I noticed that if you sell something through the trade office. ( I think ) you get rewarded with balloons too.
Wait a house that has a pop of 20...why am I wasting hundreds of thousands of resources again?
About to give up on this game.
Crisis quests, more punishment than reward
Fairytale: Incredibly un-rewarding rewards that I wouldn't waste space on my island for if they were free
a 20 population house? Why would I handicap myself like that.
We only have 4 days to reach 100% to be able to qualify to go onto phase 2?? Is phase 1's 100% the same amount as phase 2's??
ok what happens if we have extra balloons when event 1 finishes ...do we get to keep them for event 2?
how about starting this event when 90% of north america is awake, rather than when 90% of europe is awake? sounds like an unfair advantage to me
Any idea of the number of balloons needed on each server ? 100% of what ...
Only got one Pirate Hut and one Doomsday trophy and those were tradeable, so who knows.
The HUT is just decoration. Doesn't hold settlers. The Pirate Residence was something you could win. But only 2 servers could win those. Pirate Residence at least was 50 pop and upgradeable like Noble.
The settlers2 HQ building only 20 pop. I don't know. this event is disappointing.
the only good thing about the event are the vouchers (probably).
I think the Settlers 2 House should be upgradeable. http://static.cdn.ubi.com/0034/archi...06_26_s2hq.png
Each level gives 20+ settlers. To stay true to the 20th anniversary theme.
So level 1 = 20 pop
Level 2 = +20 pop = 40
Level 3 = +20 pop = 60
Level 4 = +20 pop = 80
Level 5 = +20 pop = 100
This will make it very unique and rare.
Given that the building looks like a barracks footprint, it doesn't seem so bad. I will not sneer at a free 20 pop building, nor will most lower level players, I think.
I love events and similar efforts in all sorts of games. The variety of play focus alone is worth it. I would have hoped, and still do in fact, that free stuff of any kind, especially gems, even if the amount seems small to a higher level player (not to me!), would encourage everyone to help our servers reach the goals.
Folks need to realize that the event, and thus the rewards, are available for ALL players, not just the high levels, so the rewards need to be scaled so that everyone can get some benefit, without being overpowering for somebody who is still level 10 or so. It is a careful and difficult balancing act.
I just saw the video and it look like the building is a 3x3 size of a barrack. For 20 pops. Goodness! It's oversized and doesn't provide much of a benefit for high level players that are out of island space.
Sure it's great for lowbies as they have plenty of space.
But as It's been said many times before. These events always punish HIGH level players not reward them.
3x3 is going to be very hard to fit on an island if you don't find the right corner spots. otherwise you're going to end up losing 4 buildings worth of space.
I REALLY HOPE they can make the building upgrade-able (no graphics change needed). so that we can max it out to 100 pop.
By allowing for it to upgrade, it will at least benefit the high level players who have the granites to spend to upgrade it. While the lower players can be happy with just lvl 2 or 3.
I don't mind if it cost a lot to upgrade. But at least make it useful rather than pretty.
Three questions. Where do I find the codes? How do I know for sure which world I am in as there seems to be more than one with my flag. Why keep playing after level . It is all about adventures at that point?
1. You can find them all on the website, facebook, or twitter. so far 1 has been found on the front page of the site news page if u roll your mouse over the balloons graphic it reveals the code. somebody posted a thread on the forum for codes. look for it.
http://forum.thesettlersonline.net/t...s-Working-List
2. You are "US 1" Since you're on Zeus.
3. If you're level 26 or above then you get a second chain quest that does adventures. otherwise no its not about adventures. it's about playing the game and converting your resources for donations. go to the general discussion forum and you'll find help there.

Look for the balloon hunt answers.
The Dev diary says nothing about having to qualify to reach the second round, but the in game event description says if you don't qualify, you won't be moving on to round two. Can someone please clarify this discrepancy?
Dev diary makes it sound like every server gets to participate in the celebration. In game event description makes it sound like only some servers get to participate in the celebration. It would be a real shame to deny some servers the ability to participate in this celebration.
