Although this seems "nice", I'd rather just concentrate on the regular quests. Also, I'm not so obsessive that I feel I have to complete every quest given if it costs too much and/or doesn't reward that much for what I put in. I think the achievements system will be pretty much the same. It sounds like something I will look at every now and then. I don't think it will affect my gameplay at all, though, unless I see something really worth doing.
While I like that you can earn some gems through the achievement system, and other rewards, I think there needs to be more rewards, the reward part seems rather non existent for certain achievement categories.
What we need is an achievement system for the developers! Until they fix the many bugs and inequities in the present system, we don't really need any more "bright ideas". I have been waiting over 6 months for them to find troops that the system lost. Althought they tried to make up for it, (and I thank them) it doesnt change the fact that trying to get enough pop for the Big adventures is not possible when you run out of room on the island.
What about this new Achievement quest for BB -> Increase your $ revenue with less and less active players.
Here's a thought ...
Instead of saying, "Hey, check out the latest group of new functions we developed that nobody asked for!" Why don't you try asking, "What would you all like to see next?" And then proving you can listen by delivering whatever the most people scream for.
Or if the top vote-getter is too hard to do "quickly" (however that's determined), then tell us & do the 2nd best thing.
I know I've been coming here simply to kill time for a year or so, but that point was really driven home when your 3x gem sale didn't cause any reaction on my part. Generally, I bought gems to shorten the time to accomplish goals. But as my sole goal now is simply to piss away an hour or two here or there, gems have absolutely zero interest for me. I stopped chasing levels back when Edmund made 50 and exposed the man behind the curtain.
I looked at this and my first thought was "Quests Without Rewards"
I guess I'll just wait to see what it's really like later.
I can already for see that this will simply be an Ego battle between a certain number of players which will eventually die in a few months time! nothing more nothing less!
is it going to look back at the time the player has played or from when this is implementated. and if you have already done all the quests in the quests book are you going to have to do them over?
yep this will last for a while then ppl will get sick of it.
ok im 2 years into this game thus far. it has changed granted, but not for the better however. pvp was promised , generals skill tree? more land?
come on devs get with it stop coming up with idiotic ideas like this and give us what youve already promised.
This new implementation doesn't seem to fit with the actual game. Seems more like a Facebook "kiddy" game attraction.
However, with that being said: I do believe this could be a positive if handled correctly from the beginning.
I noticed different achievement aspects listed (military, economy, trade, etc.); why not use these achievement goals not as a "who's who," but as an island skill tree (which has a little more to do with the game) to improve/"level-up" those aspects of the game.
For example: x # of "military achievement points" can be devoted to improving generals or troop production in different ways, or "trade achievement points" that can be used to lower the cost of additional trade slots in the trade office.
Just adding things to the game that are offered in other games is not really the best way to gain a larger player-base.
1. How about Achievement that actually uses some skills.
For example. Finding Collectibles.
A. Find X collectibles on your island. this can be a progressive achievement. Like find 10. Then another one that is find 100. etc. Find 100000. It keeps people at least doing something skillful.
B. Help a friend find X collectibles. Again this encourages you to go out and find collectibles on other people's island.
2. I recommend that you remove the Science Skills Specialization that requires people to spend their books in a specific way.
A. The generic ones like have a fully skilled out specialist is good.
B. The ones that make you spend books into specific ones like "The Erudite" (terrible!) or "Refreshments!" (VERY terrible!) "Woodsman" god. that's awful!
Those are not achievements. They're punishment. Books are on a timer. They take a very long time to make and are very valuable. Especially when the cost of them increases the time factor. I don't mind spending Manuscripts and waste them on extra specialists. But Tomes and Codecs should not be forced upon players for achievements.
Just wait my Acheesements will be bigger than yours
Unless you get good tangible awards for your island, I'm not particularly interested in this.
I would like to see more Guild Achievements for example complete 5 guild quests in a row , progressing upwards.
Buff achievements.
Maybe some fun ones too. Carpet Bomb a friend's isle while they are offline.
