More pay-to-win, great!! /sarcasm off
yep, once again they are going for the new money and ignoring the bank of money the older players have. I'm level 49 why spend money on leveling up now. Give us something to buy.
I've invested about $500 in this game...since February. I considered it supporting the game I loved. Now, at level 47, I'm not feeling any love back. I'm hitting the end game and I'm getting bored. The only reason I log in everyday is because of my guild. I do NOTHING but chat and help guild members. I'm bored with pretty much all of the advents (some aren't worth the loss ratio). The end game needs to be addressed, and not with Star Coins. This new premium account idea is a slap in the face to the older players. Well done indeed (not).
How about adding another free Trade Office slot or 2?
Thank you :)
As long as the buffs are able to be requested via TO (i.e. you can put in a request to BUY, not just sell), I don't see a problem with them.
If I get up the ambition to run adventures for a week, I might buy one for the additional loot and star points.
If you can only list the buffs to SELL (like Parrots), then yeah... not so great.
currently on test server yes you can offer to buy or sell these. I think this is also gonna be used to offset the low drop of Beans from fairy tale adventures. If I was pay cash for these as a 50 I would not likely buy this. But Long ago when we had our BIG sale of 100% gems I bought a gem pit that chugged along till I bought one with gems from first plus the weekly. I now have 4 with enough to buy a 5th. I may buy Myself a 6 month version just with these to off set the bean collection. Only because I can. If after 6 months its not improved I can decide then what to do. No point buying 5th gem pit first as after the 6 months my pits will have produced enough to Buy more.My guess earlier of the price of a gem pit being what premum would cost was close to the year membership.
The 50% bonus XP and loot does give you more star coins or beans from conversion, tested personally on test server.
the collection of the items off you island that seems tied to this anouncement are interesting. You collect items from home island and adventures similar to the egg hunt. As you collect these you turn them into buffs such as the 3x barracks buff. On test you do not have to have premuim to collect these. you can sell them or trade them.
i guess this is so you can under cut or offer differnet resources, yes you can offer to buy or sell these
Dear BB will this be released on the 8th with the fairy tale adventures? or do I wait till it is released to do them?
i'm failing to understand why 51-100 is going to make the game better than what is right now from 42-50 ?
the only thing you're getting different from 42 to 48 is the cannon guys and even those guys aren't really necessary to do adventures with.
i'd be bored to death and annoyed with a 51 to 100 with nothing in between to make it a reason to level.
in this past 12 months I had no reason to level to 50 realizing that once you hit 50 the xp are wasted. star coins was a really good solution. now I have a reason to get to 50 so I can convert wasted xp into coins.
if you're saying you don't want other stuff. that's silly. i'd like new adventures and new content before a level cap is even raised.
As a lvl 50 since Jun 2012, I'm loving all the new content, the premium accounts and everything else BB is doing to keep this game going. Sure there are some "mehs", but I'm just glad they are actively developing stuff. Premium accounts are a solid business decision. And if the prices on the test server remain, then all the better.
It's always amusing to me to see how the more intense, meta-gamers react to news that might affect how they play in relation to how others play. On a popular MMO that I also play, you see it in constant gripes about loot drops and epic gear items that they farmed for MONTHS for suddenly having an drop percentage adjustment and suddenly EVERYONE has the item and they get really angry.
Really?
How does what someone else having something that they paid for, or got through gem collection over months and months affect how YOU play this game? Your island isn't suddenly being overrun with tons of "newbies" with lasers mounted on their heads, laying waste to what you set up as a level 50 player since beta pre-guild blahblahblah. I purchased gems because I wanted a watermill. Boom, watermill. Did anyone get to level 50 slower because of my watermill? Did my guild suddenly come down with Browser Fever because I stopped playing for a few months? No, and no.
All you meta-gamers and Level Elitists are missing the point. This Pay-to-play feature affects you not one bit. None. Nope. Nada. If this game has 400 Level 50 players or 4, it doesn't affect your play experience, unles you're madly doing multi-player quests, and you should be doing those in a guild anyways. If this were a strictly PvP game, I might feel differently, but it's not. It's almost a stand alone browser game, with minimal interplay between gamers, and virtually no way to lose resources once collected. Which I like sometimes playing something without the looming threat of invasion or whatnot.
