If I understand correctly, the old Practice Match is still active and has not cleared with the restart of the event?
If so, visiting the Practice Match adventure (the old one) will clear it and you can start the new Practice Match adventure.

Sorry, not correct. As soon as I logged on today I clicked on the soccer ball and got to the fixture list. I clicked on the first window and earned the new "practice game". I immediately started the adventure to see what it was. A short time later the quest book started flashing with a new event quest "The settlers soccer world championship" and a sub quest of "kick off!" which is to start the adventure "practice game". Somehow I started the new "practice game" adventure before I received the event quest for it and now it won't recognize that I've started it.
Yeah… the calendar showed up for me several hours before the quest chain… I wasn't thinking the quest chain would require me to "start" something, only that I wanted to see how it worked so I started it… now I'm stuck because there's no way to get another "practice match"
starting any adventure will clear the kick off quest. (i used sotv, then cancelled it)
Of course you can't actually start an adventure while you are already in one. But bringing one up and hitting cancel did work for me and I was credited finally for starting the "practice game" adventure.
Provision house has no buttons to make buffs or cards for soccer practice game!
That's happened to a fair number of people, refresh and then wait a few minutes - everything should come back.
Um....why did my first group stage adventure disappear?
Because there are lots of bugs crawling around.
Devs, thanks for trying to keep content fresh and interesting... but this one really needed more time in the testing stages.
And in addition to the irritating bugs (building licences, flashing fixture list message in adventures, false start and all it's issues, etc) I am not happy about having the games take SOOOO long because you are in no way going to be able to quickly come up with enough collectibles to make the huge number of tactical items you need. If the first group stage game is looking like it's going to take me a couple days to finish, I am VERY afraid to start the later games. In addition to having my provision house all tied up, I'm blocked out of playing in adventures.
If there were more of the needed collectibles spawning and less of the scarecrows and herbs, maybe we could get there? In my last collectible search, only about 1/3 of the items were event collectibles. And those were not the ones I needed.
I just did the math - to finish the first group stage game I need either 27 springs or 46 bananas (plus other items, but these are the largest qtys I'm short). Currently there are ZERO of these things available for any price in the Trade Office. And of course there is no way I'll get those quantities in my next few collectible searches. That is what makes this event too difficult to be fun.
This event was on the test server for a short time. It had many bugs. It was pulled off several weeks before they launched it on the live servers. Any changes were NOT tested on the test server. Any questions?
I have 200 Wet Grass and I can't use any because I can't get any Banana Peels to appear in my island...it's ridiculous.
A couple of things -- (1) giving us the option to buy needed collectables would be nice (seems Im getting everything but the collectables I need); (2) the event seems to be more work than the other events....collectables are hard to locate, you don't get what you need alot of the times and then you have to use multiple tactics on one defender...
Where are all the banana peels? I get everything else but that, everyone seems to be getting them except me. I'm trying to finish the practice game, I need banana peels. I got one defender left to finish it.
unemployed populations what to do?
Anyone have any stats for the best treasure search length?
spent two years building troops and pop up just to play where's waldo, seams they want to drive players away
Are the developers going to tweek the amount of event collectibles we get on our island? I know that we get more total collectibles during the event than on normal days, but I think it's kind of ridiculous that I still get 4 or 5 scarecrows for every instance that they show up on the island and only 1 or 2 of every event collectible each time I click them on my island.
Gwalben:
Based on the rewards, and not having any statistics of drop rates,
my opinion is that the very long search is best. It gives you the best chance of bringing back more balls.
These numbers are unskilled explorers.
Short search: 0 or 4 or 8 collectables + 0 or 3 footballs...
Medium search: 0 or 8 + 0 or 8 collectables + 0 or 3 footballs...
Long search: 8 + 8 collectables + 0 or 3 footballs...
Very long search: 16 + 16 collectables + 0 or 6 footballs OR 16 collectables + 0 or 6 or 16 footballs OR 16 collectables + 16 and 6 footballs OR 16 + 16 + 6 footballs
That's what I was thinking as well. I think I'll have my fast explorer go back to very long searches. Though I still need to find a shoulder pad via short search, which is seeming futile.
ya took me a couple days to get that one, and find certain ones on island. just keep at it
It's a pure random luck. I'm still waiting to finish my basic sub-quest from day one of the event LOLOLOL!
