An interesting mix of the awesome and the spectacularly useless! Just what I have always wanted...a Level 6 stone mason! Nice going on the Lucky Explorer, though!
Farms can go to level 6, but silos stay at level 5 max? that's just mean....
EDIT:
This does seem like a great opportunity to make SALT PETER useful, if you are going to up buildings to level 6, make it cost a few thousand SP.
I think that probably somehow jives with the improved silo.
I loved this event. to bad u cant get frairy's again :(
Agreed, soggyshorts. Having to add more silos to keep up with the level 6 farms would mean less space on our islands. I would prefer to have the choice of upgrading a silo to level 6 rather than a stone/marble mason. The deposits deplete much too quickly as it is once the masons are at level 4 and up.
Nice to see that the Event Calendar is making a return! Overall, I'm looking forward to this event.
Goooooool!!! :soccer:
Couple of questions:
Will balls be dropped via searches?
Aside from the lucky explorer and grout, what other things will the balls buy?
doesnt look as good the the last euro cup event, hopefully more will be added when the version is finalized and dev diary released
Sounds awesome! I love the new explorer, am THRILLED about the level 6 marble masons (though it sounds pretty hard to get the stuff to accomplish the upgrade), and the event quests sound interesting. Good job, BB!
AWESOME!!!!!! new stuff. keep it coming BB no matter how blah it is, IT'S NEW!!!!!!! Hope that doesn't sound like i'm saying anything bad. i am excited for any new content.
lvl 6 masons will deplete the deposits quicker. This will be more of a pain in the srse than it is now. Double the deposits at the same time masons go to 6 and you will have something really good.
A new resource? Why? Can I turn my saltpeter into grout?
Excitement level: 0
A few thoughts about the event:
Event calendar: it gives an improved storehouse. Really? A lot of 50s are not going to bother making sure they log in 30 consecutive days just for an improved storehouse. An extra of a limited item is a powerful driver towards excitement about an event. The gold tower was that (there is also the fact a gold tower is worth about 10x what an improved storehouse is).The first event calendar was decent, but it was the reward at the end that made it special.
New explorer: looks great, though will need to test it to see its effects on the artifact/rarity searches. Still, we already have a lot of explorers (18). Another one is not huge. Another item primarily geared towards newer players.
Non-combat event adventures: interesting idea, i guess they copied the players nuking a complete BLT. Will see how onerous the resources needed to manufacture the buffs are. If some of those buffs are gem only, there will be a bit of protesting.
ONE ITEM OF NOTE: CALLING A SOCCER BALL A FOOTBALL IN THE US IS A CAPITOL OFFENSE. geeze.
Lvl 6 buildings: Choosing these 3 buildings is a bit....disappointing.
Stone mason - works out, but nothing exciting. Stone is a peripheral resource for most of the players that would have a lvl 5 mason.
Marble mason - deposit size is a big issue for marble. Lvl 6 marble mason will hardly help that out. A complete waste.
Farm - most people with lvl 5 farms also have silos/improved silos. Allowing just 1 of the 2 to be upgraded is rather frustrating. It was a grueling inconvenience balancing out improved silo walk times with their asinine 3x speed rather than 3x amount so that each field was serviced by equal numbers of improved silos and farms. Adding more silos is not possible. There is no room. making room would involve moving dozens of level 5 buildings. The only alternative is buffing the improved silos once every 45 hours.
Finally - grout. Really? the pinnacle resource for level 6 upgrades is grout? Couldn't you have used another exotic stone or wood?
New explorer will be very useful for me. Maybe not so much for experienced players/gem buyers, but I sure could have used another one over the last few weeks.
I agree that the improved warehouse pales in comparison to the gold tower, but I have been wanting more of those anyway. If only they fit into my layout easier. I await an improved improved warehouse.
I don't even have any of those buildings past level 3 yet (except 3 level 4 farms), so I have no real input yet on that.
