LOL. This was already the big complaint on the test server. they didn't bother to do anything about it.
Suggestions have been made to make these new searches as "bonus" searches (augmented) to the regular searches.
Similar to how geos have hidden stash or chance to find extra mined stuff.

I don't know why they asked for Feedback on the test server, when they totally ignored everything related to the Explorer Science system.
makes us feel special when we think we have a opinion in the development of our game.. i guess.
the geologists skill tree was such a fail that i have only put 1 book into one scout to complete a basic quest. but at my point in the game as well as at least a 1/3 of the players on zeus do not need help with copper, marble, or iron. (give us granite mines and we'll talk)
the explorer i did skill tree (only one scout) up and decided that i wouldnt do any others after seing him bring back coal from a rare search after spending days and mass amount of resources to make those books and his skills are maxed as far as they can be.
so at this point, all my books will be saved for my island and or general. hopefully they dont destroy those like they did the geologist.

This is the way I feel also.
just recieved my second rare search loot... 200 coal again
so i spent 15-17 days creating 21 books and a ton of resources to collect 400 coal. thanks bb
glad to know you guys dont play the game enough to know what is Rare.
sending out for a third time, dont strike out.

LOL, I read on a German forum someone saying he got a fish platter and then a solar flare on his first 2 artifact searches ! I will wait until the percentages for the various skills are clarified (I still have not been a able to find a single person who knows how the "Luck Detour" works exactly).
I must just add that although one can find the Rainbow Snow buff, on that forum they said that 80% of the buffs they find are not worth the search time, so if one only has a 20% good finds its probably better to make the explorer do other searches which over time produce better overall returns.
Right now you spent all your books to get "rare search" option and that is an isolated search mode. The books you spent to get up to that: None of the other skills really benefit the rare search other than "reduce time for all searches". To me this is such a waste of points. Sure he's now a 'multi-tasking' explorer but if you spent all your books for rare search, the other explorers could be doing the other search type. You're going to want to use rare search to make him useful right?
This becomes a buyer's remorse. You wish you hadn't wasted books into his rare search if you're going to make him do other searches instead.
As I have suggested. There are a 2 things they could have done to make it worth that end tier search mode worth it. It should have been 'augmented' with the regular treasure searches so that you can still do your regular searches and hope to get the rare item as a bonus second loot. If he brings back coal, at least you got something good from the normal search you sent him out on. Having him waste his time and bringing back coal, and spending all those books, its a real let down.
Secondly, I suggested that they adjust the loot table to have at least 1 bean or 1 guild coin in addition to the garbage. (better than nothing)
So if he brought back coal, then maybe 1bean with some coal. Loot table basically should be a range of beans, like 1bean, 5 beans, 10beans, 25 beans, 50 beans, 100 beans. This way the description of the search fits the results. You got 1 rare bit out of the search even if its not a lot.
It's very demoralizing when you spend a ton of books and did a search and got coal. Especially when the books are expensive and time consuming to make (assuming that you had speced out the geo specialists already)
i agree with ron here. i can easily reset my explorer and get my books back but is it work the 1k gems? it very well may be at this point comparing 1000 gems to 15 days of waiting game time for books. however i feel that BB will do us right (eventually) and make the % better odds as they have before in the past with adventures. however, depending on this third return in about 6 hrs i may be sitting with lordmidas and wait for the % to change.
just letting anyone that may be following this thread know that i found on my third time 50 beans.
pretty good find given the fact that is half the basic reward for Valiant tailor.
now i want to see a % chart.
however, coal should not be part of the rare search, and like ron said at the very least, add 1 bean or guild coin with the coal.
I found each talent in the top tier lackluster for the explorer, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to level 3 scouts up. Quicker, cheaper adventure searches, with more map frags (17 each on long adv searches), plus a 30% chance of having two prizes (this includes things like 1 map frag and 1 adv, or 2 sets of map frags)? Sign me up. As I attempt to get my last 5 levels of this game in, having all these adventures will be quite helpful.
