I'm curious what the players would rate as their highest priorities.
Will be very interested in this poll's results! :)
Well my reply was "Re-Balance resources and Economy".
I'm not worried about the level 50 cap yet since I'm only level 40, though I'm sure in time that would become a priority.
Now, this poll will give a good indication of what the players want, but I would like to see a combination of things.
In order of priority this is what I would like to see;
1 - Re-Balance resources and Economy
2 - New Adventures
3 - Raise Lv50 cap
4 - Fix critical interface bugs
5 - PvP - Seperate Islands
6 - PvP - Direct attack other players (BTW, this is a horrible idea, one that would make me quit this game)
Raise the 50 cap :)
Great idea!! Thanks!!!!
I don't know what you mean by re-balancing resources and the economy so I wont comment on that, but we kinda need most everything on that list. No point of just raising the level cap and telling level 50s to go run nords a few hundred more times, give them new adventures, pvp, the science system and economic adventures to keep them busy.
Everyone needs new adventures, some new ones for higher level players who don't have a veteran general but have outgrown the 1st tier adventures would be good too.
Its a good thing they already announced that pvp wont be direct attacks on other peoples islands, otherwise people would abandon this game like a sinking ship. (you know that 150k gold you were saving for your "save 200k gold coins" quest? whoops its all gone because 30 people attacked you while you were sleeping and most of your resources are gone now.)
My other concern is that if pvp is going to be real time then the devs are also going to seriously need to reduce the number of crashes/lag that this game has, no one wants to get their forces wrecked while they are trying to relog after the game caused flash to crash.
I have not been able to run adventures since the roll back 2-3 MONTHS ago. Did not get to participate in ANY of the event adventures. I hope that is someone's priority.
The seperate island PvP bothers me a little. There's nothing to lose, and there's no way to cause harm to other players. I agree that most games have resource stealing and most games are unbalanced because of it (farming inactives and weaker players is lame). But what if you were able to cause minor havoc to other players? What if a successful PvP attack allowed you to drop a 24-hr barracks nerf that dropped output to 25%? What if a PvP attack demoralized the builders and it took the victim twice as long to build any buildings? -- rebuilding those fields, wells, and mines would seem even more painful and make those silos and watermills all that more appealing. What if every troop used in a PvP attack was consumed and repeat attacks were not possible? What if your victory could produce a 12-hr trade blockade? It's not resource stealing, but there are still ways that you could really punish other players for neglecting their defenses
That's why there are two PvP options -- one for top players to fight over king-of-the-hill rewards, and one option where you are able to cause harm to other players. They are significantly different motivations. There is no existing resource, other than gems, that is of enough interest to wage a seperate-island PvP battle over and I personally think that their current PvP direction is going to leave everybody feeling disappointed. I'm not interested in PvP designed to cater to the 1%.
As mentioned to me, another addition could be to rebalance the adventure search percentages so that we don't get the SE, SOV, VTV as much. I mean really, the majority of people just end up accumulating them bigtime and are not able to use them for a long time if ever (as reflected by their gc valuations).
Raise the cap. Allow us to input quantities into barracks and prov house (25 units at a time with 9-10k pop is just stupid). Prov house we build 100-200k meat and fish depo's at a time, 2500 max is a lot of clicks. Simple changes, come on BB. New adventures would be nice.
The biggest problem with "direct attack other players PVP" as you call it, is that no matter how it is set up there will always be players who grief other players for the simple reason they find it amusing to upset other people.
A 12-hr trade blockade? You keep losing to other players repeatedly (because those players who like to grief other players WILL keep attacking you, and will co-ordinate with other like-minded people) and suddenly that 12-hr trade blockade becomes permanent!
Every single other game out there that has PVP, has it set up so that you can cause harm to other players, and in every single case you have a LOT of players griefing the weak simply because they can and because they enjoy causing harm to others.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could help each other out instead of hurting each other? Why do you have to bring this "i'm the best and I will crush you into the dirt" mentality into every game?
war game does not = must kill other players at all costs
That's just your take on it, but there are many other possibilities. If you want PVP to crush other players so bad why not find one of the many other free games out there that allow it, there are a lot of them. Why must you invade this game as well?
