Name Your Geologist

Once upon a time (because all great story’s start this way), there were three Geologists - Karst, Laurasia and Ablation.

Karst, a thin man with a weathered face and irregularly shaped muscles, was the son of a butcher in the Dinaric Alps of Croatia. As a young man, Karst worked in his father’s Deerstalker Hut – a lonely job with hours of boredom interrupted by moments of excitement when game was caught in a trap or snare. It was during his time at the Deerstalker Hut that Karst discovered a love for geology (thanks to a Love Potion laced Chocolate rabbit). Instead of looking at the ground for signs of animal activity – you know footprints and scat, Karst was looking for rocks. Karst’s constant rock hunting eventually became such a distraction that his father fired him – you know, the old pink slip.

There is Laurasia, a mysterious woman from the North Country. Little is known about her past and those crazy enough to ask her have inexplicably disappeared to a fabled Arctic Iron Mine – a structure that has never been beheld by anyone in the realm of Zeus. Nevertheless, rumors are many and to this day countless Experienced Explorers and Savage Scouts hunt the world over to fine what some have called The Invasion of the Nords adventure - an adventure which is sure to lead to the discovery of an incredible frozen building.

Finally, there is Ablation, a short and stalky man with round spectacles, a gem earing, and a gunslinger’s belt - loaded not with bullets, but Rabbit Lucky Charms. Perhaps these Rabbit Lucky Charms (and excellent directions from a Helpful Scarecrow) can explain how Ablation escaped from the Dark Castle and snuck by the Witch Tower on his way to adventure and freedom. Ablation, known the world around for his discovery of the Endless Copper Mine, a rare and enchanted mine whose owners are the envy of those without, escaped from the Dark Castle to seek freedom and the ability to improve his skills through a newly discovered Science System, and to find a land where Solid Sandwiches are always served with Brew.

These three extraordinary geologists have gathered for their greatest adventure in a lonely Tavern on a remote, yet highly replicated island found in the archipelago of Zeus. It is on this island where each of the geologists spends their time refining their geological expertise - finding stone and marble, copper and coal, and iron and gold. It is also on this island where each of these geologists will spend the next year reading Manuscripts, Tomes, and Books studying the Science of Geology until they are ready to prove themselves on the greatest adventure of all – the search for the legendary Gem Pit.

Alas, the end to our story is predetermined, and already known by the Mayor NonEssentialHero. It goes like this; our geologists will hunt high and low, near and far but never find the legendary Gem Pit because it is a non-discoverable geologic feature that can only be purchased with gems. Some gems magically arrive in the Mayor’s mailbox every seven days, others appear when the Mayor has gained hundreds of thousands of XP by winning many adventurous conquests, and rumor has it many gems may be purchased by using a fabulous and mythical thing called a credit card. After innumerable unsuccessful explorations, our geologists will return to the island and resign themselves to searching for copper, marble, and gold.

Geologist name: Windows Explorer.

One day, my Geologist just walked in a computer store and totally got fascinated with a Windows Laptop and wanted to explore everything about the fascinating object he saw there. On a certain day, he was so turned over by it, he changed his name to this one.

i have named my Geologists Jasper and Perry Dot. They are named after the precious stones they love to seek.

My Jolly Geos are called Arthur, Ford, Trillian, Zaphod Marvin and Slartibartfast. For obvious reasons.

I actually bought another Jolly just so I could have room for Slarti. I felt that he deserved it for all of the nice work he did with the fjords.

I named my jolly geologist Jerome after my late husband. One morning Jerome awoke in a barn on the Ares server with no memories as to how or why he was there. As the day went on, he found himself wondering around the island admiring the architecture. He sat down at a fountain and started to sketch aimlessly. A well respected person in the town was curious and when he saw the stunning drawings offered to send Jerome to geologist school. Jerome excelled at the lessons and each morning, when he woke he remembered a little bit more of his architectural knowledge and his wife and kids seem almost within his grasp. Every day he throws himself into his work and on his first trip out, he discovered a hidden stone quarry with a vein of marble. That night at the tavern there was a raucus chant of Jerry the Jolly Geologist, although many words were slurred. Who knows what info he will remember tomorrow morning when he awakes in a room in the floating residence tomorrow...

I named mine "Can I Mine Granite?", Since a dream of all of us is to someday have enough granite for upgrading everything!

Good afternoon, sir. How may the registry office help you?"

Rocky took off his cap. He appreciated the looks of the young lady at the counter. Women on the island never worked at jobs outside of the home or the Mayor's office, so you rarely saw one outside of your own family.

"I have come to register as a professional geologist. My family has been in the business for generations, but as soon as I heard that we could now register under our own name, I rushed down here." Rocky was a slim man, as most of his family was. They spent long hours tramping through the mountains of Ares and never gained a pound of excess weight.