Championship Scout - Find a Shoulder Pad collectible during short treasure search.
5 days later and close to a hundred of short searchers later, nothing.
ROFL loving the less than 1% chance just to finish a basic sub-quest BB, you really thought this one through.
Since I started this game between the summer and Halloween event last year, I've enjoyed all the events even if it was just buffing the pumpkin patches. It was nice.
But I must say about this event, I don't really mind what the rewards are for the calendar or anything else, but... it's really really hard to get those footballs.
It's the first event where I'm not enjoying the actual event.
The rewards costs a good amount to get (7.5k football just for the explorer and friary) and since explorer brings back 3-6 at most per search vs the 20~30+ easter eggs per search of last event, I can't see how it would be possible to get all of those, maybe it will get better, but I'm starting to doubt it.
I like the idea of the no troops adventures, but I have just 1 problem. They can take a while to finish and if you started the adventure without all the buffs needed to finish it, you CANNOT do any other adventures. None because it takes the same adventure slot as a regular one. Meaning, if you mindlessly started the event map without having all the buffs, you can say goodbye to getting resources from adventures for a few days.
The price of football got really high, more than the easter eggs I think and I have no ways to get decent amounts of valuable resources until a few days, because let's face it, you need alot of collectibles to get all the buffs you need to finish the match, more days if you can only find collectibles once a day.
At this point, I'm seriously thinking about using one of those sites that tells you what buffs you need, NOT starting the adventure until I have all the buffs I need to do it, then finish it in one swoop, not actually taking time to enjoy the match, defeating one opponent at a time, the rush of excitement as you get closer to finishing the map. No, I'll just run other adventures during the days it will take to collect all what I need and then actually get "rid" of the event match by doing it in a few minutes just to get it over with.
Now if the event map was a separate adventure spot as the regular adventures, that would fix that.
I was thinking of buying gems to get footballs to get all the missing rewards at the end if I didn't get many, but with the insanely small amount of footballs you can get from explorers or event daily quest or finishing the matches (which takes a few days themselves), I'm not going to.
There's a difference with "we want your money to keep running the game" and "lolwemakecrappyratestogetfootballssoyouhavestospe ndallyourgemstogettherewards" kind of we want your money, seriously.
Blitz, I know its frustrating right now. Players who were smart enough/with enough resources to skill their explorers are getting up to 66 balls back for a very long search. The collectibles are ridiculously expensive at the moment in trade. All this will change tho. Keep in mind the event is a month long, and we are still in the first week. There will be enough time to continue collecting stuff, and prices will fall for both cols and balls. Get more explorers if you can, and work on collecting gold to buy balls in weeks 3 and 4.
You are correct about waiting until you have all the buffs made before starting an adv. Its the only way to avoid being held up from doing other advs.
Everyone said the same thing about easter eggs and we all know how it ended, with the price going higher...
Even if you do get about 66 balls a day with all the explorers, that's only 1980 in 30 days, not really enough to get any rewards just with that, maybe 1-2 rewards if you played the market right, but not everyone is that good at playing the market.
You can win about 760 from the event quests if you manage to finish them all. so with that ~2k from explorers and the 760 from rewards, that leaves you with maybe 1 of the explorers. And that's if you have all the explorers, new players or people who are working they way there might not all of that.
I'm comparing to the previous events i've done so far, and at this point, still the "worse" one.
no, the worst one was the stupid balloons! but this one ranks up there, esp with all the glitches
that 66 was 1 explorer...granted i'll probably never see that combo again! it was the absolute max with a skilled exp. very long searches tend to bring back 16 at least, and many players have 5, 10, 15, or more explorers.
yes its hard for new players to get the items. but shouldnt it be? if every item were obtainable for every new player, the game would get really old, really quickly for most players. a difficult challenge is good!
I couldn't disagree more on that and you just explained why by yourself.
New players don't have that many explorers and they can't even do basic long searches yet. They don't mass produce anything already to roll an economy and to buy the soccer balls from the TO, even the COLLECTIBLES, because the prices are ridiculous. Wait for the last week? The price will just go up.
Now for my opinion, how is this event balanced for them? The only viable way for them to have enough soccer balls to get to the rewards is to let them pay real money and go to the Gems market. That, in my book, is a serious "no no" and makes me believe that BB/Ubi only cares about my/your money.
