Collectible Items – just did Test Server on them
I have never been on the Test Server before today, so I don’t know where I am supposed to post comments. I found a Forum archive for comments but that seemed outdated.
I had to magnify the screen to see the Collectibles. I tried going through my island, but I kept forgetting where I had been. I found 9 of 14 then gave up. I cannot check my whole island on high magnification.
My request is this – please let players restrict where the collectibles appear. Let them post a marker on their island, knowing when they appear, they will be within a given range of that marker, not scattered over the whole island. That would be fun. Then I can place that marker where I have much open space and will check it each time I log in. I won’t check my whole island for them. Too hard. But I will gladly check a fifth of my island each time I log in, in a fifth I designated with a marker.
To ease programming, you could allow a player to choose one of five regions into which the Collectibles will appear. Default is they cover the whole island.
I note the below comment. My point is if players are like me, they won’t search for the Collectibles. It is too hard to do with a magnified entire island. They will if they can choose one of five regions in which the Collectibles will appear.
If I were younger, I could see the Collectibles on a smaller screen. That eyesight left me years ago.
10-6-13 I add this: When I logged on 30 minutes ago, global chat was discussing difficulty finding collectibles. I noted my difficulty. Participants gave me suggestions. Notably one said pretend to build a flowerbed to light up the Island. Instead of building, I clicked to move a flowerbed. The entire map lit up and the trees disappeared. I had the screen magnified. I found two more.
So with 12 collectibles available, I found 5 which were in open spaces on my island, and 2 by clicking to move a flowerbed and magnifying the screen while slowly checking it. All that time to find 7 of 12.
I don't want to anger BB, so humbly I ask again please let players designate regions in which the collectibles appear. At least please let us designate they appear in one of three regions I can closely check a third of my Island. It is very cumbersome to closely check the whole island. I enjoy the feature, and appreciate having it but, but cannot use it fully. That is frustrating.