The in-game Event Ranking stats should be updated more often. Every 15-30 minutes would probably work (although faster would be nice), but not seeing any movement for hours is irritating and hardly worthy of an in-game stat-tracking feature.
I'm slightly concerned about everyone spending all their resources trying to hit 100% for phase 1 and then come phase 2 time, nothing will be left to turn into balloons. Particularly bad bc balloons from phase 1 don't count towards phase 2. I do hope BB takes all this into consideration with the numbers needed for phase 2 and modifies the event accordingly. I'm not raging about the event, I'm actually happy to have something to do and use the excess resources on. But just a concern i have about it.
Dear BB:
Thanks for the new adventures.
Loot sucks really, really, really, really bad -- but they're good fun.
BB's,
Us players are quite confused - do the game worlds who don't make it in part one of the event get eliminated and can't participate in part 2 or are we grouped together with the other "unsuccessful" worlds to make one big group to compete against everyone else? (Please clear up the language in the event window if elimination does not result in being unable to participate in the second half since multiple sources of information are telling us different things!)

Here are some preliminary answers to some FAQs:
1. Will balloons gathered during the first phase affect the second phase results?
No. Balloons acquired during the first phase of the event will NOT affect the second phase results. This means that all balloons you get during the first phase should be used during the first phase - they will lose their value at the end of the first phase.
2. Does this mean that all unused balloons will be deleted with the start of the second phase?
No. We will not delete any balloons, but please keep in mind that balloons from the first phase will not affect the second phase results.
3. Can I store balloons from the first phase in my storehouse/star menu and donate them during the second phase?
Technically, it will be possible, but - as stated above - balloons from the first phase will be taken out of the second phase results calculation, hence doing so would be pointless.
I will try to get some more answers for you in the morning! In the meantime, happy balloon hunting! :)
Thanks for the url. and the us1.
Also, I was asking about level fifty in the regular game; do you play just for the adventures,.
As a suggestion. DO NOT upgrade your provision house to 5 from 4. it will LOCK you out for a week and won't be able to convert resources to balloons.
The first advanture "Shaman" is horrible. It's so hard for lv34 without a vet to complete. Why put it out anyway?
I can't complete it in 3 days and it will expire....... My guildmates are not interested in it due to the high loss and no loot.
The Shaman adventure will take roughly 1300 Recruits, 135 Bowmen lost in order to be completed if you have the Veteran, and up to Elite soldiers, (prolly only a lil higher for just having xbows and soldiers instead). This is for killing everything, not using blocks or avoiding camps.
*I've gone through ideas/suggestions and whittled off a lot... it's down to a max of 822 R, 135 B, and up to 2 S lost total. (down to 666 recruits, 135 bowmen and up to 2 soldiers lost (possible to whittle off 15 more recruits, but i didn't care that much) by using blocks!)
Hi BB_Effiluna
Here's a positive feedback for you guys. I like the new retro style maps where you find stuff. those were pretty neat and fun.
I like the shamen adventure. but didn't like that it had only XP as reward and the balloon amount was really small considering how much we lose in terms of units. possibly increase the loot or give us loot in the future. this map wasn't so bad to do and hope u add it as a regular adventure later but good loot of course.
the thing I liked about it was the 'click on the rocks to remove them. that was pretty neat.
Hurrah for another browser based game that's gonna go down the toilet because the dev's won't communicate with the community...this is Ikarium all over again...
Also could someone please officially clarify this qualifying crap? and why hide the balloon amount we need? Percentages are nice, but a numerical goal would be a light at the end of the tunnel. It makes me think this really is just a resource sink...
