Ok, maybe someone can help me here. This time I got a screenshot but how do I attach it to a support ticket?
I'm not sure if this is related or not but shortly after I asked this question in help tab my chat server failed ... I didn't get any message about being banned.
Can any BBs possible shed some light on this issue?

Well one of the screenshots is of a moderator threatening to turn my chat off indefinitely and the other was what was shown in chat that supposedly induced that "final warning." (the first time any moderator has used the term 'warning')
I'm starting to think it's time to ask for my last 12 months of payments back as per Ubisoft's Terms of Use agreement and call it quits. This just plain sucks.
I have been hesitating to join this thread, as I have already posted my views on this program when this started. Furthermore with what I have gotten to see in game and experience, I am frankly sick of having to deal with the issue at all. My first impulse is to simply say "A pox on both of your houses". And for those reaching for the the excision tool or the report button, it is a SHAKESPEARE reference, get over it.
When working, at times the police bring in people who have been arrested for "medical clearance". From their reports of injuries, and the whole-heartedly expressed fact that they did nothing wrong, it would seem there is an epidemic of police brutality. Strangely I have never been called to testify for the multiple predicted lawsuits. Watching some of the events that have happened in global, it reminds me of the manned police barriers where protesters are throwing fruit. For those who can recall events such as these, they may also recall what inevitably happens when someone decides to exchange a tomato for a rock; it typically ends in tear gas and physical arrests of everyone involved. Unfortunately, the people who organize the protest, or even the person who handed the person on the front line a rock, rarely are the ones gassed, beaten, or arrested.
Several people have asked me for the links to the code of conduct, terms of service, and related things. At this point, it should not be the (former) Community Leaders that have these links; it would seem every one should have reread them by now. However, based on this thread alone, I am not convinced that any number of links or number of times reading will make a difference. One BB has already posted here, "Please keep in mind that posts naming and shaming particular players, in addition to posts questioning moderation activity will be removed, as per the Code of Conduct". Another BB has posted here, "Going in chat and complaining about the moderator, inciting a boycott, stirring up malcontent in general, or posting about moderation actions will get you a ban". Fortunately for me, I don't have to shame particular players as they seem able to do it themselves.
As for the Moderators, I have less to say to you than before, but only because this thread is already one-sided. I would like you to remember that the vocal minority does not necessarily represent the rest of us, and give the players the benefit of that. I am glad to see some interaction between you and the players, as it is nice to know you are trying to do things other than enforce discipline. The players lost a significant resource when the CL program was removed; unfortunately, you are our successors and the players still need someone who can distribute information when the game is performing less than optimally.

Living in the U.S., I have become accustomed to enjoying uncensored freedom of speech. If the waiter at my favorite restaurant sucks, I complain. That's the only way the problem gets fixed. If a cop is acting unprofessionally then I'd report it. If a doctor, nurse or other health care provider provides substandard care, I complain. The only thing that sweeping a problem under the rug and being quiet about it does is exacerbate and prolong the problem. Wonder what would have happened in 1939 or so if someone had the courage to stand up to a tyrant who was exercising some pretty poor judgement did so? Maybe a whole lot of folks would have gotten behind that person and prevented a catastrophe.
As Plinkerton said, maybe time to ask for a refund and move on.
I believe you can't get a refund. Don't you agree so in the ToS?
When I first got banned the mod referred to a Settlers ToS. I have never found a "Terms of Service" for the settlers, I did however find a "Terms of Usage" from Ubisoft. That was the best I could find. You will have to read it yourself and come to your own conclusion but mediation may be the path of least resistance at this point.Quote:

You don't need chat evidence or screen captures. When you submit a complaint, all you need to do is include the name of the mod, the server name, and the time (with timezone) that it happened. BB can go back and look at any chat, any whisper, any guild chat at any time and they can verify whether the ban was valid and whether or not you got a warning. So, don't let the lack of screen captures stop you from submitting the complaint.Quote:

First I have a question, since Mods are not employees of Bb/Ubi is it ok to post convos that have been held with them in non warning situations? Because if it is I have couple that I would like to post that would reflect the true attitude that certain mods treat us with.