New explorer FTW!!! best thing ive seen in a long long time- back to back events each with event explorers. cant even imagine a x3 as fast explorer skills maxxed on finding event items and artifacts... epic!
Everything Looks great. Simple as that.
However, My only problem is why the Level 6 Stone Mason, marble and Farm?
Why can't it be Level 6 Barracks/Provision House/Mayors House (+Storehouses)?
I'd much rather Increase my troop production/PH Production or Storage space then rather Increase Stone, Marble and Farm Production (>'.')>
What's worse is we don't even have level 6 Silos!
Bye Bye Silo/Farm Ratio!
Event Calender - Grand prize - Improved Storehouse
I hope your joking, this doesn't motivate me to log in 30 days at all. I would just sell that building because I have no where on my island to make it useful. Now I will still log in 30 days in a row just to make sure I get the other prizes. I hope they will make up for the Improved Storehouse.
Event Adventures - Something that doesn't cost military units. Eh I can live with this but calling soccer "football" I feel offended because I'm an American but I understand since this is a European game for the most part.
Lucky Explorer - 3x as fast... wonderful another way to screw up the syncronization of my system. It's fine bring another explorer into the mess but couldn't it be x2 as fast? Otherwise I love this idea. Nice to see something useful coming out.
Upgradable Buildings - Stone Mason/Marble Mason/Farm to lvl 6
Stone Mason - Why would I do this? My lvl 5 is fine and I only need 1.
Marble Mason - Um... only way I'll do this if the deposit becomes larger overall on finding those marble deposits, lvl 5 is keeping up just fine.
Farm - Um... yea I have 60+ farms... Not going even bother trying to get all of them to lvl 6 espiecally if it's a new resource that is rare to aquire except for events/gems. Not motivating me to upgrade to lvl 6 until I see silos are on that list.
Overall thought:
I'm excited about the adventures and see how they work & the explorer. I know this isn't the final release and hope there will be better changes before it is released.
evil_j had a good point - this might be only the 3 MODELS they showed, but most buildings will have a level 6.
Im excited
Well, it does say that these are the "first" three buildings. Hopefully more and better ones to come. Still, it's a disappointing opener.
I'm hoping that they have new flowerbed flags. It would be cool to get some more from around the world. I predict Iran will be the top seller!
I like the level 6 idea but not adding the silo to the list of buildings that get to go to level 6 along with the farms is pointless as I would never level a farm let alone all my farms to 6 before I can do my silos.
even a few silos is better then no silos. i only recently got my silos = farms.. even though some of the farms are four. its easy to do the balance with silos. you just add one every payday until you no longer have to add fields. same thing switching to upgraded silos. you buy one, take out three normal silos. put the improved silo down and sell the other two silos in TO. moving farms is also now possible, we dont have to destroy them like the old days to move them. that makes room for the pirate buildings i keep getting from the magic box. as well, building up buildings, say i have five level three farms. i could make that three level five farms, open up two spaces and two building licenses. i now have 30 some building licenses i dont need by upgrading. too bad i cant sell them or at least give them away.
31 days for Improved Warehouse? Thumbs down from me.
Considering the Improved warehouse is trade-able it doesn't feel very special or that rewarding. You can just buy that from Trade Office.
Maybe something that is more Limited and NOT trade-able should be given instead. A 'second lucky explorer' might be more interesting. Or another gold tower wouldn't be so bad.
Glad you guys never disappoint me with all your whining, thank you again!
Though, there have been 2 slack offs so far, one being the freebies sometime last or 2 weeks ago, and the recent 150 eggs...still had no QQ thread about that, so please someone/anyone, open a thread for that and give me what I want to read.
Doesn't even matter if you guys get the same stuff as last time, can't use building lisences because no space, but there is the...oh wait Friary is out of the question too because no space, but there would've been less QQ for that. But this time the saving grace would've been the natiol decoration flags I guess, because nobody is crying the F about Rabbids/Xmas trees/Pavillions for being useless. I'd assume someone wants to tell me they are smaller and would fit somewhere that doesn't block a real building space for a real building...but guess what. Nobody. Cares.
