Aurboth, Angelbuns, Greek_Spartan for CL :)
I nominate Runemaker :-)
Greek_Spartan for CL
I nominate Yarrah. Good Luck People!
My 2 Cents. I'm not voting or nominating anyone, I will leave that for the BBs to choose who is best for the position.
Khamuul (hope i'm spelling that right) is by far the most helpful and respectful person on the list imo. Greek_Spartan is also very respectful and helps quite a bit. I don't know a lot of the others that well aside from seeing their names in global chat often. If Richard_Cranium is elected/chosen can we please make him change his name. It is offensive since we can all read between the lines as to what that name really means and If I said it I would likely get chatbanned.
The 500 gems you give, call it a gift or payment, it is compensation and if you intend to keep doing that we all should be informed of that. I was disappointed that didn't come up anywhere until I read this forum. And as far as a contract, every state varies at what age a person can legally enter into a contract. But most games don't have a good legal department I assume since the Terms of Service agreement (a contract) often fails to ask what age the person is who is agreeing to it but expects them to abide by it. Not like any of us would read it anyway, lol.
Good Luck to those who want this ceremonial position and hope there are no hard feelings to those who aren't the chosen ones. I hope TSO realizes what they are doing by "choosing" who the leaders will and won't be. Happy gaming everyone!!
500 gems a month, whatever is a pittance compared to the time these people spend
Well, it took me so long to get this darn thing done that I totally forgot about the maintenance and didn't even get to log on Ares, Wednesday :p
I'm sure I'll live. Just glad it's finally all done. I had to put this list in a spreadsheet because it was becoming too difficult to add numbers and be sure I had them all in there correctly. The spreadsheet will make it a lot easier for you to see how things are progressing.
This image is current as of this post but as more nominations come in the charts will change so keep checking the link to the Google Spreadsheet below, you can also click the chart to get to the same spreadsheet.
I've included the applicant's posts and will eventually add some of the player comments about them that have been posted here. Also since all applicant's have their own tab it would be possible to allow only that person to edit the tab. If you'd like that option just let me know and I'll add your name to the list of people who are allowed to edit. (by the way I'd be the only other person on that list)
I've also made it so anyone can add comments there but this doesn't mean that people can submit new applications and nominations on this spreadsheet. You will still need to submit them here.

Pie Charts, Full list and Nominee Applications
I have most of these nominees squelched.
nominate Khamuul, Greek_Spartan and Yarrah
Datafox!
I nominate Deano1978 and Greek_Spartan... both would make great leaders imho
Khamuul all the way
id like 2 nominate Greek_Spartan, Khamuul and Morganthejoker thanks
Nice job Aquila :)
I nominate MorgantheJoker. I cannot imagine a more helpful or knowledgeable leader to place your faith in. As guild leader he is unsurpassed and I believe you would find the same as a CL for our server.
Aquila, the pie chart is pretty to look at but I'm confused as to why nominations are being tabulated.
Does how often a person nominated affect the CL selection process? I thought a person has to be nominated only once and then it's up to the potential candidate to apply to get the process rolling. Can you please clarify? Thank you.
That is correct - this is not a system of voting. However, it's helpful for our community management team to see how many players nominated a candidate when we're determining who to select as CL. After all, the candidate is meant to be a representative of the community!
You are essentially correct. Votes don't make any difference whatsoever, since BBs are choosing the CLs and have made it quite clear that its not a popularity contest. Aquila is basically tabulating the information for fun, and I think people just like the idea of knowing the community is supporting their decision to run as CL. Course, opposite may hold true for those without so many "votes", but for the most part I think it is more affirming for the candidates than anything else. :)
I would nominate myself and Volunteer for the Post of Community Leader. :)
What is the primary server you play on? Ares?
How have you contributed to the community? I am a Senor administrator for one of the largest guilds on the server. TNT. I pop in and answer questions in the help Tab from time to time. Out entire guild is based upon the idea of helping one another. I've brought up issues from members to the BB staff on occasions. I have been doing this for the last 10 months. March will be my 1 year anniversary of playing the game.
What is the first thing you want to do as a CL: Let everyone know that their legitimate problems /issues would be heard and responded to. The prevailing attitude is that players are ignored. I would love to change this attitude.
Do you have any ideas to improve the community? yes, 1) friends/ guild mates who visit your island can click on collectibles. I think you should get one per collectible you find while your friend/ guild mate gets the full allotment. This will increase visits to other islands and contribute to interplay between players and increase the fun!
What is the community's top requested feature for TSO? The science package for Generals has not been released yet, nor has the program to clear up unused space on islands. These are the features I've heard constantly people asking for. *points outside to see the flaming torches and pitch forks outside my Castle walls as evidence.*
What has prepared you to be a community leader for The Settlers Online? I work daily as a volunteer real life. Im trained in leadership and how to deal with various situations within the infrastructure I am given to work in. I've played the game with love for almost a year now. Being an Admin/ Senor Admin in one of the largest guilds on Ares have given me daily experience in helping people and problem solving, as well as conflict resolution.
Yup I'm pretty much just doing this because I thought it would be a fun way for everyone to see how things were progressing. It has the bonus side effect that it will allow BB to concentrate on getting to know the applicants and also alert them as to who they may want to contact if they haven't applied yet.
Usually when I come up with stuff like this it's because I wanted to see a chart or a list myself, to get a better idea of how things are going. I always think that if I though that would make my own experience in the game more fun or better, then why not share that with everyone on the server. :)
I'll be updating it again, probably at the end of the day. Every time I update the list I'll make a post so you guys can be alerted if you're using the "Subscribe to this Thread" in the "Thread Tools" above.
Greek_Spartan, Richard_Cranium, or Khamuul
I nominate Aurboth and AngelBuns.