Now the price point issue and the whole Pay-to-play gripe. I loved the Settlers games. Thank you so much BlueByte for those games, I wish I could afford the entire boxed set from 1 to (what did it get up to , 10?), but I can't. Those games ran retail about 30 bucks at release and are about 10 bucks now on Gamespot and other sites. I don't think you want to charge more that that for a 7-day buff on a (mostly) free-to-play game, when the stand alone game only runs about 10 bucks, and you own it. I do not, however, have an opinion on what you end up charging. I'm sure every employee at BlueByte loves the new Bacon Bologna, and enjoys sandwiches made with Wonder Bread, Miracle Whip, Bacon Bologna and 'Murican cheese. But those sandwiches cost them money. Your 7 day buff could be buying a whole round of lovely bologna sandwiches for the entire TSO development team, and to be honest, they have been looking really, really thin.
In closing, meta-gamers, stop complaining. This new feature doesn't affect you. Buy it, or don't. Pay what is asked, and if it doesn't sell, the price will adjust until it does. If you want to continue to play for free, have fun! if you want to pay every 7 days, have fun too! Moral of this story; Play game, have fun.
And if you do have a bacon bologna sandwich it better have 'Murican cheese. Or the bandits win.

Well said Skybuscus!
Now if we could just figure out a way to get the stupid out of some of the player base...
So that works, take your free gems for a better account... I'm not mad.
The last game I played, Empire Craft (a pvp game), was a hardcore money grab by the developers. It got to the point where they had massively overpowered things for people that spent $300 at one shot. Example: Orange heroes that could wipe out a group of purple heroes, and non-payers were unlikely to even get a purple hero ever, let alone that orange. Anyway ... one day they just quit updating the game at all and let it die.
This is okay.
please make the time remaining, in hours and seconds, where we can see it, perhaps by the hover over the premium button. The only place it shows now is in the build queue, so i have to build a well or something to check remaining time. Telling me "one day" when it's really "one hour" doesn't help.....
After seeing these accounts in action, the premium loot bonus is completely unbalanced. A much lower cost and lower benefit would have been better for the game in the long term.
The flood of new loot/resources means that there is no scarcity with resources and de-values the work of building up your island and drives resource prices down. We lose the balance that this game had and made it attractive. When there's no perceived value in resources, or the efforts to attain them, then nobody is willing to expend any effort.
The premium also creates a major disparity between players. Casual players are unable to gain value using premium. You need to be acquiring loot from several high-level adventures every day in order to justify the cost of the premium. That means putting in a lot of time online at the game, and a lot of players are not interested in the higher level of commitment. Demand for lootspots from premium accounts is so high that Non-premium accounts are basically driven completely out of the Lootspot market because there is no longer any profit in it. The Non-Premium accounts become adventure-slaves for the premium accounts -- spending their time doing the dirty work while the premium accounts get rich off their efforts.
I like the idea of increased gem demand, and I understand how the recurring revenue is attractive to the developers. But when you start messing with the game and it becomes badly unbalanced and unsustainable -- then you end up with something that's not worth the players' time.
I feel that it is large nail.
I got to level 50 without this premium stuff.
Accounts that can't (or don't want to) afford premium can sell lootspots to those that can.
The average lootspot price will rise to reflect the loot that premium accounts get.
Perhqps if they would allow star coins for completed quests for premium members I might, just might change my mind and buy premium.
I am enjoying the Premium account system:) A premium token is but another commodity to be bought low and sold high. I sold off granite, bought a month's worth of tokens and then sold an add'l week token for magic beans - all without reaching for my credit card. I am assuming that at month's end, I will have enough gems to buy a token from the store or enough gold from selling the Bonus loot purchase token/s in the tO. Anyway, I am sure BB will contine with their "bread and circuses" by handing out prem tokens to all players on every quasi holiday that pops up.
I look forward to the "bread and circuses"!
