--Always run your gold chain buffed. If it isnt buffed then put it to sleep. This will save on resources.
--Build as close as you can to your storehouses. If the total walk time (Storehouse to building, building to Storehouse) is greater than 1 min, then its time to build another storehouse.

A fisherman's production time plus travel is about 3 minutes and 30 seconds. That means if you have a level 2 fisherman or higher you can put as many fish platters on it as you can and get a ton of extra fish
Using buffs.......Timing for using buffs and staying buffed is obvious here is an example. use exotic basket buffs from a friend for the 18 hour duration later in the day vs early, this prevents the building to run unbuffed while you are logged off asleep at night.

Use wisely by buffing again late into your game play vs early.....that way while you are asleep or logged off it will be running when you relog. This will allow you to stop production or rebuff a short time after logging on vs. production running unbuffed...which by now we have seen is a no no. :)
Usiing buffs......Timing for using buffs again with the bigger more expensive and hard to come by buffs we all wish to avoid mistakes! The Lucky Rabbit foot when used by a friend (you will usualy have to supply it to them) will give 3 days of 3x production! Use this buff early in your daily game play, making sure you have no real life plans so you can be on when the buff runs out. Once again being on when the buff runs out helps you either rebuff or turn off production, making resources stretch and helping you get ahead much faster. I hope you have enjoyed my Pro tips...I am not a pro, most of these tips are passed on to me. I give credit to the many players who have helped me learn this game :)

Protip - You will likely get jacked by event and new update prices as a handful of 50s (and a few who have been near 50 for a year) plan out prices will unfold in new updates and have a multi-month outlook on their planning and stockpiling.
Silos will refill wheat fields that are closest to themselves, unless that wheat field has gone over it's original starting amount. Then the silo will head to a field located further away. Sometimes fields will refill slightly more than their original starting amount, because a silo had already targeted that field before it had reached it's original starting amount. The silos will even stop if they have no fields to harvest. So while it might be cool to setup a single field for wheat harvesting with a bunch of farms and silos, it's actually more effective to provide several different fields for your silos to focus on at different times.
If you are short on building licenses consider specializing in the production of something that sells well in the trade office and trade the surplus either directly or indirectly for the resource you choose to neglect. Coal and flour can often be requested for very low prices in bulk while bread and copper ore is always in high demand. Also, spend time reading the thread about building placement and efficiency, it can help you understand the optimal places on the map to build as well as the right number of buildings to compliment each other or produce surpluses in goods you'd like to sell.
Red Settlers, Exotic Baskets, and Improved Drill Plans are very valuable. High level players will often offer less than what they're worth to low level players because they understand their true value. Be sure to get good value for any 3x buff, barrack buff, or provision buff.
Low level and mid level players often have inflated ideas of what red settlers, exotic baskets, and improved drill plans are worth. We have no use in using them if we cant make a bit of profit. Sorry, red flying settler is NOT worth 500 coins.
PROTIP: A bandit camp's area of effect (red zone) does not intercept a general if the camp is trying to defend from attack. This enables a technique called blocking, in which you "block" a camp's area of effect to get straight to the leader.
PROTIP: Watchtowers and Stone Towers make ranged units take less damage.
PROTIP: Finished goods are often more valuable than raw resources. For example, Pinewood is worth less than Pinewood Planks. This applies for Provision House items as well.
PROTIP: The Battle Hardened General and Veteran General fight twice as fast, in addition to the other effects listed in their descriptions.
PROTIP: All of the expert production chains, as well as Gold and possibly Steel, should be constantly buffed. If you can't give a buff, turn the building off.
PROTIP: Collaborating on adventures can reduce losses, but if you do it alone you can give the lootspot(s) to your guild or sell them.
PROTIP: Don't bother producing a lot of the resources. Adventures give you enough Steel Swords, Crossbows, Damascene Swords, and Cannons to last you for the rest of the game. You don't be losing any of those units anyways.
Here is a pro-tip.
When you maximize your web browser full screen. You get a bigger view of your island reducing the need to use the window scroll bars too much.
If you have a big monitor and using a high resolution, like a 30" apple cinema display, and using 2560 x1600, you get more view space of your island.
Playing on a big monitor is pro! Playing on a tiny phone browser is not. :-)

When your lvl 50 and bored, you can spend extra time doing events like this... or start playing other games, waiting ever so patiently (NOT) for 50+ content...
Participate in forum events, because this gives you a chance to win gems. These can be spent in the store for many useful things.
Watch for special events which are announced on the game's home page. Winners of these events run on Global-1 are awarded gems!

