It's most likely to prevent the zone map errors.
I've moved flower beds really fast before a bunch of them at a time. And it has created zone map error crashes. On both times that I've had map errors it related to me moving flower beds rapidly.
But I do find the 60 seconds timer rather annoying. They should reduce it to 10 seconds.
My normal pace for moving buildings (test server set up after wipe) is about 5 secs between moves and I never had a zone map error from it.
I suspect the 10 secs RonEmpire suggests is more than enough.
I'm not a fan of the 60 second timer either. I agree 5 or 10 sec should be more than enough. Part of the fun of this game is being able to design your city any way you want to. The timer makes it a much more difficult and clumsy process.
This move restriction is one of the most assinine things BB has done to date. Why is it that for every really cool thing BB does, they do 7 horrible ones? I've submitted a ticket reporting an error in the move funtion and will continue to do so until it changes back or someone responds and fully explains why this was done.
As far as the error prevention theory posted earlier..... I get zone init failed errors for all kinds of reasons: clicking on my star menu, opening my quest log, trying to visit another island, clicking on my build menu, sending out my geo, etc, etc ad infinitum. We won't even begin to talk about the horriffic lag and or freezing that occurs multiple times a day.
It's a testament to my loyalty that I continue to play this game in spite of all the time I have to spend refreshing/relogging on every single day. And now I have to wait a full minute between moves!!!!!! Thanks BB, for "improving" the move function. Once again you've zeroed in on a major problem that needed to be addressed.
the timer is infuriating! why a full minute?! some of us have pretty full islands that need to move many buildings (at very high cost, by the way) to make room for the new buildings. 5 secs is more than enough of a delay IMHO
It's to limit the stress on the server. I'd rather have the 1 minute wait then having the server crash all the time when the Test server gotten the demo buffs.
60 secs seems a bit extreme.
i don't mind the 60 seconds... I wanna know why we can't move the improved storehouse!?
Because they are filled with stuff and are too heavy to move. :)
lol
Well I gotta pipe in here, that timer really is annoying as heck. a 10 second or 15 second might be ok, but 1 min really seems excessive.
I heartily agree with RonEmpire. 60 seconds is far too long. As a player who works a full-time job, I have a very limited time to play, and having to wait 60 seconds between building moves is highly irritating and extremely restrictive. It really slows down what I can do with my island, especially since I've been doing a lot of streamlining and rearranging recently to improve production chains while trying to reclaim a few building licenses for other, newer production chains.
Please, shorten that timer!
I say zone crash errors for everyone my treat
well we used to be able to move decorations onto bushes to remove them - now we can't do that - so while they are making the changes to be able to blow up mountains I am hoping they also consider permanent removal of bushes too - those little spaces make a HUGE difference on full islands
This is the main reason why I play this game, so I can design the city the way I want it to be/look.
60 seconds is a long time, especially if people are doing 50-100 moves (that's like 1-2 hours spent waiting, not including screw ups), which is a realistic number considering how small the island is, and how there isn't a "storage" for our buildings.
The latest test on the test server has the timer removed.
This may ultimately go away.
How about the fact that for some reason with the Christmas event update you cannot move a building at all?
Yea this is sad and they probably wont fix it any time soon.. game is kinda unplayable when you cant move stone or marble buildings to deposits. means we have to destroy lvl 2 or higher buildings and rebuild them or rely on trades... no thx.
Sadly like all companies, they'll be to lazy to get it fix or whatever reason, anytime soon. it'll take them a week or more instead of the 24hrs that it should only take.
The problem is more than just moving buildings. I'm experiencing a locked zone from just placing too many buildings from the misc star menu and also deleting a building at the same time.
It locked me out. 3 hours later I got back in and noticed the buildings I tried to delete were there. One building was deleted but it was NOT back in my star menu. And the buildings I tried to place in those deleted areas are totally missing from my star menu. Needless to say, I loss 5 frozen manor and 1 noble (at least. possibly pirate residences too since I was placing them else where on the map).
I got locked out again, because I tried to place a frozen manor into the empty spot. That area of the map must be bugged right now causing my zone lock out.
This has nothing to do with moving buildings. The effects seem to be the same as deleting a bunch of star menu buildings and placing star menu buildings over the area you deleted.
Just FYI, guys, the move building feature will be re-enabled with tomorrow's maintenance.
Great news!
i got locked out deleting a building then then tryen to place 1 from my star. so more then likely i just lost my frozen manor and a noble thx bb good job
i wouldnt worry about ur buildings- just getting back into game, if u happen to lose the buildings just send in a ticket about it but ur more then likely to still have them (ive had the same thing happen to me several times and never lost a building). Good luck