But whatever, that's ok, because if you paid you will win in the end. For only 10 bucks you get at least 1600 gems, 8x250 balls so 2000 balls. Sell those for coins too if you want and there we go, the economy is busted for a month increasing the 'challenge' for those who don't or cannot spend real money.
This game is clearly pay 2 win, people should stop saying that there is a challenge, no balance is there.
I don't spend money on this game. When I was new it was difficult to get all the items, and there were things I had to wait to get. I know of a player who leveled to 50 without ever getting a veteran general! He played everything with the slow gens, and had fun with it. It was almost a year before I got my first vet.
Re the economy, I agree that its insane. We have so many oldbie players on Zeus with lots of coin/resources. The more of an item we have in the server, the lower its value.
I think this is one reason they started Ares to begin with. And I think Ares is the default server for new sign ups? I've been told it's much easier to get balls and collectibles on Ares, as the prices for everything are lower there. Less coin in the server, so it's worth more.
I'm not saying the event is 'fair' for new players. If it were super easy for a level 5 to get everything from one event, the game would quickly lose interest for those who have played a year or more. The 'balance' in the game is about trying to keep all players playing and striving for goals, and enjoying themselves, not hand feeding us everything.
My point is we all put in our time, and had to wait to get things we wanted. Why should that be any different for new players now?
You missed the fact that I am speaking about this event specifically, maybe I wasn't clear enough.
I am not discussing about the game and it's business model in general. So if you had fun with normal general for a year and reached level 50, that's fine for me and I have nothing else to say.
Like I said further down in my previous post, they put cheap and easy access to soccer balls in under 200 gems...it' still super easy for anyone, new or not, to get everything if they want to spend. This event is clearly a cash grab and this is causing a side effect on the economy of the whole server, which is **** and causing a lot of problems.
fair enough. im not saying this is the best event they ever came up with, other events have been much more fun. ive heard a lot of ppl complain about the collectibles. we'd much rather kill stuff! hoping the devs keep that in mind next time and realize collectibles and boxes have run their course.
no one is required to spend money on the game. most of the items in the merchant for balls will be available again, either in the form of gems (which you can save up your weekly allotment for) or in other events (rumor has it that grout will be available in future events.) and if a noob doesnt get a lucky explorer, does that really change the enjoyment of play? i didnt get faster explorers until i had been here quite a while. if a noob is lucky enough to manage to get one, that's awesome!
and i want to say a big 'thank you' to those who do drop a few dollars on the game, which helps keep the space viable for all of us to enjoy.
Yeah you don't get what you want and have to wait for 6-8 hours. If you do find the right item, you may have enough for just one single buff or not even for a full one at all.
They didn't really think too much about this, unless it was one of their tricks to force us to spend gems on those boxes. If it is the latter, I wouldn't be surprised.
lol of course it was :) ive not done any of the advs yet, im going to save them up until i can make all the buffs, then prolly do them all in 1 day, while on premium.
i did open a few of those boxes, that part was kinda fun, seeing what u get.
do you have a good guild? many guilds will trade back no forth to get everyone what they need. send me a friend request, if i can help you in any way, id be happy to.
Just FYI, some of the issues with the worldwide championship event will be resolved in our maintenance tomorrow. Patch Notes
Technically it's not a 1% chance. It's like how I have a 45% chance of finding fast copper mines. Then fail 12 times in a row.
The calculations on the dotcom forum say that you can afford a single explorer based on soccer balls from the adventures. That means you need to find the rest, but I agree the pace of that is pretty slow. 3 balls at a time is terrible. You can buy a friary from the trade office for a market value that's probably significantly cheaper than the cost of 2499 soccer balls (on Ares at least), so I wouldn't bother with that unless the cost really collapses. Pricing is already in the low 20s, which is a lot better than it was during Easter at the same point in time, but it does not seem to be headed to mid-single digits.
I got decent deals for Easter eggs by the very end. Didn't quite touch the single digits I was expecting, but I was not too far off. I spent all my coins, including dumping a bunch of my resources, but it was well worth it. MMA and vet make a huge savings on troops.
I'm not bothering with more explorers yet. I will get 10 in time for Halloween, but for now I'm just saving up for a second gem pit.
I used Foul on two different defenders but they did not go away. They each had only one skill so the foul should have gotten rid of them.