"Certainly, sir. If you could just put down your qualifications here, as well as your name here, here and here. Uhm. You can write, can't you, sir?"

He smiled. "Yes, I can write. The Village Schools have every member of our family on their rosters."

"Excellent." she beamed at him and then blushed prettily. She turned the form around and started going over it. Suddenly she stopped in shock. "Is this some type of JOKE?"

"Joke? What is wrong?" He looked down at the form. She had her finger on his name. "What is it?" he asked.

"This name. It contains the forbidden letter!"

"Forbidden? But this contains only the letters we were taught in school" Rocky was puzzled. The formerly nice girl was furious with him.

"This letter here. It is not allowed in official titles, names of the official guilds, or names to be registered in this office."

"So I can't use my family name of Har…"

"STOP!" She interrupted him. "I don't want that name ever spoken here."

"But, it is my family name."

"Find something else."

Rocky walked out of the Mayor's House wondering how he would tell his parents that he was now Rocky Rhyolite and that the Hard family name would never be spoken of as a family of professional geologists.

Having witnessed the mumblings and suspicions concerning my Geologist personally
I hereby issue this statement to allay and correct these misgivings once and for all.
As a young founder I will freely admit, that although I had high expectations I had to hire
what our meager start-up monies would accommodate. And I did forsake my own ill feelings
about his strange behavior.

Never the less when you convinced me he was a lazy scoundrel and that he was possessed,
three of our best citizens were driven senseless trying to analyze his speech as well as half our winter
crops thrown at him in the stocks. It has been noticed he is meticulous in nature but we have not been able
to follow him and disprove or prove charges of laziness, as he almost magically vanishes on his ventures.
Yet to this day he has found just enough of the treasured ores as has met our needs.

Therefore It Is Decreed

He will be called Mr.Picky owing to the facts he must be called something
and communication directly is dangerous.

Furthermore all attempted amateur exorcisms as well as
burnings of Mr.Picky's house will cease as of this day of our Lord.

To further quench the fears of the citizens, The Crown is joined in negotiations with the Higher Kingdoms
to acquire the employ of the legendary Z-ore-O , a Geologist of wide acclaim.

Geo Name: Nicus
Nicus has always been fond of copper. In his study in economics, along with his search and research for the center of universe, he established that money supply directly affects the price level. By inference, he then concluded that if copper ore supply were to go up, then he can get more of them by trading his various belongings such as book fittings. After extensive study, he discovered ways to guarantee quality copper mineshafts involving repeatedly building and demolishing mines. In appreciation of his scientific contribution, gentlemen and scholars around the globe referred to him as Nicolaus "Copper" Nicus.

These guys quickly learned they are much more suited to finding precious metals on the ground then in stage coaches and banks...

Super (jolly geologist)
Super got his name because one day while out looking for some deposits, Super found a book. The book showed how to build 7 buildings that produced 3 types of other books. The books that were produced gave the reader super powers. Super quickly brought the book he found to the King. The King read the book and ordered the buildings to be built, so Super could gain the powers that the book mentioned. Super read the books that the buildings produced and indeed did gain super powers. He was able to find larger deposits, faster deposits, extra deposits, treasure and most of all he could find them faster. So the King declared the jolly geologist was a super jolly geologist and the name stuck. From that day forward he was known through out the kingdom as Super!

my original two geologist names are Copper and Stoner who were twins when born. They grew to live a life of hostility and adversity between them. Stoner grew to love rock and it caused him all kinds of problems. Copper was more of a straight and narrow kind of guy and was always trying to keep stoner out of trouble and chasing him down. Eventually Stoner moved from basic rock to really harder stuff the "white rock". Copper at this point had gotten married to the perky geologist Titanium and was working as the law. He eventually had to arrest Stoner and this made his wife, the geologist and exotic dancer Goldflake lonely.

Name: Jason Sarkar (Geologist)

Names in story: Jason Sarkar (Geo), David Sarkar (General), Isaac Sarkar (Explorer), Ezequiel Sarkar (Mayor), Angela Sarkar (Builder)

Theme: Settlers Online

Additional Notes: This is about my island. It also mentions some things about what I have accomplished. It may be turned into a series if another name your general/explorer is ever brought about.

Backstory:

Long ago, an island was founded by the Sarkar family. This island became governed by Ezequiel Sarkar. Now, Jason Sarkar is his cousin. Jason always loves being in the mountains trying to find riches. He is always after the rarest rewards out there. However, the first time he went out was near the Mayor House looking for resources. The first resource he had located was stone. He returned and reported his discovery to Ezequiel. Ezequiel was pleased, and claimed that Jason should be their main resource locater. Jason did not care for that name at all and he created a team that was known as Geologists. While the town continued to prosper and build from all the stone that they could locate near the mayor house.

