20th Anniversary Event Feedback

The pairing of servers was completely mishandled as well. Next time, 1st place needs paired with 30th, 2nd place with 29th, 3rd place with 28th. That's the only way to be fair about it - servers that are years older and have all level 50 players with super super upgraded economies and provision houses need handicaps with the slowest, smallest, newest servers. You can't take USA1 which took 4 days to reach 100% and give them USA2 which never even made it to 60% and expect them to compete with a German server that hit 100% overnight.
Fair chance for all is a ridiculous way to describe the current event.

how about we just get the same 3x gem spree as the germans for the 4th of july??? that's a start. I am still trying to figure that one out....

BB does owe American players an answer why German servers are given a better deal than Americans on the 4th of July.... doesn't compute. Or wait, i got it, just ignore us! that'll work too :p

I share your frustration on how the event was structured but you need to phrase things a bit better. This forum is also read by players on both servers you know. Your faulting a newer less populated server for not doing as well as the older established server in phase one at the very same time you need them to help in phase 2.

When players on Ares are just as angry,frustrated,and discouraged as those on Zeus the last thing they need to read is more trash talk about them coming from own countrymen.

BB Ted answered some of those concerns in Global, on Ares.

These are all pretty valid arguments especially during a competition like this where the amount of balloons=total rewards. We had no chance from the beginning. We were talking about it in our guild i logged in around midnight our time 6am German time and they were already like at 5% in the first phase. Also, people already spent everything on the first phase and we(Ares) didn't even qualify so imagine now for phase two people are wiped out of resources.

Why have we not heard from the Canadian server?

I wish there was a Canadian server... maybe then chat wouldn't be full of USA USA chants :P

But really, I don't get y everyone is so shocked that once again BB is using less then open tactics to promote the game in different countries.
Sorta falls into marketing 101.

If ur not happy don't participate in the 'event' I for one am not burning any more resources for balloons, hell I'm not even wasting my time 'donating' the ones I get in the mail/quests. Last time they counted them all anyway, donated or not so... ya whatever really.

Waste of time, energy and resources all rolled into one lame 'celebration' - like the last ones and the ones yet to come. don't expect anything and u wont be disappointed :)

ok so..
1. I don't disagree that the sales vary by region but *3 gems is way more then US servers have ever seen - so that 'shoe' has never been on my foot
2. 20% bonus versus *3 ...... ya that's not a raw deal at all
3. love how anytime the community voices there concerns but the term 'fair for everyone' regarding a bb promo/event they turn it around on us not being team players. so ya thanks again for blaming the players, really nice of you
4. 3* gem bonus, hmm I could buy resources, upgrade my ph to 5 and bang out a ton of balloons in a shorter time frame. that wouldn't give me an edge tho right? right....

bb ted didn't answer anything, he dropped the company lines like a good lil employee.

You want to fix this, raise the gems to match the germans and drop our first gem sale to a 75% discount.

I understand that BB has a bottom line and needs to make money, and that there are market strats. for different areas, however you can't have a multisever event and give advantages to one group. it is then just a marketing scam and not really a contest.So fare I've seen screen shots of 2 perks and have heard of others but will not mention them because I've not seen proof. I am one of the people who spends money on the game for myself and my daughter and was going to buy gems this weekend till I saw this. I will not buy anymore til BB address's the little scam they were pulling and as fare as the event goes I think they should just end it. it has no meaning now

there are no FAIR TRADE LAWS in Germany and the world court is backed up 300 yrs so suck it up and drive on 87

BB-USA I am asking you, I've witness' this in another game, Favoritism - destroys, this is the 2nd time !!! UBISOFT Must be told about this, BLue Byte is mis managing and causing destruction to its game... Please do not allow this to happen any longer, I don't care what the Chain of Command is... so what ? Ubisoft isn't going to fire you...

I have to say that the pairings were very poorly done. They are completely stacked against the USA servers. There is no way these pairings are fair to anyone except the German servers. I for one will not sacrifice anymore resources (or money, ever again) to this completely unfair and biased "contest" and scam "gem" events.

I could careless about what the germans do, it was BB who made it unbalanced and if you want to suck up go ahead, I prefer not to be a sucker when it comes to anything.

I think for punishment the German and Greek servers should be paired up because they get along so well in real life. LOL!

The 3x bonus sale is actually new. We've never gotten that before.

We haven't, but German servers have.. That is what they are talking about

From what I have seen the in the Global chat on Ares I think I get why blaming the players seems reasonable.. Right from the beginning people have been stating they are not taking part because it is pointless/no chance to win, or that they get more by selling stuff to those of us who are trying at higher then normal prices, or even that they get more by using same resources to advance their island then if they won. So yeah, a lot of people are either not helping much, not helping at all, profiteering unscrupulously or only helping in a haphazard way at best.

I also agree though that something must be seriously screwed up on how they "balanced" the servers - since if contributing economies were balanced anywhere near the way the indicated they would be then the results would not be so hugely different.

If anything this community event makes me bitter about the server I am on rather then feel like a group .. I know many, many players ARE contributing, but non-participating dead weight will prevent any possible success from occurring. The kicker of it of course is it is totally their right not to take part - they should be able to do whatever they want with the game they are playing...

If ONLY there were SOME way players who want to work together could form into some sort of separate group on a server.. an alliance of some sort.. I dunno know.. maybe like a GUILD and be judged that way instead. They bring in guild quests etc to try to get us to form guilds (because guilds tend to keep people playing online games for longer periods and reduce unsubbing) and then they do event competitions based on SERVERS instead and point out we do poorly because we are not using teamwork.. Yeah..
1) Get us to form teams (guilds)
2) Create competitions in which being on a team(guild) is irrelevant.
3) Point out we suck because we are not acting as a team.
What the hell?

As an aside, sorry if I seem so negative. I've been building 24/7 in my prov house for the event, emptying my warehouses of damned near everything - all to see it was as colossal a waste as the EOTW event was. UBIsoft seems to keep finding a way to turn "fun" events into incredibly depressing train wrecks instead.. Either find actual balance for server competitions or don't bother with them.

My questions for BB is why was the US servers linked up? That seems to go against what was reported earlier.

It's easy to have 'teamwork' when you know you have an advantage. When you know that you're not on a level playing field, you're just wasting any effort with no hope of success. We want our #1 Draft Pick, dammit.

I have seen nothing that explains how the percentages work. It appears that the whole thing was weighted in favor of the large, older servers. I also call for publication of the raw numbers and something that shows exactly how the percentages are/were calculated.