Get spoiled once with a goldtower and think you'll get something like that everytime, spoilt is what you become.
...how about getting off your horse and just taking a freebie ffs? If you don't want the stupid Imp.Warehouse then give it away to someone who would _love_ to have one...just..maybe? All I will see is it getting sold for as much coin/whatever possible because you got something you don't care about, but need to gouge the hell out of someone else for regardless. Hypocrites.
At lastly...feeling offended by calling footballs by their actual name and not the next stupid thing your Pseudo Freedom Country could come up with, bravo! Last I checked football (I mean soccer) was played long before football (I mean the american one). Not to mention that football (the american one again) is mostly played with your hands and running around, which, by common sense definition, isn't the smartest choice to name a sport after. Which brings us to the point to just renaming the thing properly! Here a few examples:
- Football that has almost nothing to do with a ball and your feet
- Sport that gets played like nowhere else besides the US (yea yea there are a few countries, still doesn't make it viable, never heard anyone play it in germany in 20 years besides googling it 10 minutes ago)
- Rugby 2.0
- Rabbit run
- Oceanball (so you westsiders don't cry about Atlanticball and you eastsiders don't cry about Pacificball), then again, nothing to do with water either! :O
- (also rename Pineapples, that stuff doesn't make sense either)
Then again, just about anything that doesn't refer to an already well known sport would do...losing the "american" in that football wouldn't be a terrible start either, not only doesn't stuff revolve around america, but no country wants to become world chamption of "American Football" (yes, I'm making a case by an american being offended by footballs instead of soccerballs because he _is_ american[no less of course]), which probably can be disregarded because who else but USA could be world champion yada yada blabla.
While I'm not really a sports enthusiast (at least not watching sports), I at least tried to give it a go. After some 10minutes watching,I felt like being made fun of worse than it the lamest football (soccer this time) game ever. And no, I've got no clue which teams were playing for anyone to could say it was a bad/good game.
Now that I'm done venting and making fun of this crap...
Realize this is a MMO.
The thing about MMOs is, that once bought (which you didn't even had to pay for!) they are most always still expanding and receiving updates regularly (sure it might not be the fastest, but it's happening and you didn't have to pitch in a single coin for that either; albeit someone else may have) and things therefore change or may change. As Veteran you will cry about having to change things accordingly, a Noob is jealous because you can do so "on the fly". Simple up- and downside from playing a long time already versus just starting out, but takes too much brain capacity to understand simple stuff like that.
If it were a normal game, you'd likely need to pay for add-ons or DLCs, which probably wouldn't deliver much more than what you already had. Or just go back to playing Call of Duty and so forth, because FPS are so entertaining with their variety of gameplay. Wish I could somewhere find the button sequence for Counter Strike..
Only thing I'm really looking forward (mainly because of the whining that will ensue) are the General and Home Island skilltrees. For I am one who has stopped upgrading buildings and moving things around until then and gimping myself so I won't have to deal with the potential cluster madness that may come from it.
And now, make alot of angry comments so I can get entertained when I'll get back. Please.
Very few people on Ares understand the gameplay of the elder 50s of Zeus. If the item can be traded, they can easily obtain it. I bought 20 Imp silos the first day using coin and leveled them to 5 within 8 days of buying. A building that I can easily buy with a tiny bit of coin is not exciting for a month of logging in.
We want innovative new content - but also content that does not break existing production ratios unless it has a dam good reason (like the deerstalker or imp silo, though both had flaws).
The new explorer looks to be interesting (6.8h artifact search is interesting). Still - no innovative new building or anything really to be worth our time to log in every day (or spend gems if we miss a few days).
We have been promised Pvp for a couple of years now. What do we get? Another calendar with a trade able building.
you miss the point of this thread - its for FEEDBACK, not bowing and scraping their feet. its to tell them what we like and what we don't like - and maybe what they explained poorly. we are giving FEEDBACK - Improved warehouse (or any other tradeable building) is a poor reward for the calendar. If you want to write fiction on why every update is only good, go get in line behind Asiastrings.