Finally the day arrived. The citizens of Sarkar had expanded north (S4) and claimed the area however they had discovered through their explorers that there was hostile bandits to the north and northest, and with them going even further north they learned there was bandits there as well. They did not have any type of weapons to defend themselves in case these bandits became brave and attack their new land! So Ezequiel went to his other cousin, called David. David was just appointed to Military General for the Sarkar Island. David showed the building designs for the first type of resource but said that the wood would not suffice for up to close combat. We can rely on it for far, but what happens if their dogs go after us? We need a new resource. So David and Ezequiel went to their cousin, Jason and asked him. May you please explore these new mountains we just aquired and let us know if there is anything but stone in these mountains?

Jason agreed readily and started heading out. This trip took longer due to the travel time and new mountains. He wanted to make sure he found everything he could. He finally found a new resource, it was brown in color and was much harder then wood. He returned with it and presented it to his two cousins. Both cousins agreed and they started the construction of the copper smelter and bronze weaponsmith. When the copper smelter was all the way up, they melted it down and it formed into bronze. With this bronze they could make their new weapons known as bronze weapons. They started to train citizens and launched their assault to the east (S2).

Jason, became bored and the town started needing better resources and finally after Ezequiel went to him for assistance with a blue print for the noble residence because the citizens of Sarkar Island were complaining about their life style in regular residences were not enough for them.

Jason had looked over the design, and agreed with Ezequiel that there is no way stone would be good enough to build this grand building. So he personally went back into the mountains to look for another resource other then stone. It took him much longer to find this resource because it was rare and more unique. He finally returned with a sample of it and presented it to the mayor, Ezequiel. They finally had a new resource to be using to use on construction and that was known as marble. For now the citizens were happy.

Time progressed, and David went to Ezequiel after they had claimed the last area to the east (S3). He went to the Ezequiel, and said, "Mayor, my men need better bows and better weapons. The enemy is becoming stronger in their defense. The men in the furthest north we can take on, but we will suffer decent but from what Isaac has reported to me. All other remaining hostile enemies are much stronger and we need better men immeaditely. We need something stronger then this copper! With these new mountains, can we send out our cousin, Jason, to look about to see what they can find?" Ezequiel agreed and went to Jason. Jason agreed and was excited, new mountains to explore and we're looking for something stronger then copper. He packed his backpack and went to the east, and looked all around the new mountains. The first mineral he searched for stone and couldn't find a single trace of stone in these mountains. He was in the mountains long enough to also realize there was no copper or marble but he found scraps of some other resource but he stayed longer to find a bigger deposit. Finally he found something, he picked up the greyish blackish resource and brought it to the mayor house and presented it to Isaac and Ezequiel at the same time. Ezequiel and Jason both looked at it and couldn't make out the purpose of it at all. It was harder then copper. When they ran it through the copper smelter they learned the heat wasn't strong enough to melt it. So they went to their other cousin, Angela and asked her if she can craft a way to melt this stuff down. She looked at it, and said, "I can as while I get more. Bring me more! Plenty of it too!" all the while giggling and being happy. She loved science.

Finally she returned and reported that a new building design was created and they are heading out to the new site in the east to construct it. Angela also informed her cousins, this mineral you had located is iron ore. But to keep it melting we're going needs lots and lots of coal. We will be needing a faster means to aquire coal then our current method. I've heard we just claimed the furthest north land. (S7) She looked at Jason and asked, "May you search those mountains for something new?" Jason agreed being excited again, because he had new mountains to explore once again. So he set out, and learned there was new stuff. None of what he already had learned was in all the other lands they had. Finally he returned with the resource that was just as black as any night without any stars. It looked similiar to what came from the coker's. He called it, "Coal." and Angela pointed the builders to the new deposits with the mine.

One day, Angela approached Ezequiel. She told the mayor that many of the buildings require higher cost then what we can afford at this time because we are simply not producing it. She had found out from other islands already producing gold. She gave samples of it to Ezequiel and said, "We need to be able to find this on our island. After all, we need our buildings improved and with the recent lost of our old guild. Our new guild leader, Frood and other prior guild mates need this as well. We have established the new guild name as well. The new guild name is Phoenix Rising.

Ezequiel agreed with Angela and approached Jason by himself. Ezequiel showed the gold ore to Jason, and Jason examined it, and a sparkle starred in his eyes. He recognized it, and said, "I think I saw some of this. I'll go to those mountains and re-examine them to see if my memory is still good." He left briskly before Ezequiel could pardon him to leave.

Jason went to the mountains to the east (S2) and re-examined the mountains where he didn't recognize anything in these mountains prior hand. He examined the mountains much longer then usual and finally returned with the same substance and handed it to Ezequiel. Jason informed him that the mountains to the east will contain gold ore. Go ahead and find it. With all these mountains, until the last land is conquered by us, I'm going enjoy going through the mountains with my geologists. Ezequiel released him, but before he could leave said, "Be at the mayor house tomorrow for an announcement, also get our cousin, Isaac as well."

