
"Have you heard?" said the doctor, hoping to cheer him up. "There's to be a feast."
"A celebration, now?" the boy seemed shocked.
"A thanksgiving," said the doctor. "The mayor has decreed it."
"But?" the boy recoiled, then blurted. "We lost! They all DIED!"
The doctor knelt next to the lad, and spoke softly.
"Now is when We must give thanks most of all. Thanks for what WE still have. We give thanks now for those who gave their lives so that we may go on. You see?"
The boy wiped a tear, sniffed and nodded.
After a moment, the boy looked up at the doctor.
"Can I still give thanks, for my pa? I mean, that he didn't die?"
"Of course you can. We all can."
Thanks for the 5 brew and shiny blade, now what did you want to do?
I received this letter from one of my settlers, who happens to be a general in my military:
Dear Large person who looms over our sky,
I'd like to offer my thanks for allowing me to join your community. You have a really nice island here and I'm glad that I can be a part of it. Also, thank you for the garrison you have assigned to me. It is unfortunate that I only have recruits under my command, but I am grateful that they haven't yet tried to hide my robe or played keep-away with my fibula. They do seem to be drunk most of the time.
I'm also thankful for the Thanksgiving season. I used to enjoy the Thanksgiving meal as a boy, but now it seems I'm not able to find a meal that will really stick to my ribs. The mothers at our PTA thought it was great that I could eat all the Halloween candy I wanted and still keep my thin figure. Little did they know that the candy was just falling right through me and piling up under my robe. ;)
I understand that the death rate has risen since I moved in. I apologize for this inconvenience, but yet it continues to happen as I have no control over it. I'm thankful that you purchased a tomb so that the dead could at least be buried in a proper grave, rather than being chained to cement blocks and tossed into Central Lake as they were before you purchased this tomb. The water was really starting to turn green and the fishermen were refusing to fish there anymore.
One last thing, the children at the new schools you built continue to make fun of me as I ride by. They say such remarks as, "Take off that mask, Halloween is over!" and, "Aren't you late for something, like your next birthday!" Funny as it may be to them, it seems inappropriate for a military figure of my rank. Let's at least consider maybe putting up a privacy fence around the schools, ok?
Forever in your service,
Death

On this day i am thankful for the generals who keep our boarders secure from the bandits
we settlers are thankful for lovely punkin pie. we will hunt are meat, so we got a big turkey to eat. Harvest are wheat to make bread and go to the settlers online feast!!
As dawn rose above the mountainous region of North Isle, Josiah, a humble woodcutter arose and was about to set off to the Great Forest to gather wood for the feast that his lovely wife, Isabelle, was planning for that evening. It was the Thanksgiving feast after all, and Josiah wanted to make sure that there be plenty of lumber for the fires that eve. Being a poor, humble woodcutter, Josiah had not much, but more than most men could ask for; a loving wife, 3 children, a roof over their heads, and a warm bed with three simple, yet wholesome meals a day. Life was grand as far as Josiah was concerned, and that’s the very thought that went through his mind when he stepped out his home and headed for the thickness of the Great Forest.
By Midday, Josiah had chopped nearly 4 score of wood logs, and was resting for a spell under the shade of a mighty oak tree, when frantic cries met his ears. Almost falling from the stump upon which he sat, Josiah rose to his feet, turned and cast his gaze northward, his chopping axe at the ready. Unable to discern the source of the cries, for they were still fairly distant, Josiah began to seek their whereabouts. Walking ever so cautiously between the mighty pines of the Great Forest and then concealing himself behind some brush, Josiah located the source of the disturbance to his daily routine. He eyed a traveling merchant family, tied up separately to a few hardwood trees, whilst a bandit harassed the merchant for the coin in his purse or other valuables, as the rest of his brood scavenged his horse cart for whatever they could find.
