Agreed. I have 4 gold towers. My economy is better now with them! :)

U missed the point- gold towers made little difference on the economy according to drac, though i believe it did have a bigger impact than he suspects. u times that 115gc (and i assume ppl x2 it) so lets say an even 200gc per day ish times 500 (prob a low estimate of the people who received their free gold towers) which is an extra 100k gc per day. that may not sound like alot but u then think that since xmas about 4months has gone by- so since then about 12mil gold coin has been added to the open market circulation- this is not the main factor to the "breaking" of economy but def has made a higher impact than perceived. The RPH def made the greatest difference but these 2 factors combined brought us to where we are today, where gold coins hold significantly less value and predictions say it will only get worse.
The link for my photo isn't working as it should. (so I deleted the above post)
I wanted to share an image of a level 6 mayors house I made. I entered it into the weekly photo contest a few weeks ago.
http://forum.thesettlersonline.net/t...144#post235144
and why no flags????? would be nice to see them in the shop again.
I'm glad that a few players had the chance to get a gold tower and everyone can get them by doing the fairytale adventures.
I'm not sure I'd bother with something like the gold tower if I were BB. Now people apparently expect something like that every couple months. I'll be happy with an improved storehouse. It's not great and may be oddly shaped, but everybody can make some use out of it. For those who think it's not worth it, they won't care if they miss out.
I take it the situation with stone never really changes. I don't think that's the point. If you're doing something to one mason, might as well do it to another. More marble is pretty helpful, but I would have concerns about upkeep as well. I currently search about once a day for level 3, which works out pretty well. I don't really have time to search twice a day. I could probably send out those three geologists I have no use for twice each in the morning before work, but I still think it would be a struggle. Farms, however, are the perfect building for an increase, though silos really should go along with them.
Its not the fact of the value even that is annoying - but the fact the imp storehouse is not a unique reward.
heck - a one of a kind event pop building, that gave 140 pop and this was the only way to get it would be better then the imp store as a reward for this.
BB plz put in a death star gold tower for the players that a imp store house isn't good enough for....i'm happy with it btw
If soccer balls are going to be rarer than eggs, then the Lucky Explorer as WELL as the Friary should not cost more than the MMA general.
I think 1500 soccer balls would make more sense, and then increase the rate of finding soccer balls.
Plus since when are buildings in event resources comparable to their gem price. Actually a Friary is cheaper in gems than soccer balls. Unless I missed something, a friary shouldn't be 2499 soccer balls, if you can get for 2450 in gems. Aren't events supposed to help people who don't have a lot of money a chance to get said items.
Why then would a 7000 MMA gem general cost only 2395 in eggs, but a Friary costs more in soccer balls than gems, and soccer balls are rarer than eggs. This will likely also apply to the lucky explorer even if it is more expensive in gems than its soccer ball price.
I understand the need to make money, but given how difficult it is to even get special items within the world cup event to get soccer balls. I mean it requires 69 twisters for a bicycle kick, it just seems like soccer balls may be even more valuable than gems, so the items should DEFINITELY cost less than their gem price. At the very least make it so we can buy these special items, like a banana peel with resources that we have, like Marble or Hardwood or something. I mean the testing server has been out a few days, and I HAVE YET to make a relevant special buff because of how expensive they are.
It's already going to be hard for low level players with no income to even get 100 soccer balls let alone 2500 for ONE Lucky Explorer let alone enough for 2 Lucky explorers and 2 friary's. I hope low level players are part of guilds, and high level players with an income can make thousands of soccer balls very easily. Especially if explorers are only bringing in 1-5 soccer balls per treasure search and it IS NOT a guarantee.
Edit: When I said it would be hard to make 100 soccer balls, I was excluding soccer ball rewards given by completing event quests.
Upgrading buildings to lev6 is a very fine idea, I hope that more of those upgrades will be introduced in time for other buildings as well.
Introducing upgrade to lev 6 on farm and not on silos at the same time is just setting yourself up for whines, complains and flames on forums, agitating your player base. Your game requires extensive and careful planning, placements and settings to ensure steady flow of production. And here you are again messing everything we players plan, set and calculate just cause you couldn't introduce lev6 silo upgrade TOGETHER with farm upgrade. Seriously?
ANother valid point that I am sure most players would think of when they read about lev6 stone and marble mason. Could the marble and stone depos be also enhanced? The 360ish marble depo (found by the enhanced Geos) go dry within less than 12 hrs by lev5 masons. would be very useful to hike this (either by design or by changing the Geos % ) to 500ish to accomadate the lev 6 masons. I think most players would agree with this.
Having been on the test server, we really need to drop the amount of collectables used to make the buffs for the adventures. I cant see making 105 Buffs that each use roughly 80 collectables ( 40 of 2 types)
I am having a Blast with the Lucky explorer, tho wish I had a loot table supplied by BB instead of trying to make one
i've been logging in for 3 days now and still don't have enough stuff to do the first adventure. yep need to adjust the drop rate or amount needed to make one of those buffs. oh and nice try making adventures troopless so as not to draw attention to the barracks failure of not being able to make more than 25 still
The funniest part about this entire discussion is that we act like this game has a history of well-planned game design. MAB's ruined the economy more in one week than the RPH or GTs have even had the chance to since the Christmas event.
