Dissapearing / Missing population

Yesterday i had 4190 pop -- i know because was looking to build a residence to increase it (because i had built too many wells so they had no workers).... this morning i log in and there are 178 missing.... just gone.. I haven't run any adventures in 2 days. ?? AND its not creating people in the mayor's house. Screenshot shows - next settler in " - minutes" ???? ?? please fix this asap.

As noted in the patch notes, very discretely, they have implemented a fix to the negative working population bug. Please read here for details.

I'm having the same issue as Ciara.. Missing over 300 population all of a sudden. No idea how to staff new mines to keep buildings running, and I just started premium yesterday trying to hit my next level. Fix quick please!!!!!!!!

Sorry to reply to my own thread, but an easy fix on the game side would be to give everyone some settlers, as with the daily log in bonus. That way it would help people refill their population and prevent people from trying to make their own refills or be delayed in making buildings. No one really chose to have that bug, unlike other potential exploits, so many feel they are being penalized for being affected by it.

It is hard to beleive that this was a fix?

"Improvements related to negative amount of working settlers"

The good news is that the negative settlers population that some have been experiencing will be fixed. Every account's population will be recalculated and will now display the correct amount of settlers.

However, after the calculations, you might notice that you appear to have "lost" some settlers or are above your current population limit. In the past, the population limitations were ignored in some cases and players had too many settlers in their settlements. This maintenance has corrected that issue, meaning that although your population might show as 3000 settlers, you only have the space for 2000. In this case, if you try to build something, you would not have an employee available to make the goods.

There are two workarounds for this issue. Neither are ideal, but they are available:
1. Build or upgrade your residences to increase your population limit.
2. Decrease the amount of settlers you have by "losing" troops during adventures.

i am still losing peeps - 2 more since i started the thread.... and i've now logged out as a test .... i also built a res to see if it kicked creating settlers in gear - nope. (and more disturbing is just losing 178 plus for no reason)

I had to buy 10k copper ore and 5k iron ore to get my island working again this morning - since no settlers would work the mines.

Based on your screen shot, you have 178 more settlers than space in your houses.
The working settler count has been under reported for a while. These undocumented workers allowed us to temporarily use more than our population limit. As the government caught on and required all settlers to register, it is sending people over the population cap. See psaltery's previous post for a link to the issue and how to adjust for the registration of these immigrants.

There is another problem people are seeing, which is that they appear to no longer be getting new settlers. This is because the population listed is the sum of the troops, workers, and idle units. However, with the previous negative population bug, you may have fewer people on your island than is actually shown. However, there is no field for people to see the actual number. Thus, it appears that no new settlers are being added, and this continues until your actual amount (hidden) catches up with the listed amount. This seems to correct itself over time, but can be quickly resolved by adding settlers from your star menu. I can't say what happens if you are over your population cap already, as there is no way to see if the settlers resume being made; however, this has been effective for people who are below their cap.

If over the cap, it works as it previously did. No new pop added until u either add residence or kill troops.

Logged in today at 7620/8050, after the devs "fixed" the negative pop bug. I was unable to get new pop. After 30 minutes I was also unable to get new pop. Tried logging out and back in... adding bread people... all for naught. I sent in my ticket. Maybe they'll give us a female worker so the population will get fixed the old fashion way?

Looks like most people dont read or scan patch notes/future patch notes at all. I made sure i was well under my max pop last night and have 0 problems today.

After today's maintenance many problems I can see in the game, first the population is not increasing, its on 0, even I added some settlers, but its the same, plzz solve this problem

I've noticed that for the past day or so, I've received no new settlers. The overview section says that a new settler will be produced in x minutes, but when that time comes, I do not receive a new settler.

I'm nowhere near my current population. Ideas? Thanks!

I have no settle today so I add 40 settler to my Meyrs house and it dissappear. What do I need to do.

I also just added 25 settlers from my Star menu and my available settlers did not rise above "0"

This is a ridiculous situation that screws up island production. It was NOT caused by players. The fix doesn't fix it. We players have to fix it.

