20th Anniversary Event Feedback

So i think i'm done with this sham of an event. I really did try. I donated several hundred thousand in resources doing my best to make as many balloons as possible. But it is beyond obvious now that this event wasn't balanced at all. Not to let the US server off the hook. We've had plenty of complainers and non-participants. But I think it was doomed from the start. Phase 1 actually killed it I think. "how they figured out balancing and numbers"? my arse. They didn't obviously didn't do a good job balancing. But the biggest issue is phase 1 killed all the extra resources that us "weaker" econs had.

Its not worth fighting and devoting EVERYTHING to a stupid event that has lousy rewards to begin with. And I don't see any sign the devs are willing to help us out.

The event is a bit unfair for sure. Look at German 14. A brand new small pop world. They got paired up with German 2. It's like a freebie win for them. Free ride.

We should have done nothing and let them pair us up with German 1 and get the rewards that way.


If they wanted a real competition. It should have been an economics adventure map where everybody must do the map and results from the map are recorded.

This way everybody starts even footing.

Aside from the MANY other problems with this event, I think Phase 1 killed our chances for being competitive in Phase 2. So many of us used up a huge amount of our stored resources to (needlessly by the way) hit 100% in phase 1 that there was nothing left to donate with in phase 2. I know this happened to me. I donated the 150k+ hwl and over 100k meat i had in storage in phase 1. There was no way for me to make that again as it took time for my island to build that up. And then when BB went to "balance" the event, they based it on false numbers bc we can't actually produce what we donated in phase 1.
Not letting the US server off the hook. There were plenty of players who simply refused to participate and "waste" resources. Which i don't understand if they are unused and cheap then not throwing away anything of value. But the biggest problem above that is simply player apathy. The rewards are a joke and there is no competing with the germans so many players i've talked to just never even tried.

BB I wish you'd think these events through a little more thoroughly before implementing. With how they actually play out from players point of view. And give consideration to what it takes for individualistic online gamers to actually put effort into something. 100 gems? Seriously?

I too would like to see the numbers. In my opinion they should be based on ratios of number of players at each level verses the number of balloons donated and the price of gems. Until the company Blue Byte does this the contests are not contests at all they are inventions to make the company money and to do that they must drain resources. I too will continue to make and donate balloons because I am not a quitter by nature. When they first announced a competition between servers I felt that there wasn't any way to make it equal or fair unless they used ratios and so far BB will not tell us how they figure the numbers; do they have something to hide?

This event is going -exactly- the way they want it to. (they know what everyone has in stock, how many gem buildings have been bought, how many building licences have been used, etc)
The last worldwide event worked out similarly.
All we can do is decide to work with what we're given to get what they offer, or not.

LETS LOOK AT JUST A "SLICE" OF WHAT BB IS DOING WRONG WITH THIS EVENT:

US GROUP... HAS 14TH/30TH grouped together

So assuming that if you were to create a balanced and fair combo of servers to compete with us (as well as others)... one server would be higher and the other would be the lower (Example: 15th/29th or 13th/31st), BUT NOT BOTH BEING HIGHER RANKED NUMBERS. If both were ranked higher than that would be like two 3rd place teams fighting against two 1st place teams. Obviously that would seem unfair right? BB would never do that right? Well... lets look at some of the groupings:

14th/30th (US)
----------------
8th/28th (both higher) GERMAN
11th/17th (both higher) GERMAN
12th/13th/38th (first two alone are both higher) RUSSIA
9th/24th (both higher) POLAND
10th/26th (both higher) POLAND

Looking at the groups mentioned above... they are obviously BOTH HIGHER RANKED than ours... so regardless of how BB spins this... those groups (based on performance) will always be higher ranked than us. There are other groups that are questionable (based on the fact they are nearly doing 4x better than the US server). Looking at this information... balanced is not a word that comes to mind. If you were to combine this list above along with the questionable groups, you are looking at more than 2/3rds of the groups being improperly balanced.

FAIR IS NOT WHAT WE GOT, BALANCED IS NOT WHAT WE GOT. WHAT WE GOT ARE GROUPS BASED ON WHAT COUNTRY SERVER YOU ARE ON, AND THEN ARRANGED SO IT FAVORS LARGER MORE ACTIVE "GEM BUYING" SERVERS. ONCE AGAIN... MONEY RULES... WHILE THEY "PRETEND" TO CHAMPION THE SMALL GUY.

