I would like to nominate, Greek_Spartan.
I nominate and fully support Runemaker as CL.
I would like to nominate: Richard_Cranium (not only for the use of eloquent and well articulated language, but for his kindness and knowledge base in regards to the game), Khamuul (he is a well of information in regards to this game and more than helpful), Greek_Spartan (one of the most helpful people in the game and very knowledgeable) and last but most certainly not least AngelBuns (she has more patience than most and is an excellent leader)
Dear Nomination Committee:
I would like to nominate our Guild Leader, Deano1978 as a Community Leader for our Ares Server. I have to say that since I have been on TSO, I have not found a more interactive, fair, generous and respectable group of people, with who's help, I would not have made it to the level that I am at, would have probably gotten frustrated, and then bored and had left the game. The group has been cultivated by Deano1978 and another founder and they have built a team of Cabinet members that truly promotes camaraderie and growth through giving. On the flip-side of that coin, there are a few very fair rules where we are, and at times, those rules must be enforced. Deano1978 does an excellent job of providing justice by allowing forgiveness, but not allowing abuse. These are traits that has made him a grand leader of OUR community and in closing, believe that his contributions to the global server community would be well accepted and appreciated.
Submitted respectfully,
MayorofAtlantis
I nominate Greek_Spartan, Khamuul, and Runemaker. Good luck.
my vote goes to Deano1978, Greek_Sparten, and Khammul
my vote also goes to Deano1978
I'd vote for Khamuul, Richard_Cranium, Yarrah, and Runemaker
Hello all
I nominate Deano1978 as community leader
My nomination for community leader is the AngelsBun. She display the traits needed for a CL, high level, active player and remains consistent active player, great understanding and knowledge of the game and respect she gives and has by us community members. Thanks
The nominations are getting interesting!! Good luck to everyone and I am excited to get the opportunity to work with you all.
I nominate Vonreighard on Ares from the Roundtable guild. I would also like to nominate Emberleigh - also on Ares.
My nomination for community leader is Deano1978. Deano has a lot of the traits needed for a good community leader; Guild Leader (ISLES), high level (50), an active everyday player, good sense of humor, knows a lot about the game, and always willing to go the extra mile to help others. An all around really nice guy, one that I'm happy to say is my Friend.
I will humbly accept the nomination, and go on to say that Greek_Spartan, Remei, Khamuul, c0nquistador, and Richard_Cranium deserve serious consideration.
Now on to my official application;
What is the primary server you play on? Zeus or Ares?
Ares.
How have you contributed to the community? Please give examples.
The Help tab is a wonderful place. I tend to dwell there when on-line and attempt to provide the support and guidance that newer players need. I remain firmly in the "teach a man to fish" camp. Rather than just tell someone to buff their cutters, I'll explain what the quest intends along with better, longer term solutions.
What is the first thing you want to do as a CL?
Do some very mild bragging... perhaps a private little strut? =)
The second thing would be to collect those niggling little issues that have bothered us for so long and seek answers.
Do you have any ideas to improve the community? (events, contests, etc.)
There are a few percolating around in my head. I have a fondness for educational trivia and challenges.
What is the community's top requested feature for TSO?
An expansion of the combat system.
What has prepared you to be a community leader for The Settlers Online?
Life experience, job responsibilities and a similar position, though in a smaller game.
Runemaker has been the most consistently helpful since before anything about CL's was mentioned. She has also shown the wisdom of private
replies so certain things are kept quiet.
I would like to add that when you make your choice, please ask the player what time of day they play the most, and let that guide your choices, as well, as we need a CL for day play, eve play and night play...not all at once :) Hope it's ok that I added that.
My list
- Runemaker
- AngelBuns
- Khamuul
- Richard_Cranium
- Greek_Spartan
the oscars do a list where they take all the 1st place and give them 1 vote then they take all the 2nd place and give them .5 votes and so on down; so, that would give a person that is 2nd place on a lot of lists a chance against someone w/ more 1st place but not as many votes in total
just a thought
I would like to nominate Richard_Cranium, he is fair, full of excellent advise, and a sage wit.
Richard_Cranium
AngelBuns
Greek_Spartan
Khammul
I'd like to nominate Richard_Cranium too.
I also would like to add Richard_Cranium to my nomination list as he is also an excellent fit to the position despite his concerns and doubts about the idea of Cl's in general in the flow of the game! That to me tells me he is perfect for the job!!