As for american football v. soccer - you just choked upon some sarcasm that nearly every poster was using. If I was trying to troll a European about it, you would of just taken the bait, hook, line and sinker.
well said Drac....
Anyways BB i still have a few thousand soccerballs, im sure there are quite a bit floating out there in Zeus, and 75k pumpkins in my storage, if you plan on making a good amount on sales on your gems for future events (more so from Halloween and on) then you will need to have a good event item worth buying from event shop that is unlimited. On the page with details for summer event the only event item i see there is the new scout (which is awesome)... so i am going to assume that the same items from the original summer event will be in shop- x5 friaries, Building licenses and unlimited stadium snacks. I dont need friaries so those will go to guildies, i have 100 unused BLs with a full island so the BL is worthless and rainbows > snacks..... besides the new scout i do not see anything a player like me would purchase, given from what i said and am guessing (which event items will be availible during summer event), do not expect a large amount of gem sales :/
-His Name Was TrueHead... aka GUN, now known as RobertPaulson
It doesn't quite take a remarkable intellect to figure out that an endless game + time = "furthest endgame possible". If you hadn't been aware of that long before hitting 50, not sure what to do with you, obvious was kinda obvious. Then there is this mystical disease people have that the game at 50 somehow changes. Exactly how? Now at 50, you don't gain XP (which seems to depress alot of people for some reason) and you are still only doing the same thing over and over again until you can level your buildings to 5. So, you finally made it to the point of "furthest endgame possible" but you possibly _can't_ say you were expecting something to happen now? It's a time sink, we all know it, a bunch stayed, a bunch jumped ship, gotta decide...and it's a fairly long way until then.Quote:

Perfectly agree on that.Quote:

But we are speaking about content now (yea events count toward that alright), it's core is far different from events. So to keep in line here, with this thing we are supposed to FEEDBACK on, is an event, nothing that needs to crazy wtf wreck the TO like this stupid Goldtower. Oh wait, that was a welcomed part because it was useful (yea yea not on Zeus people because everyone be billionaire). Instead of most people being able to enjoy the Goldy now, they need to pay more for all resources because of the inflation the Goldy has added. Not sure how this is more brillant when in the end it doesn't change a single thing for the better. Since I don't trade much I'm not much bothered by it, it pays for the Manuscripts at least *shrugs
Again, another lookout from one perspective only, the ones who have everything already. Most every noob has a hard on for this guy already. It's a _massive_ upgrade to their 3 slow pokes and maaaaaaybe 1 Savage.Quote:

In perfect honesty...PvP, this static game..will do it for you? As in...really? Like really really?Quote:
We have been promised Pvp for a couple of years now. What do we get? Another calendar with a trade able building.
With current gameplay, PvP will simply be dominated by people who have been through most events and have dropped some cash to buy everything in the merchant, just going with Generals now, because more Generals equals more and faster pew pew.
Indeed I miss the FEEDBACK that's supposed to be here. All I hear is whining from the most endgame possible players, because nobody cares about the 0815 player who perfectly enjoys this simple stuff they don't have yet and otherwise wouldn't get without dropping their wallet. Not all content can and will be aimed toward endgame, as simple as that.Quote:
you miss the point of this thread - its for FEEDBACK, not bowing and scraping their feet
Any retort about needing to keep endgamers to keep the game alive will be dismissed, as there won't be a game without the noobs growing bigger either. It's like taking out the middle class of a country, it's suicide.