Being but a humble woodcutter, Josiah had no soldiering experience. He knew to take the bandits alone would be foolish and that he would be killed should he attempt it, but there was one thing Josiah had that could change the fate of this family…the element of surprise. Being a woodsman, Josiah knew the location of several of the great animals that lived in the Great Forest, having met a few actually, but one in particular made his home not but a few steps from where he currently was and decided to take a dangerous chance in attempts to save this merchant family. Kudar, the Great Brown Bear, resided in a cave just moments from the spot, and it being around midday, as Josiah knew, the great brown was more than likely in his abode escaping the hot sun. Ever so quietly, his heart pounding like a sinister drum in his chest, Josiah left the scene and stole his way towards Kudar’s cave. Just outside the opening, Josiah heard grunts from the great animal, and correctly discerned that Kudar was becoming aware of his presence. Taking what bit of food had left from his rest, he held it outstretched from his person towards the mouth of the cave.
Slowly, Josiah began to make out Kudar’s shape emerging from the cave. In a ferocious and massive bellow, Kudar let out a growl and began and trudge after the meal (either what was in his hand or Josiah himself) that had so graciously decided to come to his doorstep. With sweat pouring from his brow, heart literally felt as if beating in his throat, Josiah turned and ran towards the locale where he saw the bandits, the great bear in close pursuit.
Moments within reaching the bandits position, Josiah tossed the food he had with him with all his might toward the center of the area in which they stood, then diving into the nearby brush where he hid earlier. Much to his own surprise as the bandit’s, Kudar rushed towards the meal that Josiah had tossed, and upon hearing the bellowing of the great bear, the bandit’s were in awe to turn and see it charging directly towards them. With frantic screams of their own, they immediately began to scatter in all directions, completely forgetting the booty of which they scored for fear of their lives, dropping their weapons in the process. Upon seeing the bandits flee, Kudar chased after the bandit leader, as his tunic was of a reddish color, had shiny bits of metal in his teeth and profusely smelled like salmon. In the hysterical confusion and as the bear chased the leader, Josiah went and freed the merchant and his family, and using his axe the cut the ropes that bind them, lead them to safety.
Being that the bandits torched the cart and slew the horse that drew it, the merchant could salvage nothing from his wares he meant to take and sell at market. They were left penniless and far from home. Josiah, being but a humble woodcutter, took the family into his home, gave them shelter for the eve, and shared in his hospitality the very feast that was part of his daily labor. During this banquet of simple, yet wholesome cuisine, the merchant thanked Josiah for his courage and for saving his family, to which Josiah only replied: “Tis the Almighty who be needing thanks, for if it were not for Him and the courage He bestowed onto me, I would not have been there to save you.”
And so ended the thanksgiving feast…Upon the morrow, Josiah outfitted the merchant with a pack horse and a few coin to get them to the carriage station to where the merchant could deliver his family safely back home. Although but a humble woodcutter, Josiah was ever thankful to have the wherewithal to help his fellow man.
As a new recruit of the the Empires Army I give thanks that the kind recruiting Sergeant offered me more brew than I had ever had in my life as he regaled me with his adventures as a soldier in the Empires Army. I can only imagine my daily ration of brew and wonder how shall I carry all the medals of valor that I am sure to be awarded. I realize that a recruit is just a start and one day I might survive to return to my village as a recruiting Sergeant where I will have young men flocking about to hear of my adventures while I continue to drink all the free brew that I can to keep a steady stream of valiant recruits coming into the ranks. I know that my family will be proud of my conduct and I expect to conquer many new lands while also defending the Empire.
NOTE* This letter home to his family was found in Recruit Yint's tunic after he died a hero of the Empire in his first engagement.
Thank you for giving me a game I can play anywhere on any computer at any time
As I awake on this day of thanks, I am first thankful for the endless sun, except for one brief time in October. How the sun never goes away baffles my mind, but I am thankful that there is no rain. Speaking of rain, I am thankful for the crops that can grow without rain. Impossible you say? Not on this magical island. Looking out my window I am reminded to be thankful for the large amount of strong clones that seem to populate this island. Why do they all look the same? They must all be related. Oh, there goes a deer and beside it a wolf. This makes me give thanks to the wolves who never seem to attack the men or the deer here. They could take over this island if they wanted, but they seem content to just wander in and out of battles and construction sites. And lastly, as I set to work, I am thankful for the few mines that did not fall during my sleep and do not need rebuilding because rebuilding them is the most tedious job there is on this island, except for having to rebuild my fields when they also fall.
thank you for the food i can eat and also the oppertunity to get together with my family and also this great game
i am thankfull for having this game. I thank ubi.. for making this game and assasins creeds. i am thankfull!!!
