blocking with the speed bug

ok so we have our thread where people whine about it
lets have a thread for what we are going to do while they fix the bug

the bug
when a camp is being attacked any general entering the zone of that camp speeds up
when they leave the zone or enter the zone of the camp they are to attack they go back to regular speed

the effect
blocks where the blocking general spends less time in the zone then the attacking general will fail because the attacker is early
blocks where the blocking general spends more time in the zone then the attacking general may fail because the attacker is late
blocks where both generals spend the same time in the zone should still work properly but look funny on screen

with this in mind we need a list of what is and isn't safe

adventures

bandit nest
- all blocks can fail
- had to delay all the attacking generals 5+ seconds to make the blocks work
black knights
- works with cannons
dark brotherhood
dark priests
gunpowder
horseback
Island of the pirates
- both doubles work
- triple doesn't work (works with cannons?)
mother love
old friends
outlaws
- long starting block and central block don't work
roaring bull
secluded experiments
- some don't work
sons of the veld
stealing from the rich
- double block in northeast doesn't work
surprise attack
the Nords
- no doubles
traitors
- central double works
- castle double doesn't
Victor the vicious
- some ? don't work ( first 3 at least)

will update as people add to the list - would like to add which blocks didn't work as well

also if you come up with any new blocks as a result of the bug feel free to post them

Yes, and next they will change it so the "lag" only occurs every other time, or is random...That said I am working on some adventures with blocks that utilize the new timing, will post my results

Swann - good to know about it happening on the test server, means is in-game code not server issues imo.

Black Knights blocks all work

doing around 1 horseback per day and no problems with the blocks

:cavalry: Ran an Outlaws yesterday using the guide by Lesson. Even tho my generals skipped around, all blocks worked flawlessly.

I have a feeling that blocks such as Lesson and Genesis set up, using distance from camps and a sequential launch of attacks will work fine,
while blocks using timing (1st gen at this line, launch 2 & 3) are gonna be a problem till this is fixed.

doing an SE.. so far.. only 1 block was affected by this speed bug. of course that 1 mess up cost me over 220 elites. but looks correctable by delaying first wave of the leader camp by a couple seconds.. hope this gets fixed soon.. got a lot of my guild up in arms about it.

IOTP triple doesn't work --- single in first sector and double in 2nd sector work.

Traitors double in 2nd sector works --- double on the castle is epic fail.

During the simple first block on the Black Knights adventure, my vet jumped like a frog 5 times almost jumping ahead of the BHG. The block worked in the end but it could have been disastrous if it had not. Now, using a vet with cannooneers in a 1-wave attack on the leader can definitely improve the odds that the jumping frog effect won't be a problem, but not everyone has cannooners and those are rather expensive to gamble. Please fix this problem. Thanks in advance, BB.

doing outlaws

the central block I delayed my main general by 5 seconds - that was barely enough 7-8 would be better

on the 1r block my main general went 3 full flags past the point where the block usually ends
so thats 8 steps instead of 5

if as someone else noted he takes the first 2 steps at regular speed then he is moving double speed the rest of the time

Bit erratic on Traitors but blocks worked....thankfully.

I have a story that must be told, about some Settlers brave and bold
Lived on an Island to base their realm, sending troops to overwhelm
Various foe were beaten back and loot was gathered by the sack
But then a bug was created, leaving Settlers a tad frustrated.
The bug had an evil deed, to make the horses rear and speed
This in turn caused so much pain, as many a Settler then was slain.

For cannon run (see Evil_J's guide here), IOTP works fine. I've run it 4 or 5 times a day since the patch with no issues.

the same experience with black knight first block and Victor the vicious first 3 blocks fail, So I didn't risked more than that and continue with no blocks until finish it.

black knights using cannons worked.

Only block that did not work was
C7 C8 L5 double block and attack (I use the Genesis Vet guide).
It was really ugly.

I had no problems with the others. You just have to be careful with your timing. I usually wait until the music is over before sending the next general. Seems like the extra 2 seconds helps.

On another note, BK worked fine for me also- anniewhan's guide v2.

Just started bandit nest. I knew the first double block would not work because the second blocking general would travel fast over the first zone and engage the second before he is supposed to. So I took the fist camp out individually and did a single block that worked great. blocking general attacked, first wave scooted right through did its thing fast followed by my skipping vet. just made a faster attack so your block has less chance of running out.

I just ran Outlaws. All the blocks that had 2 or more regular generals worked perfect if I delayed 8 seconds on each. By the time the Vet hits the zone of the 1st block and starts skipping, all the other reg generals have engaged.

finished bandit nest I took out camp 3 and 6 individually (Genesis guide) as the second blocking general travels through the zone of the first block messing up the timing. single blocks after that work fine. Just use the listed block and position for the remaining camp. I am sure with some timing change new double blocks could be made. Also didn't get granite so I'm done with the four winds quest (only 33% chance of reward for two adventures that 1:9 that they both work. Be prepared to do 5 adventures just to get over 50% chance of completing them.)

Have no problem with Outlaws (using Mifa which is the guide that I have been using long ago since the first time), all blocks work perfectly like before this issue occured though my Vet gen does jump after the blocking generals go into the camp. Same for BK - Vet gen with ES and Xbow.

just did dark brotherhood did the triple block in the center
delayed the attack generals about 7-8 seconds and the block almost finished before the attack
probably didn't need to delay the generals at all after seeing the block run
if you do have to this block just became a lot tighter

just did traitors the 1 r blocks at the end are much safer now

I've done many adventures since this bug and so far I have yet to lose one single troop to it.

If you follow a good guide as it should be done without deviating from it you should not fail.

Once the first general starts fighting the next general will get to the red zone as usual then will start to skip faster to it's target, but this will also happen to the next general who will be skipping around at the same speed and get to the border of the second red zone just at the right time since he too skipped the same way the previous general did and so on and so forth. They're all skipping across at the same rate so they'll all get there faster.

If you deviate from a good guide, that's when you start getting into issues and most likely these will be the timing on rounds. Wait too long to send the next general and that block will be finished before you get there. Have faith in the guides you've followed all this time and you'll see no fails.

I've done Bandit Nest x2, Dark Brotherhood x 1
Sons of the Veld 3 times now without fail, which has a huge amount of blocks including that last one needing 6 generals.

Even the multiple Witch of the Swamp adventures I've done so far have not failed, with the 1 recruit block that ends so quick it makes me edgy every time I do it, doubly with the jumps.

To be honest this little jumping thing's made the adventures a lot more exciting lol.

Whats a "good" guide to use - especially for the SOTV adventure?

I did a Pirates yesterday and didn't notice a single hop. The final block went swimmingly. Here's hoping!

I guess I'll try doing adventures again and see if what frood found is correct. I really hope it is.