I would like to nominate Khamuul and Richard_Cranium and Greek_Spartan
This is a hard choice in certain aspects as there are a lot of qualified people but we are limited to three.
I have known these three people for a LONG time and they conduct themselves with honor and are very helpful I worked with them on the HELP tab for months. They are knowledgeable about the game and the kind of people I would be proud to have representing the community.
I nominate Greek_Spartan, Angelbuns
you do know that even though there will only be three nominees picked you can vote for as many as you like =P LOL
I would like to nominate Greek_Spartan. He is already doing the job unofficially and has a great attitude. I have dealt with him regarding more than one issue and like the way he handled everything. I would say he would make a great addition to the team, but he is already one and should receive the recognition for it :D
Nathan_Luo is also a person I would recommend as a high asset to the team. Like Greek_Spartan, Nathan_Luo is always there to lend a helping hand, give advice, explain the different nuances of the game. I have also had the pleasure and great experience of having him as a leader in our guild and thus know first hand that he is someone who cares about the other person, and goes out of his way to provide assistance, even if it is just in referring a person to a more appropriate contact. He is highly knowledgeable of the game and many of the people playing it, even if they are not in our guild. He is fair and always willing to give a person the helping hand they need if he is able to.
I would appreciate consideration as a Community Leader; I strongly support what the community leaders are all about and would love to be of assistance in this manner.
What is the primary server you play on? Zeus or Ares?
Ares
How have you contributed to the community? Please give examples.
I am extremely involved on a daily basis in trade chat, offering TO deals, and in the loot spot community, selling and buying. I also enjoy helping new players, reaching out to them, offering them guild involvement, answering questions and providing resources and advice. I am extremely active in the guild I serve in and am a promoted leader in it. I also enjoy positive communication and like to help keep trade chat peaceable and direct discussions back toward trade and civility! I also try to submit regular suggestions, especially during events, and give feedback after events to help improve game play. I love the game, plan to be around for a long time, and would love to find ways to be more involved - community leadership might just be that opportunity.
What is the first thing you want to do as a CL?
Introduce rubber duckies as a tradeable item. However, as that might be a "long term" goal, my first interactions as a CL would be to diversify the chat rooms I'm involved in to get a better feel for what everyone needs and wants from the game! Communication is key, and being seen is key to sparking communication. I love the idea of community leaders and wish a lot more programs, games and providers of any product/service would consider getting actual consumers involved in giving feedback and interfacing with their target audiences!
Do you have any ideas to improve the community? (events, contests, etc.)
I have LOTS of ideas to improve the community. I love the community already - I'm not applying because I think what we have is broken. I love what the game is and have vision for what the game could become. Not an event goes by that I don't think, "Huh, we probably could have added this! We could have tweaked this! I wonder if it would have gone better if we had applied this? Maybe next year we can do this!" I'm also creative when it comes to contests and opportunities. Our guild has everything from "player of the month" to daily buff days where a different player is targeted to receive surprise random buffs all day long. We also have a guild community pot during events (players who get their pumpkins early and buy everything they want quick can then help lower level players!) and we do the same in-guild with guild coins every time the market items are changed out. I'm an organizer and a brainstormer, which I daresay are great values for a community leader!
What is the community's top requested feature for TSO?
Great question. As our server ages (more and more upper level players), more and more requests are being made to help spice up the game (let's to player verse player! we need more levels! we need new items for level 50 players!) and let advanced players continue growing (more island space, items that make more of the map usable like floating residences, buildings that help you eliminate smaller ones like friaries). I feel all of these improvements, some already realized and many more in the works, help keep upper level players from quitting (aids in player retentions) yet also helps give newer players assurance that there's always something new to shoot for in Settler's!
What has prepared you to be a community leader for The Settlers Online?
I am a leader in real life. It's a passion of mine from an early age. I became an Eagle Scout, started a mentoring program for our 200+ volunteers at my local zoo which I now teach annually, and work as a new employee trainer at a private security firm (my career). I have learned valuable skills along the way about communication, empathy, creativity, commitment and how to pull people together with inspiration and perspiration. Teamwork makes everything better and I've been honored to lead dozens of teams in all aspects of life over the years. Thanks for your consideration - chosen or not, I know all nominees will continue with their regular involvement in the game, playing and improving as we go!
As a member of UNITY, I am partial to Nathan_Luo. He has always given me helpful advice, been supportive in my endeavors and makes playing the game exciting. He has instituted new ideas into our guild and encourages player-to-player interaction. He will not only tell me the answers to my questions, but informs me where I can find the answers, too.
I also recommend Greek_Spartan for he has always had answers for me when Nathan is not around.
I nominate Nathan_Luo. Greek_Spartan is also an excellent choice.
I nominate MorganTheJoker for Community Leader.
I nominate Greek_spartan and morganthejoker both have played this game with me for a while and i respect both of there ability's to lead by example
I nominate Deano1978
I nominate Deano1978 as Community Leader. He gives 100% to this game; has great knowledge of how to play and gives excellent advice when asked.
I vote for Deano1978, MorganTheJoker, Khamuul and Greek_Spartan
I vote for MorganTheJoker
I vote for MorganTheJoker
I nominate Morganthejoker, I have played this game with him for a while and I admire and respect him for his ability to lead, and his great feelings towards the members of our Guild. He´s such a great person and player and I think he deserves to be nominated :D
My biggest issue with the current CL's was that we didnt know them in any of the tabs and I find this to be true for several of the new nominations therefore I cast my nominations as follows:
Richard_Cranium: He is always available and well known in all 3 tabs and always willing to help out
Aurboth: He is in help tab more often than not, posts with new ideas in forums often, and also plays on test server
Both of them are able and willing to help out the community and have the legal capacity to sign the NDA
