Once you are done with your tavern tear it down for an extra building license and so that no one can use a 1,000 snowflake buff on you as a joke.
If you think a mine may deplete itself while you're away/sleeping, tear it down and rebuild it before leaving. Not to mention, the game gives back a small percentage of resources after you destroy the mine(s). Also, if going to be away from the game for several days, sleep the buildings in order to keep things from running out while not attended.
Recruits are the most used military units. So ensure your bronze sword and brew production atleast matches the population growth. That is, your population grows at the rate of 48 per 12 hours. So ensure you have a minimum production of 240 brew and 480 bronze swords so that you never run out of recruits.
2 buildings make 2 times more resources then one.. given they are the same type, have the same travel time, same level, and neither is buffed
It is always better to build Level 1 wheat fields. They give you 200 wheat for 20 pinewood planks and 5 stones as against a level 2 wheat field which gives 400 wheat for 20 hardwood planks and 5 marble. In the provision store, 5 pinewood planks = 1 hardwood plank and 5 stones = 1 marble. Do the math!
Similarly with wells... Level 1 wells give 1000 water for 10 pinewood planks and 15 stones against Level 2 wells which give 1500 water for 10 hardwood planks and 15 marbles. In the provision house, 5 pinewood planks = 1 hardwood plank and 5 stones = 1 marble. So Level 1 wells are better value for resource.
Take notes on your own adventures. Guides are useful, but usually not optimized - you can take notes about what worked and what didn't and do better on the same adventure next time!
Circle your buildings around storage buildings. The further they are from a storage building, the longer the production time ultimately - even with planters. They go to the storage building for seed and then go out to a site to plant it.
While level 1 wells are better value for resource, they also need rebuilt more often. Save time instead of resource - buy upgraded wells and wheat fields even if they cost a little more resource. We all have lives outside of Settlers, after all!
Clump similar building types together - you gain nothing by spreading pinewood planters/cutters and hardwood planters/cutters across your island. In fact, you guarantee a longer commute and lower production rate. If you have five on one side and five on the other side, sometimes they'll hike the whole ways across your island to plant/cut instead of planting/cutting closer to home. Put all 10 in one area and they'll have much shorter commutes.
There are a ton of ways to get something quick, it always comes with a price. Take your time.
When you claim a new sector, before you place a storehouse try referring to a map placement guide first. You can't move storehouses, you have to destroy them if you don't like where they were placed. If you've already placed storehouses, don't level them up until you're for certain that's the spot they are going to stay.
Roads are a good tool to use when planning out where to place buildings around a storehouse. This helps maximize productivity.
If you're just starting out don't get ahead of your quests, you'll end up running out of resources and essentially make things much harder for yourself.
You can place your foresters anywhere near the resource site, they don't need to be near a storehouse or your mayors house.
Building production is a good thing to look into. You want to maximize your production rates to increase your resource output.
You can buy more than your Storage will hold. The surplus will go into your Star menu. Buy in bulk, to save on Resources.
You don't have to make every Resource, you can trade the Goods your Settlers make, for resources in the Trade Office.
save your building licences by upgrading your resource building instead of building another one.
The closer the storehouse, the faster the overall production time is. It is a good idea to build a storehouse right between those 3 copper mines to the east of youe Mayors house... Greatly reduces the walk times!
You should always have an Offer in the Trade Office. Use the free slot.
In a Trade "slot", you can Offer up to 4 "lots".
A Workhouse will not produce while it is being upgraded. Have some reserves for that resource during the downtime.
To find a specific Sector on an Island, mouse click on the screen, and use the number keys 1-9, to move to the corresponding Sector.
Do not cancel optional quests, even when they seem insane - you can have almost unlimited amount of them, and you might wanna do them when you reach lvl50 and get bored.
Don't snow me Bro' Removing the Tavern Building from your Island, will prevent other Settlers from adding temporary snow on your Island. The building requires minimal resources to replace, should you need to make a purchase from it. The Building License could be used for a Workhouse.
Quick coin Gold Mining: build it, buff it, collect the ore, sell the ore.
Then, share the wealth, place 1 offer using the free Trade slot, and acquire the (3) Resources you need to rebuild the mine, in exchange for gold coin. You can earn a lot of gold coin, without taking resources away from other Island needs.
Enter contest like this, to win Gems. Use the Gems to buy additional Building Licenses, Noble deeds, or, surprise a friend with a gift from the Merchant Store.
Destroy mines right before they run empty. This gives you a minimum of 25% of the building materials back. it is especially important with iron, coal and gold mines.
*Trading goods for goods will drive profit for you - you will always do better then selling your goods for coins
*never be in a hurry - there will always be another deal to make
*in most cases it is better to upgrade a building rather then building another of the same
Eveything will be okey when u visit your island everyday.
I found this out by accident. If you're like me and are all about getting as many resources out of something as possible with minimal costs, it's a good idea to watch your mines and wells remaining deposit count. Just when they're about to run out, for example: 11 coal remaining, or closer if you're patient enough - if you destroy it before it depletes you'll receive a little less than half the resources back that it took to originally build. Neat! I