How do you expect to keep your players in this ever evolving day and age of multiple gaming choices when you lie to your players?

Ubi/BB need to address this. They need to either confirm or deny the pic is accurate and give us the exact dates of the sale. We can decide for ourselves if we feel slighted and how we want to handle it from there. This is not the first time I have heard the German server gets preferential treatment on sales and in other ways, but it would be disturbing for it to happen during a competitive event.

Well, thank you Boombastic2000! No wonder we cant get anywhere on this event! What a shame. Does not make you want to spend another dime to put in their pockets does it? Why would we spend money on speed ups during this event if we have no chance to win?

Thank you Asiastrings for having courage and the tenacity to do what is right! If they ban you I think a lot of people who know what is going on will quit, and for the most part those are the people who spend the money on Zeus server!

This should have been a great event but donating all our resources for balloons then donating the balloons for what the prizes are lame and the gem sale what a joke you want everything to be 20's well you should be selling more gems for the money bs how many you get for the price. I have spent a couple thousand on this game and i won't spend a dime more till this changes.

I sold ALL my resources, including my granite, to do this event. All I got was three stupid blue flowers. I hope the staff had fun and got a big chuckle out of this because it sure wasn't fun being the user/financial supporter of it.

And then to pair us with Ares.....who came *nowhere near* our phase 1 completion rate. I'm all for USA, but I thought phase 1 was a "qualifier" to place us with a similarly progressive server. Ares wet the bed in phase 1...and you put us with them?!

Another thing is, where is the creativity with this event? This is supposed to be an awesome blow out celebration of 20 years, and all the creative team could think of....is an event where we essentially trash and destroy our stockpiles of resources for a month straight. It's like the lamest concept ever. We would have been better off without any event.

Lastly, you KNOW a lot of us are cross server players. Why on earth would you make such a dimwitted error in the gem price packaging as this? It's a slap in the face.

This event is just pitiful... seriously just the most pitiful release for a number of reasons. So disappointed.

I got paid today and for the first time since I started.. this game dd not get any money.. and will not again from me... I think, if MOST everyone withholds money from them.. then maybe there will be a chance they will answer our concerns.

I notice that none of the threads about this have stickies on them, so I'm guessing they hope we will just vent and move on. I'm sure we will hear later how this event was a success like the total fails in the past. Seams like the developers either don't hear the decent or most likely just don't care. This is just my opinion but the whole idea of this is to make us use up our resources so that we spend more money on the game. I don't mind using my resources to make balloons and have been but I refuse to spend money to make balloons. To the company of Blue Byte this isn't a game it is a buisness to make money and they know that the money is here in the US. We can put a stop to this by not voting them the best game next year and by not spending any more money when they have these type of events. This is in OUR CONTROL.

True Blue Byte is not answering because, they know the answer is, Yes we are taking advantage of you. Until they can think of away to twist this into something that sounds like they are not. No one from BB will be allowed to answer on this thread.

I'm not saying anyone is cheating, but something is up. When you look at the percentages on the list and it's different 15 mins before the update, by like 5% then 20 mins after update Germany gains another 10%. So in 45 mins they gained 15% when no one else had moved. Kinda odd. Thought it was only updated every 2 hrs, but Germany got updated 2 times before everyone else did. And I wasn't only one to see.

And to this, that, and the other things, I've had it up to my ears in who' is better then who and what is better then what...

if on test server it gets answered, the results I will publish, the results will justify how much they really know about the game, therefore perhaps aiding answers much questioned world wide. Mind you... my perspective is a narrow reality of what this game offers, therefore is why the islands used differs so much then the rest of you all.. (meaning how many bowmakers do u own? myself 7, how many genls? myself 15, how many BS makers? myself u don't wanna no).

Quite agree with the unfairness and if you would like to post in your thread that it is only the German servers who have that x3 offer. None of the other European ones do. It is blatant favoritism and I was appalled when I saw it yesterday.

I got an e-mail from the game on thursday with a voucher code in it but it was ONLY for the german server. The caod was for the new retro buffs-ok they suck and don't do anything and blah blah blah. My point is the 20yrs that the Settlers game has been around was it only the germans that played it? I DON'T THINK SO!!! If I can get that crappy buff for my german account why not on ALL the servers?? Yes i troll around alot and try to get ppl upset and most of that is just me messing around but this is not right in any way. I just hope by the time they sleep off the weekend drunk they man-up and correct this injustice.