I nominate Asiastring, she is one very smart person, and is so helpful to everyone. She makes people so glad they came into the game. She has a vast knowledge of the game and tries to make sure everyone has a good time and is able to advance.
If they dont vote from ares how do we know they are an ares player though? just trying to understand thats all
My vote goes to Runemaker
I will try to post this again
Runemaker
Greek_Spartan
Khamuul
I nominate KirkMac. He is a wealth of information and has the personality to work with the general population within the game.
As an update to the "Have the legal capacity to sign a valid Non Disclosure Agreement" in our Requirements Section. A Non Disclosure Agreement is a legal document between Ubisoft and the player stating that if any secret, private or sensitive information is disclosed to the player about the game or the company, the player will not share it with anyone. We have been informed that this requires the player to be 18 or older in order to sign it. If you are younger than 18, having a parent or guardian sign on your behalf will not suffice. I do apologize for any changes this makes with the nomination process.
Thank you to everyone who has nominated me and to everyone else who has been asking me when I am posting my application.
What is the primary server you play on?
My primary server is Ares (Realm 2). I also maintain an account on the Test Server.
How have you contributed to the community?
I have been an active player for the past 12 months. As such, I have spent much of my free time in game monitoring and providing assistance in the Help Channel. I spend time in Global-1, although I am there more commonly at off-peak times due to the peak in Help volume at similar times. In addition, I am also active on the test server, working on ideas that have the potential to someday transition to our server. As both a guild officer and as someone in the help channel, I have helped people gain a greater understanding of the game, to help supply them with what they need to become better players and community members. While I would not say that I constantly post to the forum, I do attempt to make solid contributions there as well.
What is the first thing you want to do as a CL?
I feel the best thing that I can do first is use the information available to me in this new role to attempt to convey the problems and ideas our server sees as important. Understanding what is planned for the server and how our needs and wants are being addressed is something that all the players seem to desire, even if they only have a specific desire in mind. It would even be helpful to determine if other servers are seeing similar problems and share what we can to make the players' desires communicated with the responsible designers.
Do you have any ideas to improve the community?
The best way to improve a community is to bring people together within it. The trivia games are good method, but the specific time reduces the accessibility to many active players. While we are the designated US Server, sharing with other great countries with the same time zones, the people and game-flow changes throughout the day and night. Activities should vary more to include more of the entire community, not just the prime time players. Guilds are an important part of the community, and we should be recognizing them as a resource for players. Independent players are just as important a part and need to know that the game is meant to be enjoyed by them as well.
What is the community's top requested feature for TSO?
Anyone who has played for any length of time or visited the forum more than once will pick up the perpetual issues of Player vs. Player combat and the lack of island space, followed the general issue of improving the control over the creation and delegation of troops. However, in all honesty, these issues are not what will drive away people who are already playing the game. More than all of these, the most common thing requested by the community is information. The lack of clear information is likely one of the most frustrating things for the players, whether it be a reason for a change in game functionality, a clear message of etiquette from the moderators, or a timeline for changes already advertised. The failure of communication has already been seen in the initial implementation of the Community Leader/Liaison program, which was much more divisive than our game requests.
What has prepared you to be a community leader for The Settlers Online?
Besides what I have already mentioned above, I would start with that I have over twenty years of experience playing MMORPG’s. I have served in leadership positions for large guild-equivalent groups in several games. In addition, one of my degrees is in computers, and have worked previously in teaching computers and basic coding, as well as tutoring in a variety of math/science subjects. I also have a degree in business, which gives me a different perspective of the economy aspects of the game as well as some of the realities of balancing business and coding issue.
Can I suggest that the moderators remove the CL applications from the nominations thread, and make it a locked & sticky thread? It would make it easier to everyone to read them and make them separate from the discussion over nominations.
okie so ill vote... Runemaker , AngelBuns , Greek_Spartan ...good luck
I nominate Runemaker *hugs*
I would like to nominate Datafox :)
Thank you BB_Rawren. I thought that was the case, but wanted to make sure. I know a few of our nominees are a bit younger than 18, but I also believe they will be turning 18 within the next few months (if not sooner). Since I consider them viable candidates for the CL position, I am hoping that because they are so close to that threshold, it will still be possible for them to apply for the position. Wondering whether or not they should message you directly in this regard. I realize it has nothing at all to do with me, since I am def way over the age of 18 and not submitting an application, but was just wondering your thoughts in regard to something like this. Especially because they are so close to reaching the age requirements.
Raredstorm-definetly
I nominate Yarrah! She will get my vote every time.