Dear Cousin Davey,
I am thankful this year for many things. With help, we have successfully cleared the island of all bandits. Mary was tough, but she no longer threatens us. We have a pirate hut on our island, but the pirates there are friendly and have never caused any difficulty for anyone on the island. We routinely send expeditions out to find resources and new adventures. Though we loose some people on the adventures, they resources that are brought back help us to remodel buildings to make them more productive.
I am thankful that our mayor has built wisely and has taken time to make sure resources are available for all. The mayor keeps watch and builds whenever there is need and somehow magically doubles production to increase our bounty. We have plenty of brew, bread, and sausage and are able to make a modest living with our families. I even have time for quiet contemplation. I am the only person who works in my bakery. The peace of working alone gives me time to consider my future.
I hear that you have had some trouble on your island with Witches and High Dark Priests. I suggest that you and your family come join me on our island. We are always looking for new families to settle here and I know your ability to farm is always in need here.
I wish you well whatever you decide.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Nynaeve Seidler
My settlers and I are very happy for our prosperous island of natural wonders and that we have enough supplies that we can make it through the cold harsh world of war against bandits and natural preditors. But most of all the love that we all share on these wonderful holidays and happy gatherings. :)
As the first snow fallin ... Tom the settler knew winter is coming ...
After 9 month of struggling , lots of working ,effort and sacrifices , his family and some fellow settler finally clear out their island from bandit ..
That's the first thing he would like to thanks for ... in the coming Thanksgiving ..
A lot of things then came out in his mind , telling him how grateful he was for finally settle down in this island ...
So much help coming from the first day he and some of his fellow settlers landed here ...
Got a lot of great advice on how to build up the production line to fulfill all of their needs ...
Great crops from wheat fields to made out lots of bread and brew ... meat from hunters to made out a great and tasty sausages
Miner works hard to build up enough supply for the smelter and weaponry
In the middle of the year , the finally can hire a great general , to lead them take out the bandits from this island
Tom was grateful when he finally can build up his first gold mine , smelter and coinage ...
A lot of efforts puts in there .. many of resources that was gathered before used in this gold chain production
So .. when the first coin came out .. he's very gratefull for that ..
Tom was grateful to have a lot of pumpkin harvested this year .. they all look goods
So they can have some tasty pumpkin soup in family dinner when thanksgiving is coming
Children can have fun when carving out the pumpkin in the yard ...
So. when the first snow drops ... Tom realize .. that was too many thing that made him grateful for
Thanks they can settle in this island ..
* Happy Thanks giving to u all my friends ..
Thanks for making this year a great one ....
I am thankful that my family and friends are well and will be with us for the holidays. I am also thankful that the vets that keep us safe and free are Ok and God is watching over them. I am also thankful that I will have the opportunity to help feed those in missions on Thanksgiving that are less fortunate.
My settlers are very thankful that they are baking bread, so that all of those not so bright bandits can be bribed into picking up a sword for the empire. Their especially grateful to be at home with their families working the farms when they consider the mortality rate of the shock troopers. Their especially thankful for the endless supply of retiring bandits when they ponder the mound of bodies that their ruler leaves behind on ever adventure, and are more than willing to drink their fair share of the beer stock in honor of their fallen comrades.
The army is grateful for the careful planning that goes into every adventure to bring home the highly skilled troops, such as cavalry and crossbowmen. The fresh recruits pray for their safety and the hopes that they will eventually be trained up into soldiers.(only one in a hundred makes it through training)

Diary Entry: Sunday Nov. 20, 1689
I work for the mayor as a stable boy and one of my jobs is to watch the mares that are about ready to foal. I had a mare that was having trouble the other night so I went and fetched the stablemaster. Once the mare had given birth, and the two of us were just sittin in the straw admiring the new colt, the stable master said, "Theo have you thought of what you're most thankful for yet?"
"Naw, not yet Jed, you see it is kind of hard to just focus on one thing: I am so thankful for a number of things that I can't just say one best thing."
