Means they were losing gem sales. Maybe if they had a REAL gem sale every once in awhile it would not be a problem. I personally am not buying anymore until we get the same sales the Germans do.
I agree with Ornias, gems for friends was one of the worst business ideas made by UBI/BB. Looking at ppl who buy gems with real money there are some that have bulk resources and there are some that do not have bulk resources. Why would real money gem buyers with bulk resources spend real money on the game when they could just spend pixels?... Now lets look at premiums- Premiums offer a great service, 50% extra loot per adv lootspot. They said that is no longer giftable, so what i took from that is that only people with gems are allowed to buy premiums for themselves. This imo is a great business move on UBI/BB's part. You want a premium? BUY GEMS...
Mysterious Boxes- Most of the boxes were poop but to take out what was the most important box, Mysterious decor box, is outrageous. Though Frozen Manors cannot be found in them, they are still quite valuable.
that 2 events ago already let it go. I'll miss trading the premiums the gems for friends part i kinda see why they are doiing it . I'm sure everyone is putting up gem pits and soon no revenue will flow to them.Quote:

Please, developers, consider adding smaller premium day purchases, like the one-day we were given, or maybe even a 3-day......seven days in a row of premium time doesn't do much to help lower level players.... they need to be "balanced" also ;)

the star coin shop offers 1 day premiums
That is only available to lvl 50s. Star coins are non-tradable items that are only attainable at level 50 by doing certain quests. Therefore mute. Players are asking for 1-day premium not at lvl 50 status. I personally would like to see the 1-day premium removed from star coin and be replaced by 7-day or 3-day instead.Quote:

I am sorry that your company may have been losing some income and hope this latest update fixes that pronto! Sometimes, late at night, I lay awake with concern over potential loss of revenue stream or failure to maximize profit to BB... Alas, this latest move will help me rest better knowing those silly, pesky, mid to low level players cannot compete with the gem buyers and mighty 50's unless they fork over some cash! Thank you and please let the beatings continue until morale improves!!

Personally I've never bought gems because I like playing on "hardmode". I've never been the type of player to use a gameshark (yeah I'm old) or cheat codes.
If I was to buy gems I'd just wait for a 2x sale and drop $500 and bam, bought everything I could want and.... and then what? I've been playing since about january 2012 I think, and I'm just level 44, because I feel there isn't much endgame, and once you have an island full of level 5 buildings what more is there to do?
I loved the idea of being able to get limited item stuff and premiums without buying gems, it meant that although i'd be slow there was nothing I couldn't do. Now I feel that I'll always be handicapped if I don't buy gems, but I'll ruin the game for myself if I do.
On the upside, BB made this move the same week GTA V came out....

You screwed up your economic plan with gem pits. I don't know if you thought the previous gem pit buyers didn't hoard or something, but I'm sure sales weren't as lively as you had hoped.
I see your greed with a healthy dose of hoard!
And don't give us lame excuses. If you wanted to prevent fraud, which you really don't care about, gem packs would be a tradeable item like premium tokens. But they are not, hence you wanted an easy out if things went wrong.
Well now, i started this thread and didn't say a thing! and look at what i see today?
Disappointing.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Trolls, Ragers, and other mean sort, please listen.
1. Premium trading has to be changed because of pricing. On Zeus Trading, its around 8-9K coins, for around 7 days worth. I do not see the full picture, however it is easy to guess that that price is below or above what they planned for, and as a result, the game is unbalanced. (that doesn't mean that the BB's are money pigs, it just means that it is hurting the game)
2. Gems for Friends is being removed because of "Pushing". Pushing is another account that you personally control, and you send resources, gems ect to your main account. This is cheating, and because there are too many cheaters they are removing it. (Thats right, it isn't the BB's fault, its yours)
3. The Mystery Boxes are being removed to be reworked. They will be back my friends, with better (or worse) rewards.
Now please listen, i set up this discussion to talk about it, not everyone is raging, however a few of you are, please stop and try to think about this subject from a better angle.

TBH, I'm just tired of the Lucy and Charlie syndrome. One of these times, I'm gonna punch Lucy in the face.
Along with many others, we continually throw suggestions and criticisms on the Test server. They keep dropping crap in our laps. There is only ONE time I can note where they actually listened and that was when they upped the Gold Tower output and Mag Residence pop. But we tell them these events aren't fun and some features are really terrible, but they think they know better. Maybe its a UK thing, I dunno.
But with the gem for friends and prem tokens, this is/was a good thing. Balance? Really? What are we balancing for? The computer doesn't care how badly I beat them down or how quickly. And don't say its for pvp... pvp can be controlled with limits on what you bring to a battleground or how often you can participate. And people have already stocked up on stuff, it just a matter of fleecing the populace for another week. 2900 for a gem pack... really??
My observation is that since these features were released, the my server got more active. That's a good thing... some new players, some old faces. Its nice to be able to find resources from people other than just greedy re-sellers. Its nice to be able to sell a loot spot. Its nice to see people talking in global. This has helped bring back some participation on the server.
And now Lucy is taking it away because they didn't think it through all the way. So whatever, take the ball away again. Eventually, Charlie is gonna fight back...
Sidenote:
If you want to fix your income problem.
1) Give me something I can't get without paying cash for it. Like maybe a 300 General, 10$, limt 5. And I mean 10$, not gems.
or
2) Up the limits on the limited items. Why prevent yourself from making more cash via gems. I'm pretty sure if I could buy 5 vets, id have 5 vets. Or if I could buy more recyclers, I would. Or whatever. Limits may create a mythical balance, but it sure stings your pocket book more.

But how many gems could a multi accounter REALLY push if he were not buying gems.... 1 2 maybe 3 gems packs? thats not enough to make significant difference.