The Dev's are introducing PVP on a separate island so that it doesn't interfere with players, this is fine, and this is the way it should be.
Zbest - I've played games with both limited and unlimited PvP - gladiatus and grepolis to name two. I can't tell you how exhilarating it is to have a year or two years worth of careful work, development, time and REAL dollars wiped out overnight by another player who thinks destroying someone else is a great way to have fun. If you and other like-minded players take pleasure in hurting other folks, I would gently suggest that you try one of the more aggressive games where you can meet and perhaps defeat other folks who enjoy destroying someone else, rather than try to push the PvP agenda in here. And yes, Zallera, if pvP is not limited as described, people - myself included - will leave, taking our time, energy and dollars elsewhere.
All i want is more levels.
about new adventures, go run your sov's and vtvs, they are nice aventures :)
(unless you meant more adventures like nords  )
to each their own, while your playing farmville, i'll be farming you.
as for you trying to tell me what to do or what to play, stick it in your vote.
you should feel lucky you cant be invaded.
not even sure why zbest put the option to vote on direct attack since meesher already informed us the dev's wouldnt allow that option.
care to argue about a non existant option some more? lol
Fix adventures such as SE to make them viable, reduce losses or increase loot.
Give us SOMETHING useful to do with *** ore and saltpeter.
Raise input qty of barracks & Prov house. (as Ornias stated) mass fish/meat depo's. Also lets train up to 1000 troops in a single click.
I think you need all of those items minus the re-balancing of the economy. There is really nothing wrong with our economy and you should let free market supply and demand happen on its own without interference. It will only make the problem worse with government interference.
I would love to see Separate island PvP, then raising lvl cap.. then maybe some new advens.
The only reason I dont like Direct attack is I have school 8 hours during weekdays.. I dont want my island gone when I get back lol :P
I believe the "rebalancing of the economy" option is referring to modifying how much it costs to build things...like cannons and stuff...I don't recall exactly where I read this but I read that a level 5 cannon forge (and all it's required sub-buildings) would require more iron that is possible with what we have available.
It's not the only building who's requirements seem a little out of whack. It's this "economy" that I believe is the intended "economy" in the OP's question.
The in-game economy which is based on what players buy and sell for should remain untouched by the Dev's...except to add to the TO those items for which it is not currently possible to put up a trade for if you are looking to buy, but can put a trade up if you are looking to sell.

:o Cut me loose on it BB !!!! 3.6 yrs of earned respect! This Wargirl is waiting...2b challenged :o
There are lots of resources that lack a proper balance of supply and demand. Fixing the double-buffing brought Tools, Marble and Hardwood back into a reasonable market with demand where it should be.
Items like iron swords, steel swords, horses, longbows, iron, steel, titanium ore, saltpetre, gunpowder, wheels, carriages, xbows, damascene swords, and cannons aren't in what I'd call a reasonable balance of supply and demand. With the new trade system, gold coins are now consumed by both explorers and market trades -- which brought demand up slightly. There aren't any items for purchase with gold coins in either the market or the provision house, so we have a currency that is not backed by something tangible.
So half of the resources are out of balance -- making the economy rather thin. If there were things like mercenaries, which consumed weapons and coins, then demand for these items would see an increase and the economy would fill out. There is also the option for using these resources to purchase items or buffs.
Adding a few new shop items that would add more reference values and stabalize the economy wouldn't be a bad thing, either.
We all know the reason those resources are out of whack, its because there is no reason to let Elites, Crossbowmen or Cannoners to die on adventures unless you made a mistake in a block, or were so out of it when you sent an attack that you couldn't tell the difference between a recruit and a crossbowmen, not to mention the weapons to build these units drop from the higher level adventures. That takes care of the big 3 but what about Militia, Soldiers and Cavalry?