Overstock your fish and meat deposits, especially if you anticipate being offline for more than a day. Make sure your Hunters and Fishermen keep busy!

When using buffs make sure it acutally gives profit. Take an X ammount of goldcoins for a aunt irma basket. calculate the amount of production cycles and multiple that by the production to find out how much extra resources you gain. Calculate the value and see if thats bigger or smaller than X to find out if it worth it.

for resources i always use the per 400 price except for the single basket....
Aunt irma basket placed by friend: 9 hours = 9x 60 = 540 min
Example: level 5 stables
Production cycle in minutes approx 6.5 minutes
Baskets price 4.2 goldcoins
Horses per 400: 13.2 goldcoins
(540/6.5)*5= approx 415 horses extra
so the ammount of horses gained in goldcoins is more than 4.2 coins the baskets cost

What we want to know is the total production cost so we need to know how many resources we have used and how much they cost
wheat: 7.6 per 400
Water:1.52 per 400
total production = 830 horses in 9 hours lvl 5 stables with aunt irma
wheat used =(830/400)*7.6= 15.7
water used= (1660)*1.52= 6.3
price basket= 4.2
total cost = 26.2
Value of 830 horses = (830/400)*13.2=27.4
total profit = 1.19 goldcoins!!

This is just an example you maybe buy resources cheaper and sell horses for more but remember this calc is with 100% buffed. A little downtime will make your profit turn into a loss very fast.
Manage your resources properly. Space and natural resources. Don't randomly place buildings plan and think about where they should go.
Don't be tricked into buying gold ore and gold bars for coins. Price may look like you're getting a deal but really are getting ripped-off. it takes 2 gold ores to produce 1 gold bar and 4 gold bars to produce 1 gold coin. Ex: 100 Gold Ores bought for 50gc: 100 gold ore => 50 gold bars => 12 gold coins with 2 left over bars.
Even with buffs you don't gain anything from it. Ex: 100 gold ore => 100 gold bars=> 50 gold coins
You're much better of finding your own deposits and rewards from adventures.
Joining a guild is a good idea to help you through those bumps that sometimes make you want to quit playing...but don't take advantage of a nice guild (Don't turn around and sell their goods in the TO, only take what you need, say thank you etc. etc.) work hard to one day become a contributing member.
always surround your pinewood cutters with your pinewood foresters & hardwood cutters with your hardwood foresters close to a storage building make sure to surround them and you'll not have to worry abotu tree less islands:)

When you see a 'waiting quest' shrink it so you don't keep thinking it's a quest you're working on/should be working on.
Not sure if it has been mentioned or not (probably has) but starting out you should only build the houses that it requires you to build.... anything more is just a waste because you will tear them all down and build noble's as you grow.
when you start selling resources, try to put small stack ( 2k, 3k) rather than big stack ( 10k, 20k) at the time. Don't only focus on getting coin, get others resources, too.
If you are buying gold ore for 200 gc per 400 ore (or 50 gc for 100 ore as you said), you are not getting any profit because that is the breakeven point. Producing gold coin from buying ores and bars are only profitable,(after accounting for coal and buff cost), you must buy gold ore at lower price, i.e. 130 gc/400 ore.Quote:

PRO TIP: If you use the free slot in the Trade Office for trading a stack of baskets (25) for gold coins (going rate is usually 120-125), it pays for the rest of your trade slots. ;)
Keep your provision house busy with buffs, deposits and additional settlers.
You can travel straight from one adventure to another without returning to your home island. While at the adventure you are transporting troops from, select "send army" on the adventure you'd like to send troops to. This saves time traveling home if you have enough troops on adventure and is really nice for that spur-of-the-moment lootspot.
Don't put non productive buildings like the barracks near the mayors house.
replace residences with noble houses to gain a building licence
Don't buff buildings that are being upgraded
Place your fields to the south east of your farms, and place most of your buildings south east of a storehouse, as your workers enter and exit all fields, buildings and mines from the south east side.
Don't buff buildings that have a "!" sign they are not producing as much as other buildings