I have the same issue: no more population generated and no more settlers in my star menu from quests or provision house. After reading the post http://forum.thesettlersonline.net/t...lation-changes, I understand this might happen if my island was overpopulated. But it is not the case, I still have plenty of space for settlers, before and after the last game update.

Any other ideas?

I am having the same issues, I went to bed having 1 BL and 67 Settlers and now it say I have 3 BL and 0 Settlers, if you could look into this I would greatly appreciate the help!

This is a ridiculous fix. Population was already growing way to slowly, I'm barely able to do an adventure a week.

It might be hours, it might be days, it could even be months, and now I can't build new mines and have their resources, so why should I keep playing? The economy will go to crap as existing mines run out, can't build more swords, etc. I guess the only saving grace is that you could build settlers as that chain won't be effected by this, but without a clue to how many settlers I need to provide.

Oh fun, I log out, and log back in, and now I have one less settlers, went from 1065 to 1064. How do I know you didn't really take population that I should have had all along?

It took close to 100 settlers to get back one top of things. Luckily I've been saving up for an adventure, but still, that's over a day of production that has been lost. Not to say of all the time it took me to research this issue. And the login message doesn't even talk about it either!

Ugh. Guess I won't be so avid a player if this is how BB handles these issues.

...you had received "extra population" due to bugs in the past - here they took it away and you whine about them righting the wrong? Get real. Anyways in a few weeks/months ect it will be 1-2k pop a day you get from bread.

add more settlers (assuming you have room) until the negative pool (invisible to you - but its what you "owe" due to past accounting mistakes) the server is diminished to zero.

bother to read all the text posted in various places by BBs before complaining and wanting spoon fed.

I was going to buy a few gems w/ $$, and this happens. At least now I have a good excuse to stop wasting my time and not waste any money. This patch cost them money.

Technically, the players caused the problem by using more people than their infrastructure allows (because the developers let them). I went from -1000 workers to +450 so that is a major flip of 1500 troops taken out of my army. If this happened 3 weeks ago, with my 3300 population cap, it would be severely crippling.

It was good while it lasted, but now it actually functions as designed.

We have manors and floaters and magnificent residences and pirate residences now ... so it's not as harsh as it would have been in the noble / tower days.

Actually, No. it's a poor excuse.

The working settler bug that was counting down and going into the negative was adding population limit. Now that they took the bug away, you are complaining about it because it worked in your favor.

You won't gain settlers if your settler count is already over your population limit. They warned you that they were going to fix this issue, so you had plenty of time to kill troops off before they fixed it.

ya i just noticed that - i have to eat crow :) on that ....

but here's the thing -- even given that (as it wasn't over yesterday)... i have 175 buildings - and 186 workers - so none of my buildings should be lacking a worker.

(logging in several hours later did not fix the issue by the way).

sadly i cant adv until they fix the losing troops in a void on adv's bug.... i can't buy residence (bought the 1 guild floating i could afford) and have no bl to build more standard res... so basically their 'fix' has messed my island up maybe beyond repair.. if they only way to fix it is to wait for the adv to be fixed - then i can't produce any ore from mines (as they have no people) and i cant run many of my essential buildings without ore....

If you have Recycling plants, watermills, deep wells or silos, they require a worker as well. so remember that.

Essentially, what was happening is that, in effect, ghosts were running your buildings. For some people, there were so many ghosts, it was spilling over into the unemployed people and being made into soldiers. When the patch dispelled the ghosts, it kept the buildings that were working running by creating imaginary settlers that the game is slowly replacing, or can be replaced faster using created population from the provision house.

Problem for me is my buildings stopped producing. They didn't put in imaginary settlers. All my coal production stopped until over time the population rebuilt. At no time was I ever over population. Ever! I'm still confused why this affected me based on BB's posts. But it did.

The fix was broken. They should have just filled in the ghosts with real settlers and let attrition over time take care of things, not delete the settlers I had working in buildings which in turn killed my production chains.