Not to be a **** or something , but if you use soldiers instead of recruits , you not lose as much :)
im finding contradiction between #2 and #3. phase 1 is calculated as the total balloons donated to meet the qualifying requirements. it does not say anything about the balloons produced. i fail to see what is stopping people from producing a surplus of balloons if they are not being wiped from star menus. yes, phase 1 balloons are taken out of phase 2 calculations, this means at the start of phase 2, donated balloons reset to 0. again not effecting star menus. so in what way is this actually preventing us, or others, from hoarding balloons for the next phase. and if there is nothing in place, the servers who have already qualified will have the event over before phase 2 begins, all they gotta do is unload there star menus.
What is going to happen is stated in the first post is that people will be unable to produce more balloons once we hit the 100% donated in phase 1. We will only be able to get "extra balloons" via the quests.
Or do they mean that the balloons donated in phase 1 are not counted towards the balloons in phase 2 - but that you can use balloons created in phase 1 and not donated in phase one for phase 2? Yeah, it's really not clear at all.
Two more problems I have with the design of this contest are:
1) how donating the most balloons is going to be independent of who completes the goals first since it seems to me that whom ever hits all the goals first is going to have a huge advantage in terms of the sheer number of balloons they can donate.
and
2) how European servers are not getting a boost since the start time of the contest is most beneficial to the European servers.
If someone could explain to me how a forced resource drain is in any way a celebration, that would be great.
Is there some way of distinguishing phase 1 balloons from phase 2 balloons? If you don't want us saving up balloons, why wouldn't you just wipe out all stored balloons before phase 2? I'm imagining that phase 1 balloons and phase 2 balloons will look exactly the same and no way to tell them apart. So how the heck are you going to know the balloons came from phase 1? Are they tagged with a different name than what you will call them in phase 2?
Overall I'm going to give this event a grade of D- for being very unclear of the rules, changing the criteria for reaching a 100% mid stream, and for thinking that a forced resource drain is any kind of celebration.
Maybe I'll just take a few weeks off while you all "celebrate".
Greetings Settlers!
I come bearing more answers to some FAQs. :)
1. When exactly does the first phase end?
The first phase will last approximately 4 days. Unfortunately, it is not possible to specify the exact time frame at this time. If your game world reaches 100%, the first phase ends for you.
2. When will the second phase start?
The second phase will start at the same time for all game worlds and will last until July 23rd. When the exact start time is determined, we will let you know immediately.
3. Does my game world need to get to 100% in phase 1?
There will be no penalty if your game world does not reach 100% during the first phase of the event, but you should make sure you play as much as possible–the faster you are, the more rewards you get. All game worlds will participate in the second phase.
4. Some game worlds will work together during the second phase; how will the teams be decided?
That's correct, some game worlds will cooperate in order to achieve a common goal. More details about groups will be announced next week. First, we will need to re-analyze the available data to make sure the 2nd phase competition will be fair for all players.
I hope this clears up some of your questions. Happy balloon hunting!
hey BB_Effiluna, i had sent you a few messages, could you reply soon? thanks.

This still does not answer what happens with balloons that we have in our star, but have not added to our storehouse and donated during first phase. Will we be able to then keep them and add them during the second phase? and will they count?
All this complaining some ppl are doing about it "wasting resources" and how they aren't going to do the event. I have one very simple question for you. What good are these imaginary items doing sitting in your imaginary storehouses? Having huge stores of resources in the game does you no good. I understand on the staples like bread, weapons, and "high dollar" items. But for the cheap and easily obtained resources, it hurts you none to help the server out as a whole. In reality, stingily hording your imaginary items and refusing to help out only just makes you a selfish (censored) in RL.
It may be too late, but I really do wish BB would put a clause in saying that players who don't donate x number of balloons will not receive the rewards the rest of the sever worked so hard to achieve.
Arcain, please remember 2 things:
1. The server is taking our resources and only "might" give us a reward which may or may not be = to what we give. to the level 50's, they are making balloons by the 10's of thousands, working to cover the players who only can make 10. Remember that when you complain about the guy who is level 4.
2. Yes there are selfish players out there, but no, you are not in a position to argue against them. They don't have to give anything, nor should you force them.
To balance #2, if your are hoarding, please give. It benefits no one to hoard when there is much you could receive by giving.