I agree with just about everything said. I personally have not filled in the very top (think im 3 books shy) and have been waiting on more feedback. On a side note however, i geared my one fast explorer for adv/map frags with the occasional treasure books and just last night he came back with 17 + 17 map frags. Some could weigh the rewards vs costs but i feel that 34 map frags for an already cheaper and slightly shorter adv search is nice. Certainly got me enough for an SA and a very heafty amount of Exp just before my free premium wore off lol.
so seems everything other then the Rarrity search makes sense and is equal.
however i still do not see the point of having 200 coal be a reward without even 1 guild coin or bean.
we need a % chart, why does bb not release these with the content in forums.
It seems to only be available in German and up to others to translate into their language.
do you have a link? makes it much easier then combing cempire
So far the Buff search is super worth (I got rainbow snow, some mother trees, and recently got a flying settler, ofc some duds like Irma)
The adventure ones are pretty interesting, if you plan to build it all into adv. Also, cost is reduced on adventure searches, and a chance for double adventure makes it pretty god to invest in adv upgrades as well.
I am very happy with the Bean-A Colada Explorer - beans like 4 times this week - along with the coal of course.....LOL
Rarity search is a joke.. I have been getting stacks of 100 iron.. WTF?!??!?!? BB are you guys serious??
I have been playing this game for over 2.5 years and have spent a good amount of money on it in that time. This kind of stuff has to stop or you will lose players, plain and simple. The search does not have to bring back beans every time, but how about a nice stack of granite or some other expert level resource?? On top of that, it does not even bring you back presents for the Christmas event.
Seriously, how does it make sense that I can send out a Savage scout with 0 books invested on a "Very Long Treasure search" and it will bring back better loot than a Savage with 21 books invested on a "Rarity search"?? SERIOUSLY?!?!? Do you guys even think about these things before you waste developer time on this BS???
I am sorry if I sound angry, but frankly I am very angry. I have spent $300 on this game in the last 2+ years and I don't feel like Ubisoft or Bluebyte have the best interests of the players in mind when they do things like this. I hope that you can restore my faith, but I feel like this game is becoming a greed-fest.
Here is another example: The fairytale adventures and the extra cool items that come along with them.. fairy tale castle costs 9,950 beans.. I ran the first adventure and lost over 4000+ units.. I was rewarded with 100 beans.. wow.. seriously?? So you expect me to do that 100 times to get the beans for 1 of the new items?? Again.. not really impressed here.
I hope you guys can change your greedy ways and show us that you do care about making a game that is fun, but also fair to it's players and not just a short sighted cash grab... /sigh
My two-cents.
Jett
My explorer came back with 25 beans today. That is better, but I still think you need to change what they bring back when it is not beans. Coal and Iron are not in any way rare. Change it to Granite, titanium, salt petre, or Exotic wood logs and I will be happy.
I get the coal or iron 2/3 of the time and 25 beans only twice sice the explorer tree started. I will be turning in all the books for a 50% refund and change Explorer to a medium granite skilled seeker. Withe Rarity House, I am already changing out my Adventure seekers to medium granite treasure seekers as well.
must say that now being able to make map frags has made most of the time and resorses I put into explores worthless, market for adventures and map frags have dropped like a rock, so my production of books has stopped for now.
I've done 12 rarity searches found 25 guild coins twice everything else is junk.
I have now gotten 25 beans 4 times and 50 once as well as getting 25 guild coins another time. Still getting Iron or coal on all the other searches.
there still no link to the rewards.. ill scan cempire

the 'science' system is DESIGNED to make you choose the wrong thing then later 'revert' at a loss or 'pay' gems. The whole system is designed from the ground up to 'encourage' you to spend gems.
All the 'higher tier' choices look so much better than they are, or are just outright 'misleading' as to first tantalize one into paying a codex into said thing, then when realizing just what it does(Not), pay to have the book refunded to try a 'different' thing.
I for one would not be upset one bit if they decided to revamp teh entire science systems and make choices both whats described AND make the 'reward' worth the cost (In time and resources to train)
Sadly, that's true. I made a mistake with my jolly geologist, but I don't care. I'll live with a couple of tomes a little out of place rather than sacrificing 10 books. I get it if I want to start completely over, but just to change one thing should not carry that much of a penalty whereby you need to learn everything else over again.