My suggestion: Make sure that purchased buildings that produce the same resources are counted. For example, an endless copper mine should be counted as a copper mine and a friary should be counted as a brewery. In fact, a friary should be counted 4x as it produces 4x the brew. After all, with a friary, there is no need for me to add more breweries.
Real simple!!!!! Just add another 50 player levels to the game and call it good!!!
And all the level 50's will forget about all the problems with the game because they will be too busy tripping over each other to be the first to get to level 51!!
All problems solved! (takes a bow)
This looks fun, and I need more island space to build 5 breweries :)
Awesome, I like that! (space, that is). Or count the friaries x4 ^^ No, wait...more space is better! :P
I can't wait to see the UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES that occur when this boondoggle is started.
same wimpy. look at the adv invite now. glad I cant do adv I don't wanna mess with all that
I came here to find out a couple of things about this new system. I play on the test server as well as my regular game. I read through the comments here and wasn't going to post, because it seems that most of the comments here are by people who haven't tried this out on the test server, and have no idea what it brings or entails. I find this really frustrating.
I've been playing it on the test server, as I said. The majority of the achievements are regular things people do every day in the game...log in every day, reach level 10...20...30...etc., buying the tavern specialists, bringing back gold or resources from searches...it's all regular stuff, people!! The rewards for each achievement are gems. I can't see why people would have a problem with getting gems for doing the things they do every day anyway. Can someone please explain that one to me??
Why is it that people come here and immediately start to complain about something new without ever having tried it out, or even tried to see what it entails??
I, for one, am happy to get gems for the things I do each day. I like the achievement system the way it's been presented on the test server, and I really hope they implement it as it is. I want those gems!!
i think i got all the rewards this system will be giving out. this is going to be a mines bigger than yours type of thing but still interesting to find out what players are doing as a way to compare. just because someone hit lvl 50 now doesn't mean they have done much.
I hope that the developers take into consideration the Law of Unintended Consequences. What is going to get screwed up when this is started live?
My only question is:
By looking on the forum there are achievements like upgrade 3 buildings to lvl 5 and such... If a player already has 3 building to lvl 5 will this achievement be automatically completed or we need to destroy buildings and start from scratch? Cause if the lvl 50 players already have all their buildings lvled up it would be a shame if they have to destroy and rebuild to complete an achievement, and would be in part more of a frustration achievement than fun one.
Eh, I get more gems. Better than nothing.
Just my two gold, but achievement systems are a waste of time. I have played and quit several games partially due to the introduction of a silly I am better than you acheesement system. I am not playing as part of a competition.
I have no problem with the new achievement program. For some it will be an exciting new thing to do. For others it will not. If it doesn't interest you, just ignore it For me? I don't know. I will be in the middle I think. Just as long as it doesn't screw up anything and create bugs.
I like it. Something else to do and more rewards. For newer players like me, I expect it to keep me busy for a while. Not sure how long it might keep veterans busy. Test server starts me off at 29%, and that character is limited in some respects. Speaking of test, I see I can transfer e-mail resources right into storage instead of the star. Nice.
I still have quests I haven't done because I don't want to waste the resources, I'm sure as hell not wasting them on achievements! I saw some achievements on the test server that I'm never doing. I'm not changing the way I play. I've been playing for 2 1/2 years and I'm only level 46. Where is the island skill tree? We're finally getting a storehouse button in our emails. I don't know why the stuff in the email can't automatically go in to the storehouse like trades do!
Really...This is the best you can do you need to hire people who actually play the game to give you suggestions on what would make this game better.
I would personally appreciate it if you would stop making the area under the avatar bigger and bigger. Soon, I won't be able to see how little space is left to work with on my island thanks to useless buttons that i will never press most likely. If a friend can see your island, I'm pretty sure they can see your achievements. I have an idea, how about moving where the pop-up messages start at the top of the screen down just enough so that we can mouseover the population and see what units we have without waiting. I also see no use in this other than to cause embarrassment maybe to someone for not participating by adding useless skills or even worse, by not spending gems. Maybe i don't want my achievements on public display especially after years of playing with no such system in place... how about a checkbox to give us the option of turning it off if we don't want it and put it all in the drop-down list out of sight. Thanks but i'm not excited by this at all.