Isaac, just returned from battle against Mary and went to the mayor house with Jason while they talked about their childhood. They finally arrived at the Mayor House where their cousin, Ezequiel hugged them and said, "Welcome home lands. We have made this island our home and with your great leading ability in battle we took the land, and made it our own." I am now appointing you to the rank of "Battle Hardened General" and when the news hit Isaac, Isaac smiled and said, "Thank you cousin, I won't let you down." Ezequiel turned and looked at Jason and said, "With your vast knowledge of these mountains and the new mountains you need to explore. I hereby declare you will be our jolly geologist." Jason looked suprised but happy and said thank you as well. The citizens of Sarkar island cheered and they held a festival in their honor.

At the end of the day, Ezequiel sat down at his desk and said to nobody in particular, "Well father, you were right about me. You knew I would lead people one day and that what I do now. But there is never rest for any of us. is there father? May you rest in peace."

Gneiss and Chrys Olivine, Geologists

Brothers Gneiss and Chrys (Chrysolite) are the most recent generation of the famous Olivine family. Along with their sister Peri (short for Peridot) they learned their trade from their parents, Rose Quartz-Carrowmore and Igneous Olivine III. The Olivines are well known for mining and exploration, even though the extended family prefers to spend their time below ground where the temperature is constant and the 'weather' stable. They believe it keeps them protected from the erosion of time.

It was apparent that Gneiss would take up the family vocation. From a young age he brought home bits of rock for his collection that he found beautiful, although to most they appeared ordinary. Frequently begging to go along on his father's trips to discover new mines, he quickly learned how to divine the best locations for a variety of minerals. He is proud to carry on the family tradition. The earth is his first love, but he still hopes one day to be as lucky as his father and find a companion that loves geology as much as he does.

It was not evident that younger sibling Chrys would follow in the family's footsteps. Preferring to be the center of attention, he tried in many ways to garner the favor of his parents. The most infamous of these was climbing to the top of a mountain where he only succeeded in getting a sunburn. It was then that he realized that he did indeed belong closer to the earth, if not beneath it. When he finally settled down to study, he proved an apt pupil. He is less picky than his brother, but the dearth of women settlers on the island has him thinking of heading back towards the mainland.

Sister Peri, however, could never bring herself to be hidden below the earth. Of all the Olivine children, she craved attention the most, and frequently got her wish. Her obsidian locks, paired with sea green eyes and alabaster skin combined well with her refined features to make her shine in a crowd. Although she loves geology and learned as well as her brothers, her preference is for gemstones. Some day she may join the family business, but for now she is content to attract attention and tend bar at the local tavern.

The Olivine family enjoyed a good life in another kingdom until a deadly mining accident besmirched the family name and killed Igneous. Although they handle pressure well, snubbing by the community and grief over the loss of their patriarch caused the family to choose to pack up and head East. They wandered, somewhat randomly, until they heard that King Damien of Ubi was looking for explorers and settlers to tame an archipelago of mineral rich islands in the mostly unexplored far East. Undaunted by rumors of bandit hideouts on the islands, the family boarded a ship and headed for an island that was just beginning to be explored.

At first only Gneiss chose to continue the family business, but was soon joined by his brother when Chrys realized how much attention the new mineral discoveries earned. Peri still enjoys the attention tending bar at the local tavern. The remaining time she spends helping their mother on the family farm, waiting until the opportunity to seek out gems presents itself. Rose was unable to return to geology after the loss of her beloved husband, but feels farming keeps her close to the earth she loves. They are once again prosperous. Although they miss their father, are grateful for all that Igneous gave them.

In the begining when the village just open, the time was hard...everything still new and still under development. With 300 gold coin BlindFinder got the job as the village geologist. He dont know much but he learn as much as he can. Finding stone deposit then marble and copper too, later its iron coal and then gold. He stumble quite alot..taking his own sweet time but he get the job done... Much later, there are great celebration..it attract lots of new comers and thats the time when FastSnail and QuickKoala applied for the job as new geologist. Fast snail hail from land of nightmare, he search for new adventure in the village of settler. QuickKoala comes from UpandAbove looking for better job and more gold. But what a surprise they found more than that, turn out FastSnail and QuickKoala are identical twin seperated at birth...! Well, now they are the best of coworker and the worst of enemies (both at the same time) as they progress and achieve goal of the same time. Now with the bookbinder build in the village they got more knowledge and able to do better job. Who knows what kind of geologist they would grow too..ahh but BlindFinder seem to stay like he is forever.

I had to go with the basics. Skippy, Rocky, Panner, Digger and Geol .
