Some of us ain't buying this new stuff.
I vote for this - should be 100 at a time
bump
Hi guys,
I know this thread has been around for a long time and many of you feel strongly that this should be added to the game. Rest assured that this feedback has been sent to the developers for consideration. When I have more information, I'll let you guys know.
I like how the collectibles have not even been out as long as this post has been. Yet you quote that you are personally excited about these changes and "...players have been suggesting for quite awhile now."
CLEARLY, there is a disconnect here between the devs and the player base. But I guess since the BB's like the collectibles they get worked on, but training more troops does not bother you to click a billion times over and over. Way to show priorities.
Come one come all to Settlers Online, where you too can play another hidden object game! (like there are not a billion of these already out there)
This had to be one of the most asked for improvement in the game and everyone who starts to roll epic adventures knows how fun it is to retrain 2-4k troops by batches of 25. Is it really that hard to put another slider in there with 100's? up to 500 or 600 perhaps? Let the devs play couple of epic advies and than retrain troops for them... Clearly none of them ever did, because it would take ONE of them to do it ONCE and they would get it.
+365 millioin
i heard if you keep beating that dead horse it does come back to life
yes, my mouse is overworked and demands larger troop stacks or a health care pckg
Lol, I'm kinda expecting a Rarity Barracks to happen sometime for use to make large stacks of troops.
they wont raise the 25 limit cause of coding as bb said a while back. it also uses to much server space to as bb said before
+1

PS: I believe this is a hardware limit. Computers can't count above 25.
With all the players locked out there should be room on the servers. :)
I have yet to see a BB response to this, got a link?
Also, defaulting all sliders to max rather than 1 is an acceptable half measure that can't possibly stress servers.
How would it stress servers to add a zero to something, wouldn't fewer clicks make less stress?
sign me up
just wait the new "rarity improved citadel barracks" will crank out 100 troops and we will get musketteers
+1 from me :)
I just don't see how this is possible. I can post 4 lots of 250,000 coal, how is that different? Wouldn't adding a zero to the slider just be different shaped pixels?
As for server load, like I said: currently people are loading up 25 troops 200 times all in a row that must be more stress than a single slide from 0-5,000.
Does anyone know flash player well enough to at least confirm that?
Come on people, give up. You ain't gona get it.
There are a few programs that allow you to record and replay mouse actions. Adding 10k troops isn't a big chalenge with them.
Maybe that's why this problem is not on the devs' priority list.
RGC Boy you got that right.
ppl been asking for this for a long time and still no word on it. that's the dev way of saying no troop slider for u. rgc is right. lets look at the 3x buff ppl wanted to be able to make them so they did that and then ppl complained about it. if ppl would stop complaining about stuff maybe the dev would listen. bugs r different.
now let the bashing begin
No. It's the fact that when a BB says that they won't be able to increase the Troop size limit for making them because of a certain program won't be able to handle it then it should be left at that. Instead they go on ranting because of it and thy say that they should improve there system and everything else like that. But if the Adobe flash player can not hold that type of requirement then what can they do? There is nothing that they can do for it and should be left at that.
We gotten 3x Buffs in the Mayors house and Rarity Provision house which is the best thing they did and the BB's put in our recommendation to the Devs that live in Germany. However, some people complained about it because they aren't getting enough Food Carts/Banners on there island. Which is reasonable because they are Rare and it is a low percentage of them spawning on you're island. You complain. BB's put word into the Devs. They tweak the Percentages so that way you can get more on your island... but then people go back to complaining again.
Can't have it both ways on this game unfortunately. If you absolutely have to use a Macro to train troops. Sure go for it. But I doubt BB's will support the use of Macros and other things for the game so your on your own for that.
im happy with there improvements. my prob is the lack of communication and the bugs.
Terminex has a guarantee
could they at least double it to 50?
1. I've been trying to find where a BB has said this, can you link it for me please?
2. It just doesn't make sense. How is a 25 slider any different than a 250 or even 2500 slider? Really, adding a digit shouldn't matter, as evidenced by the fact that we can now trade 250,000 increased from the original 400.
3. If someone can explain to us how sliding over from 1-25 200 times in a row is somehow easier on the server than a single slide to 5,000, then I'll move on. How can fewer transactions cause more stress load?
4. Like someone said earlier, if it is in fact somehow not doable, BB can simply post that (preferably in this thread) lock it and done.
5. Suggesting alternatives like defaulting sliders to max is imho not a waste of time.
No, it shouldn't. Couple decades developing code tells me that's true. There are times when there are technical limitations (such as dependency on 3rd party code, hardware messaging, upstream/downstream complications, etc) but within a particular bit of software...it's hard to accept, and doubly so when said software proves it's not true all across the board. It IS technically possible that the slider-control in question does have a 25 position limit; however, not all do so one has to ask: why did they use that control? Good idea at the time, maybe, but not so much now. We have a word for the process of dealing with it: refactoring.
When excuses seem foundationless they almost always are, and most online game communities are savvy enough to know when they're given a nonsense answer. If you want to make a claim that sounds ridiculous, you have to explain it. The community deserves that much. However, 99 times out of 100, the answer is: refactoring would just plain cost too much.
Enter the work-around, which we all know is possible if you've spent any time doing the low-level quests: do in the Barracks what was done in the Provision House: Same silly 25-position control, different increments. Don't believe me? Go build some settlers in increments of 1, 5, or 25.
Why do we keep complaining? Because BB's proven they can work around the limitations in two different ways, so their protests are...well, there's a word we use in the US but it's probably not appreciated here so I'll use a euphemism: Bovine Produced Lawn Fertilizer.
The point is: if management doesn't want to throw the refactoring money at it, just come out and say that. I know it's rare but having some respect for the playerbase is nice, and it breeds respect for the game producer.
and boom goes the dynamite
I actually have to agree with this.
If thousands of players have over hundreds of slots equaling up to thousands of units.
What difference does it make if those same thousands of players have few slots equaling the same amount of units.
At the very least couldn't they check this on the Test Server, to see if it is possible.

Although I probably won't be able to get it unless its an event, a New Barracks in general would come in handy.
Dear God, this request chain was started nearly a year ago. It's 20 pages long. Maybe time to listen...