"Don't worry Theo, I am sure that one thing will just pop out at ya soon enough. You still have a few days before we get together to share the things we are most thankful for," said Jed.
Now I have been thinking about this being thankful for something and I confess that part of my problem is that I see good things in most everything around me. Take the new foal that was just born for instance. The other stable boys complain about having to stay up all night with a mare that is about to foal, but I am so thankful that I get to be a part of the miracle of a new life that it doesn't bother me to stay up with the mare. I am also thankful that the foal is a healthy, sturdy, well conformed colt. I am thankful that my da managed to harvest a goodly amount this fall and that my ma gathered berries, nuts and vegtables to store for winter use, and my older brother managed to gather two new hives of bees. I also am thankful for the job the mayor gave me in the stables, but all of those things just seem like things most folk have gotten or have done and they just don't seem like they are special enough. Well maybe Jed is right and I will find that one special thing to be thankful for.
Diary Entry: Monday, Nov 21, 1689
Ma has been feeling poorly for the past few days. Da said she was just plum tuckered out from all of the work she has been doing lately, what with butchering, smoking meat, drying fruit and berries, giving da a hand getting in the harvest, milking the cow, gathering eggs and looking after the few animals we have. I have been trying to get up early enough that I can help her with most of the chores before I go to the stable. At least I don't have to be at the stable early because I stay up nights with the expectant mares so the mayor told Jed that I didn't have to report in to work until mid afternoon. But I just can't seem to shake this feeling that it is more than just all of the work lately that has ma feeling poorly and the herbs that she has gathered for medicinal purposes just doesn't seem to be helping all that much. Now ma she says she is just happy and thankful that we have a plentiful amount of chores and food to keep her busy because that means we won't go hungry this winter and that is very important cause ma is expecting a new brother or sister for me to play with. Other that the plentiful amount of chores and food nothing has popped out at me to be extra thankful for like Jed said it would.
Diary Entry: Tuesday Nov. 22, 1689
It has been a very long day today and I am sitting here with a hurricane lantern watching the mares and trying to write in the dim light. Earlier today I thought I would have to tell everyone that I was thankful that my ma taught me how to read and write, and that da thought it was important enought to furnish paper to write my diary on. But now I know that what Jed said when he told me something would "pop out at me" was really what would happen. Turned out that Jed was right after all. You see the reason why the day turned out to be a very long one was because I got up early to help ma as she was still feeling really bad and I could tell that it was all she could do to give da his supper last night before I went back to the stable for the night. I had the chores almost done when ma started yelling to wake the dead. Why I dropped the empty feed bucket and lit out for the house like greased lightening. Turned out tha ma went into labor and I got to help deliver my new baby sister. So I know now what I am most thankful for. I am most thankful for the ability to see the wonder in everything in the world around me and that it led to me wanting to stay up with the mares, cause if I hadn't of sat up with the mares and helped deliver foals I might not have a new baby sister. She was turned around backwards and I had to shove her back up and turn her so she would be born head first. Ma told me that most likely saved her life.
Thank you for the endless supply of sausage, bread, and water that i am able to eat.
My settlers are thankful they are a part of the workers union. Because of this they can take their sweet time on their job and I can't fire them.
Used to be pretty scary to live on my island - there were bandits EVERYWHERE, and they were merciless! No sooner would our crops be harvested than the bandits would come along and take every grain! Those were really rough times for us! Then this wonderful mayor came along and changed everything. He hired some great generals, and they went out and clobbered every one of those bandits! Now we live in peace and safety - now we even need silos to hold all of our harvests!! We are SO thankful for our new lives of peace and plenty! (And our mayor is no slouch - he is even travelling to other islands and clearing the nasty folk off of them, so that they will not be a threat to our island some day.) Life is good these days, and we are all giving thanks!!
"Hear ye, Hear ye. Hear ye! Our beloved Settler-General has proclaimed this coming Fourth Day as Holy Day - one devoted to Giving Thanks for all the Bounty that this New World has provided! Le there be a Great Feast where none in our Settlement go hungry on this day"
Mines and foundaries have already closed down, their workers gleefully pitching in to reap the bumper crop harvest! Woodsmen traded axes for bows and sought wild game, millers and bakers worked around the clock, and fishermen cast their nets far and wide! And yes, the taverns were full and the breweries struggling to keep up with the Holiday demand for Ale:)
Aye, there is much to give thanks for! Why, back in the day...