I do like the idea of quests being fairly challenging and not ones with quest lines that can be completed in 15 mins, but I have to agree with GFM...something has to change with the drop rates to make the matches reasonable to complete. Otherwise, assuming these collectibles are traded, everyone will take to the TO, and the richest (or the craftiest) will be the only ones to complete a match.
I also have to agree with all the other complaints about the final event calendar reward, but I also have to disagree. You could feasibly log in once a day for 2 mins to open your daily door. I would do that for an ISH...not a problem. So, I think it's worthy for that little work. On the other hand, it would be nice to receive something usable (not just decor) from the event that says that you took part in the event.
It seems a bit pointless that someone with a credit card can start the game today and, with the aid of premium, can be lvl 50 within a few weeks and have an island that looks nearly identical to a person who's been playing for 2+ years. Events should really help define and differentiate loyal, long-term players from faddish, short-term payers who will have moved on in 2 months after dropping a couple hundred dollars. It helps with player retention when players *cannot* attain items easily. (Case in point, the number of users who had been working to upgrade Nobles for pop, but are now bored because they've swapped in FMs.)
Also...who let the incoherent know-it-all from Ares with the convoluted, barely logical arguments stop taking his meds? There's really something to be said for a healthy, daily dose of psychotropics.
Eh i dunno how much MABs ruined the entire economy. They made a few players go from 10/11k pop to 20-30k pop. not a game changer, just a convenience. their influence was much more narrow then 3x buffs and making map frags.
agreed Drac- MAs did not have an affect on the value of gold coin- it actually made FMs cheaper to get, so may have helped it out if anything...... (as well as helped by increasing pop which leads to players being able to run more advs which would hypothetically lower value of lootspots and resources received from lootspots)...
What in the hell are MAB's or even FMs, I sure as hell can't think of ANY building that would have those acronyms.
And if they aren't buildings I still sure as heck can figure them out.
Your petty insults aside, you are making at least valid points instead of just flat out whining, so thank you for not being as narrow viewed as others have been.
MABs and FMs are referring to Master Architect Boxes and Frozen Manors.
O, you super rich higher level players, forgetting that there are lowbies playing this game too. :P MABs were a game-changer and here is why: How many FMs did you get from Mabs? Now multiply that by 10-15k. That is how much gold coin a lower level player just accessed. Also, imagine a game without MABs. How many hoarders still have an end-game of slowly replacing nobles and WTs by running constant nords 2 (a gem-only item, and that is important) or buying them for 30kish from other players that have to do the exact same thing of running a gem adventure. That is not it. Mabs dropped a wide variety of pop buildings, giving many players access to population that would have only been accessable from running adventures or buying in TO, or gem nobles. Personally, I don't know the extent this has actually changed the game, but it is hard to say it couldn't.
That said, it is very easy to see the differences that the new prov house has brought to the game. Good or bad, it was at least different. Adding level 6 farms, fast silos, fast watermills, faster explorers, while improving gameplay, isn't going to change much.
Flat out whining IS constructive criticism. It is not our job to make a game, that some of us pay for, enjoyable. Why do we need to create the game...who are we paying then??? If BB introduces something on test, and we the customers 'flat out whine' that it is not enjoyable for a variety of reasons, they, the game-designers, need to WORK and produce something that is enjoyable. If not, we the customers, will stop whining, and go somewhere else.
Its basic economy: Supply a product that people want and when they 'whine' it is valuable product feedback. And again, WE are the customers and THEY are the producers, it is not our JOB to tell them how to make a fun game. That being said, many players provide valid points and suggestions to BB, many of which are ignored, some of them implemented. I think BB should be grateful that they have a player base that enjoys the original concept and is willing to work with them at creating a better game. BB should also listen better to those valid points.
No, not at all. It does deliver the dissatisfaction, but it's not constructive by any means.Quote:
Flat out whining IS constructive criticism.
To show the difference.
Constructive:
Firefox 29's Australis look is "useless" to someone on non touchscreen user. [This is the topic part]
Version 29, however, forces the touchscreen design on you (who doesn't need touchscreen support at all) and has nothing new/better to what you've been used to besides messing with your layout. So this is unwanted. [This is the dissatisfaction part]
Making the touchscreen support optional for desktops (either by customisation through the options or a separate download) would fix the problem. [This is the constructive part]
You can revert back to 28 or any other version if you like, though you will have to go through that hassle. [This is the compromise part; something we can't do in TSO obviously going with this example].
Whining:
Mom and kid go to ice cream stand. Mom buys ice cream for the two of them. Everyone happy. [This is the topic part]
Kid eats ice cream and wants more, Mom says no. Kid is making a fit and being annoyingly loud until it either gets another ice cream (not the one Mom has of course :)) or gets bored/outta stamina/whatever. [This is the problem part]
End of Story. [This is the...not constructive part aka whining]
[Compromise is also missing, the Mom had no reason to give in since the kid was preoccupied with being loud and not making an effort]
Not that you should train kids to the reward-if mentality, but that's a whole different story altogehter and unrelated to the game anyhow.
