Rebuild resources by replacing wheat fields and wells first, then copper mines, then others
get into the habit of producing deposits regularly
It helps to have these deposits waiting for use, rather than the other way around
Follow the tutorial's build guide closely and you'll not run shy of building permits, which does happen.
Rather than building extra mines, upgrade them to level 3. It saves on building licenses.
I disagree that one should wait to have all one's resources in place before starting a quest. The resources one needs depends on how one's battles go--which troops do you lose the most--because each battle has a range of possible outcomes, that is, troop losses on both sides. One should start a quest as soon as one can produce enough resources to finish it before the quest time limit is over. One can get a general idea of the time needed by looking through forums, etc., to find out what battles one will face, and then look at one's own supply chains and resources in stock. Also, it's much more fun to get into a quest before one is fully ready as that makes the outcome a little less certain and is far less boring than running resource chains until one has enough supplies.
I disagree that using tools to upgrade mines is a waste of tools. Whether it is a waste depends on one's supply of licences and the other buildings one needs to have and also on how quickly one needs the supplies from the mine to build troops to accomplish quests. I generally find that I have an oversupply of tools (either from my supply chains or from trading or from conversion in the provision house), and so it is rarely a waste to upgrade coal, iron, and gold mines at least one level.
Another useful point about using tools to upgrade mines is that it is often quicker and cheaper in the long run to accomplish resource acquisition quests by modifying supply chains through upgrades to various kinds of mines than it is to be constantly shuffling one's use of building licences. Sometimes it is necessary to upgrade a mine to achieve a resource quest more quickly than it is to wait for a building licence to become available when another mine depletes, or by destroying a pine forester, etc., to get a building licence for a mine.
Remember, one must take into account time as well as quantity or expenditure of resources when planning achievement of quests or other goals.
ATM, when i'm doing the crisis quest, i see how important a guild is, especially in a 15-20 members guild. We help each others at each quest, run SE, SOTV adv together, sharing what we have. Keep in your mind this thing when you are planing to join a guild. Let's join a guild which doesn't have a real leader, everyone is equal and can be called group of ppl or a family.