The Dark Brotherhood adventure takes over 1000 cavalry to finish, but the massive cavalry death involved makes sure its not going to run every day, as unless my math is off training 1000 Calvary takes 60 hours with a level 5 Barracks. The GENS guides are at the top of the forum so I'll use them as an example, the only adventures you see 100+ cavalry deaths in are: Bandits Nest (Shop Bought Only),Motherly Love, Victor the Vicious and the aforementioned Dark Brother Hood. The shop bought nature of bandits nest eliminates it from general use, so unless you run the other 3 quite often you probably have a decent stockpile of horses and really only have people who run those 3 adventures on a regular basis as your customer for excess horses.
Now for Soldiers and Militia, the only time you need to kill them off is when recruits don't soak up enough damage to let your Crossbowmen or Cannoneers do their job, with a Veteran General there are few bosses like Wild Mary that fall into this category.
Ignoring transport time for the buildings, I can build 2 bronze swords in the time it takes to build a single iron sword and 4 in the time it takes to make a steelsword.(going by the 6 minutes base time on a Bronze weaponsmith, 12 on iron and 24 on steel.) This isn't even factoring in the increased coal cost of Iron/Steel weapons or the greater brew cost on militia and soldiers.
So Militia and Soldiers become the odd sacrifice, and Soldiers become somewhat obsolete as attackers once you get elites.
We all know the real solutions for fixing the market on these resources: PVP and alternate (and attractive) uses for these resources.
The pvp solution is simple, If a particular PVP adventure/match/whatever is only going to let the players bring X number of units total to an adventure and both players want to win, they will bring out the Elites/Cannons/Xbows and risk losing them, which means they will need to be replaced. This is doubly true if one of the pvp options is some kind of ladder competition with players in various level ranges battling it out for bragging rights or some manner of tangible reward (special buildings or whatever)
Seeing as how not everyone is going to be interested in PvP, the 2nd option (alternative uses) for using up these resources comes into play. The suggestion thread has ideas for various building specific buffs along the lines of what the scarecrow does for farms. Or perhaps give us an island wide buff that is far to expensive to use at lower levels when your don't even have half of your building licenses, but is a good investment of resources for people who have full or near full islands and would rather have one island wide buff as opposed to singly buffing buildings with baskets.
or, just like the EOTW PvP contest, PvP will be poorly thought out, and nobody will risk premium troops for the measly rewards offered. Players will see the futility of spending their troops for rewards that they have no chance of aquiring --- and the economy remains in need of balancing.
Well, my interpretation of the poll results is that the game is starting to feel a little tired. People are split almost equally as being happy with the current adventure set and just wanting XP to become meaningful again, people wanting new adventures for new experiences, and people wanting PvP.
Hopefully this next update solves the critical issues for enough people that the devs can move on to new content.
For goodness sakes, fix the provisioning house to adjust the order of the que!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They could make Castle Empire the best game in the world and do all 6 things at once mentioned in this poll.
players having the ability to directly attack my island while im not logged in would make this game exactly like evony, and would lead to my quitting the game. it would not make this the best game in the world, it would make it just like all the other PvP games out there. the direction BB is going w PvP, making it on other islands and the players choice if they want to participate in it, is what is going to make it the best game out there
Evony etc. has 3 flaws with direct attacking islands:
1) Attacker suffers no/negligable troop losses
2) Defender isn't offered protection from repeated attacks
3) Attacker can steal resources
I agree with you that these issues cause the game to become unplayable. But there are also other options where these issues can be resolved. If troop losses are significant, attacks result in protection for some time, and the attack results in a nerf of some sort (a trade blockade, builder nerf, or a barracks nerf, as previously mentioned) instead of a resource stealing.
umm, no, there is no way my island tht i have put countless hours into building up should be attacked while i am at work or partying w friends, etc etc. if you spend all day on the game thts ur choice, others shouldnt be forced into tht cuz other players want to attack them
New Adventures would be cool and fixing the ones that arnt worth running.