Of course it's not your job to make the game, but you are a part of it (while playing at least) and have ideas and would consider it an improvement to the game which has been either an oversight so far, flat out missing or a great addition to make it more enjoyable for everyone.
They get to analyze the idea, work it out by their standards, mechanics, values and whatnot and present that, get constructive feedback on that and rework it (maybe) accordingly. Rinse and repeat until a final version has been reached and add said content. Everybody aside the "you can't make everybody happy"-portion is content.
Of course you also don't need to give any feedback (including this "constructive" whining) at all, but then you also gotta take what you get without complaints. Like it or not, move on or don't, been your choice all along.
Very yes.Quote:

Most businesses thrive because of customer feedback, many fall because of failing to act upon it or being too slow in doing so and getting shredded by their competition.
As you said, many good ideas have been delivered and implented or been ignored for the longest time already and it's causing major complaints/whining. These are _warranted_ though, as proper feedback has been given with multiple solutions long time ago (such as the 25/stack limits, General landing zones) and still haven't been implented. It's either making it a priority to ensure customer satisfaction or keep serving a well done steak to a medium rare order...it will only work that often until he won't come back.
The only thing I'm on about is because people are simply ungrateful as it gets. So Mom bought you 3 ice creams (Goldtower...) on Xmas but only 1 ice cream (ImpStorehouse...) this time...enjoy getting anything at all or just turn the offer down, it doesn't get much simpler than that. Maybe realize that mom can't always afford 3 ice creams or keep upping the amount whenever going past that stand, especially when other kids are plenty happy to get even 1 going past that stand every single day for a month.
And if i say 'waaah! i want 3 ice creams because 1 is not enough!' "Mom" is either going to get me 3 ice creams to satisfy me, 2 ice creams to compromise, 1 ice cream and a gem sale to distract me, or 1 ice cream and risk me finding another "mom." And if that "mom" is constantly making the kids do pointless chores (ie barracks, buffs, star storage, etc.) and pieces of the house keep falling apart without getting fixed (ie BUGS), and most of her kids are whining and not happy with 1 garbage ice cream, this "mom" better figure out a way to at least hand out 2 ice creams, and/or make the kids happy another way or these kids are going to run away to that nice shiney mansion with servants who do the chores and 3 ice creams every day!
^^^^valuable feedback ;)
BB quite often takes into account yes/no feedback on something, but 95% of detailed feedback is ignored and dismissed.
Topic: Imp store house is a poor reward. Logic: previous reward was far better due to 1) monetary value 2) scarcity 3) usefulness. Solution: Come up with an item that is highly desired by players.
For example: x10 RBN advs as a reward for all 28 days. That has monetary value thats decent, quite scarce (though a small influx still), and is very very useful. Of course, they will ignore this RBN example and simply take the yes/no feedback from improved storehouse.
I want to be able to buy the flags of each country participating in the WC. I would definitely get a couple for my island.
That is all. Thank you.
I'll hold out for the Death Star General thank you very much
So much talk because of the Calendar...why not remove it then ? so we stop this debate about reward value being too small or not scarce enough. We should spend this energy trying to convince/influence BB to bring major changes to the game, something to keep us distracted for 1 year or longer, not 4 weeks.
well you can see by the "christmas surprise" calander not much effort is being put in anymore. for crying out loud they could have at least changed the name of it. looks like now they are just coasting until whatever new game they release or so many players leave that they are forced to shut the game down. i can't really see thier "big" picture but i can see on the forum main page new members and when i started there were alot of names there now maybe 1-2 a day. how long can 3x gems sales keep players interested in this...i'm thinking not long
If you look at the 2nd to last day on the calander you get either a village school or x2 FLOATING NOBLES!!!! FTW!!!!
yeah, i avoided village schools from the start so in spite of being jypped out of the original 5 or 7 or w.e i may as well keep not getting them, pop so big it doesnt really matter at this point
ok enough crying about how you guys wanted better rewards......these adventures in the soccer event are worthless. i guess only players with all the explorers and deep pockets will get through half of them. egg hunts i understood holiday related and all but an adventure that i can't use troops in is DUMB!!!!!!! first you nerf the nukes only to come out with an event that glorifying buff/nuking your way through?? time to hire a designated dev team or just let the game go. this hodge podge of ideas running a muck at where ever is starting to get out of hand. looks like i'll just skip this one
Time to start saving up on gold coins!
I suggest that everyone go to the test server and check out the soccer event. The adventures(games) are not won with troops but with buffs. Buffs are built in the P Houses using, get this, things you find in collection quests. There is a large selection of collectibles to find.
No comment on what I think of this event.
If collectibles have to be found...well....i was pretty burned out over easter collectibles.
thats the ONLY way to do the adventures, find collectables and make buffs/nukes.......til they nerf them