We came here as a small starving clan to this land of Plenty! Fertile soil readily sprouted grain, wild game was plentiful and our shoals brimmed with fish! With bodies fed and hale once more, we could look beyond merely existing in the Present, and actually plan a Future! Rich mines and plentiful buidling materials allowed us to build a village, and foundaries then armed our peace loving settlers to combat the plague of banditry so rife before our coming. We brought ideas and traditions from the Old World to this new, but we also adapted to this New World's ways.
"Technology" the young'uns call it - stone gave way to marble, bronze to iron! With the new coal deposits just discovered, there's even a fringe cult worshipping "Steampunk", whatever that is! But unlike the old world we left behind, ruined and eroded, these new lands will not only be enjoyed me and mine, but for countless generations to come! The "New Way" preaches reuse and rebirth of resources - not depletion. Farming is now a science, as is animal husbandry. And the reforestation is a joy to see - much more pleasing to see young sapling rather than tree stumps! Aye, this land will be Home to the Settlement for many a year!
:::Sigh::: Looks around the Feasting Hall, and notices the bored but hungry looks on so many of the faces. "Enough with speechifying, my good Settlers - pass me a turkey leg! And Wench, an Ale !"
My settlers are thankful for the wonderful new roads that have been added to the island. My settlers were tired of wiping mud from their shoes! :P
We are all very thankful for... Soup beans. We really like soup beans.
I am thankful for what I have
Family and friends, good times and bad
Sometimes I want to run away
So to Settlers I do go and play
But regardless no matter what I see
I am happy and thankful to be me
So be grateful for what you have
Even on the days that you feel sad
Just remember tormorrow is another day
Be thankful that it has come your way.
My Settlers are thankful they have jobs, and are not getting sent out to die like the military do.
I am greatful that I am Canadian and was done cleaning the Thanksgiving dishes at least a couple of weeks ago :)
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!
I am thankful for my guild. The members of my guild are kind and thoughtful and they make this the best game ever!
my settler are grateful for the cute animals that wander freely through the woods without fear of hunters!
My Settlers are thankful to have such a wonderful leader like me... Keeping the unemployment rate so low even makes Barack Obama jealous!
Settler: We thank you for allowing Bartimaeus to take over control of our island from those horrible BBs and thank you for having Bart do such a good job of clearing out all those scary bandits that those BBs let run rampant around the island. :)
Well its a pleasure to make your acquaitance { southern tone }
I am new to the settlers and I have made my stake on the claim for my castle empire. I have to say what a beautiful land to settle down and just in time for thanksgiving. Its been such a challenge for us making our way here especially for me being a southern bell, I am not accustomed to wagon trains. Since our arrival we have been preparing for the thanksgiving festivities and would like to invite yall over. We are neighborly folks and thanksgiving to us is all about being thankfull for your abundance while sharing this wonderfull holiday with your family, neighbors and making new friends. Look forward to hearing from yall Ares folk.
My settlers are thankful for existence - to paraphrase Sartre -the world is a mirror of their freedom, a world in which they are condemned to be free - However they are not free, they will commit good and evil depending upon my whims. (Although we need PVP for me to make them real evil) which means they really do not exist in a true existential sense. Their lives have really no meaning at all.....kind of absurd. Tthis game is really kind of pointless isn't it?
But life with no meaning is better than no life at all. So yes, my settlers are thankful for their utterly meaningless existence.
Oh and Thanks for Kate, cuz she is kind of hot.
My settlers are thankful for their great leader, Bloxz, who helped them conquer land so they may grow wheat, hunt meat and make beer for their Thanksgiving feasts.
Im thankful for my Army so I know my island will be safe when im asleep
im thankful that this game was invented and im thankful mostly for "Skeletor" who helped and is helping ne on the settlers online.
,thanks
I'm thankful for all the many bandits to keep my settlers so terrified that they never consider rebelling at my tyrannical rule.
My settlers are thankful for seasonal events. They can benefit from premium buildings and specialists even if their commander is too cheap to buy gems!!