I am sorry I didn't run nords a few hundred times to get to level 50. However your point is valid, new concepts and adventures would be a great idea :). The boredom of repetition does become an issue, which is why I didn't run a few hundred nords. It is to boring. Variety is the spice of life and games. :) It is bad enough the guild quests are making people run the same adventures over and over and over again.
1) Raise Lvl 50 cap
2) PVP
3) Science system
1) PVP - Other islands
This would make the game a bit more interesting.
2) Fix Critical Interface bugs
This would make the game more welcoming instead of frustrating at times when a person has a hard time logging in, etc.
3) New Adventures
Stops the repeated adventures.
4) Raise level cap
Let's level 50s get higher in level. This isn't high on my list since I'm not lvl 50 yet.
5) Rebalance economy & Resources (WTF is this about)
Really, what are we talking here about? When I think this... I like the economy & resources. Maybe how much what those elite buildings require need to be rebalanced for what they require to produce their items. But eh, it's a game. Those are the elite troops, they should be costly first of all.
Not votable: Direct attacks on others (this company has made it's decision, why is this an option in this poll? Seriously?)
Query: How do I return my Mayor's House (MH) to the first level?
Ability: "remove building" on the M H, only if another storehouse is in sector 1.
Then be able to rebuild, maybe in a different spot, maybe more than one (probably for gems :) .
Legacy: As in earlier iterations of "Serf City"
Technically: Leveling up in reverse is easy for programmers.
(They''ll probably need a few gems).
Justification:
Generally: this would add interest to the game.
Specifically: retro leveling is for artistic reasons, and to foster the abiding theme of all the Serf Cities
flexible - realism.
BTW: That level 1 MH is my favorite building of the series and I want it for my Island.
Finally: Reverse leveling of buildings may be used in ways we have yet to imagine.
While I've not been playing all that long, I have seen enough here to have a couple of opinions.
1. I've not really seen any critical interface bugs. I've seen one or two 'annoying' ones. Nothing critical.
2. As far as PvP goes; when I'm on a contract, I'll be lucky to log in 3 times a day, and then only for limited periods of time. So I might as well trash my own island, if I'm going to have to leave it for extended periods. Perhaps a system whereby your home island is inviolate, but you can annex another island or islands and continue building there, which would be vulnerable to attack, with nerfs or even outright resource stealing. If so, I'd prefer that it be set up so attacks can be made ONLY when the defending player is on-line, and would really like to see the defense with an advantage. (In real life, during the middle ages, attackers required about a 4-1 advantage over equally advanced opponents.) Personally, I like the game as it is. And I'd hate to see it changed such that those who appear to delight in making their island beautiful would have to suffer having it trashed over and over again. Think it wouldn't happen? There are too many 8 year olds with attitude issues in ANY online gaming venue. Another point would be that if there were PvP, then it might be advisable to limit it to players of the same, or nearly the same, level. Otherwise, every new player, who doesn't even have a barracks yet, will be getting jumped by players using cannon, crossbow, and cavalry, with veteran generals and experienced soldiers.
3. While I"m nowhere near having to worry about levels higher than 50, I can see where it might be advisable to have them. (Given how assiduously some folks here seem to play the game:D, it may be difficult for devs to keep ahead of them, but perhaps the additional levels can be made VERY difficult and time-consuming and lengthy, to give devs the chance.)
I have been playing for a year now & at Level 42 I am seriously bored & no incentive to level up so I am taking a break to work out if I want to continue playing a game that has nothing more to offer than already available. I voted for new adventures & would love to see new islands available to raid or conquer but I can't see that happening too soon if ever since they have not even fixed all the problems that came up last year before & after the rollback.
There are so many things that need to be improved to take away the repetitive "same old" rebuild heat fields, make deposits in the PH in SMALL quantities. I would like to see them fix all the problems that players are having before moving onto new features that will probably have bugs as well.