So it's not FEEDBACK anymore? But...But...but I...FEEDBACK?! Aww shugs :(Quote:
As for american football v. soccer
Last content-update aimed at endgame was...eh, Fairytale I guess, which resulted in lots of crying over losses being so high (dare lose anything other then Recruits when you have trillions of coins to waste around), rewards being so expensive...and everything just quiet down again, as it was actually balancing the game quite nicely. Then people start crying they can't run 3 FTs back to back because PH/Barracks can't keep up with the losses...I mean really? Not only do you need to have no job to be this dedicated, but also failing to see it wasn't supposed to be another horribly broken adventure like Nords or BK and totally disregarding the intention of that being a "3 player map" to team up, so now they've come up with those annoying Co-ops instead...and failing miserably here because nothing really worth spending the time on.
Plus, with Testserver being updated now, the items have already changed to what this preview has shown. I'll save you the time and write if for you though
- Great Explorer limit to 2, fancy but still whatever
- Friaries, can trade them, have enough, don't need them.
- 5 BLs, already have enough and no space, useless.
- 20 MAs are excellent! I have no space for more Manors though
- Stadium Snack. Overpriced, already got enough Rainbow buffs already anyway
- Training Overtime. Overpriced.
- Rest whatever
So alas, still nothing new for your endgame experience, sorry :(
FEEDBACK is all good and so forth when it is constructive, but most of this is simply whining.
This event goes live on far more servers than just Zeus and Ares, and most servers/players will appreciate to get what they can. So your FEEDBACK should contain a far broader view than just (yourself and) Zeus.
Good night.
There are some finer points about the game that you haven't learned yet:
3 level 5 farms are NOT the same as 5 level 3 farms. Why? travel time.
same goes for improved silos
example:
Level 1 improved silo adds 1 wheat in 4m + travel (let's say 20s)
Level 1 farm takes 1 wheat every 12m + travel (let's say 20s)
so 3 L1 farms will take 3 wheat out in 12m20s
The silo will need 4m20 x3 trips to add 3 to a deposit total time 13m
result? over time your wheatfield will collapse. An improved silo is worth about 2.75 farms of equal level, not 3.
That's all based on best travel times, as your numbers go higher and you get more buildings in the chain, distances increase and the ratios get worse.
When you reach a point where your island is 100% full, and all your buildings are level 5, this becomes a very important distinction.
Here's my feedback:
I look forward to getting this new Explorer, I would like to get 3.
I hope this "grout" isn't an impossible task for the newcomers (and others) to achieve.
Although the ability to upgrade masons, marble masons and farms may not be the most exciting right now, it will help the newcomers and I wonder if they fit into a bigger plan. I hope so. (Of course that's my wishful strategic thinking only).
As I no longer have space to add more silos, I need more space. :) More island space would be a nice calendar prize. ^^
Would love to see how to get tne new resorce (if it is hard then it is less valuble to all players). As far as the other stuff will wait to see.
If it is easy to get then it's less valuable* - grout that is
my response for grout will probably be buying up million worth of grout and sitting on it till a good update comes out.
I could of moved old silos perfectly fine, cost 50k to move? no big deal. The problem is the new silos I have to run at a 11:4 ratio. This makes it really fun to perfectly place my buildings so 11 farms 4 silos feed into EACH field exactly. Otherwise fields collapse over time, silos start wandering and the ratio breaks down. It would probably take me 6 hours to rearrange everything to keep the needed ratios.
Gold towers DID NOT BREAK your little economy. The blame goes to the PH2. If you had seen the state of gold production before/after Christmas you would understand. Before Christmas, ONLY lvl 5 coinages received 3x buffs. Now everything does. Before 3x buffs only came from events and noobs selling off their leveling buffs. 1 gold tower brings in 110 coin or so a day unbuffed. Pittance compared to gold chains churning out 10k every 12h.
This is just another event that is supposed to distract (some) players attention for some time. I never thought they are supposed to bring radical changes to the game. What if somebody is on vacation (God forgive me for having these sinful thoughts! ) and it will miss the event entirely ...? Remember that in Europe normal ppl have 6 weeks vacations :o, so don't expect big changes. Cornelius Fuscus would have said "panem et circenses" :p
PS. You can call it either football or soccer ball...for me is just a ball. Just don't call it "puck"