Pochucker, any post with the intention of 'calling someone out' or stirring up drama by posting private conversations is against the rules. Since you've used a name in your post, it will likely be removed, as would any that involve conversations with mods. I would suggest that you send those conversations to the BBs for review.
You are allowed to comment and give constructive feedback about the volunteer moderation program - NOT on individual moderators. Any individual concerns you have about a certain moderator and their actions must go through the proper channels - i.e. the Support team and to BB_Susurrously, who has promised that all of such concerns will be personally investigated by her.
That being said, I will be reviewing this thread more thoroughly and removing any posts that are about particular moderators or about specific moderator actions.
As it is one subject that has come up in this thread, I will clarify on the posting of outside links in the public forum. The original rule read as follows:
Software piracy, illegal software, advertisement, or links are not welcome.
Any requests, promotion, advertising or linking of content protected by copyright for illegal purposes is strictly forbidden. These rules also apply to leaks and other Internet software obtained illegally. Advertising anything that is not related to TSO can result in a ban. Advertising other video games, any other websites, youtube channels or any products is forbidden. Third party web links, URLs, etc. are forbidden unless specifically authorized by the Admin/BB Staff or Moderators.
The working rule was that sites dedicated to The Settlers Online, including fan and guide sites, were authorized by the BB staff. However, it was brought to the attention of the moderators that the rule was not being applied uniformly and that other sites were being "allowed" without the policy being changed. Therefore, the rule above was reviewed by the collective staff, and a less restrictive one was agreed upon. While the text of the final rule has not yet been published, the BB staff has instructed us continue to allow links to outside websites that are content appropriate for the game. Links that are inappropriate for a PEGI7 (Euro) or PG (US) are still not permitted, and posting inappropriate links can result in sanctions against individual players. Inappropriate links can be reported using the /report feature within the game.
This should hopefully clear up any continued confusion regarding the link posting. I would like to thank Pochucker for bringing the matter to the attention of the moderators with the ultimate result of a less restrictive public chat environment. Please refer to the forum Codes of Conduct section for the final version of the rule when it is posted.

I see a double standard in the execution of the moderator program which in my opinion needs be addressed. That double standard is in the enforcement of the Codes of Conduct. My observation has been that those players that “chum up” to the mods have the ability to violate the Code of Conduct while those players that provide critical review are harassed. I can see a valid reason to censor and not allow complete freedom of speech and I can respect that. I cannot, however, see a valid reason for moderators to persecute certain players while others are able to repeat similar transgressions without repercussions.
I’m not a bad person. Since I have been playing the Settlers Online I have often successfully helped people in Global-1 who were being trolled or harassed. I imagine there are a few people on Ares who would vouch for me.
This is a game. It is supposed to be fun. For whatever reason (feeling targeted perhaps?), I actually cringed and my heart jumped when the notification for an extra maintenance popped up… I was afraid, scared, that I had been sent to solitary confinement again. Making this comment in Global-1 (yeah I wasn't thinking) is what I believe is the reason I’m indefinitely without any chat what-so-ever...in an online game… I think you see my point. I don’t know for sure because no notification box came up … my chat just went away and has never came back.
Perhaps the mod was thinking about what I said in global and didn't want to give me a heart attack, I don’t know. If that was the case I guess I owe you a thanks.
Maybe it would help the moderators if they remember that we are not their subordinates but rather their fellow settlers. Indiscriminate displays of the powers entrusted to you "to show who's boss!" will only undermine our respect for you and cause turmoil.
Maybe we should step back and try to remember what the original goals of the Moderators are:

thank you for that clarification Magenta. so its ok to post a link to a funny cartoon or a music video as long as its PG? that's how i and i think many had interpreted the rule to begin with...dont advertise other games or illegal stuff, and keep it clean.
VERY WELL SAID!! kudos for the well thought out response plink!! I thought i had been banned again as well when it popped up and almost started crying i was so mad LOL...Hope these issues can be cleared up soon. I would really like to enjoy chat again. Perhaps if my suggestion of having an adult only room was given thought it may help out some ppl that just wanna talk to their friends with no worries of being scrutinized:)Quote:

We are not asking for "adult chatroom" A better description is "non modded". I know they exist but unfortanately in todays lazy world the effort it takes to access one is deemed excessive by many --sort of like finding the help channel for many. Would like to see alternate global as a tab and when you click on it and enter it a message pops up something like "This is non modded chat" "Only in cases of reported harassment will Mods be involved"
Would solve many of current problems.

Under the current Code of Conduct, Globals 2 - 30 are generally unmoderated. As you may note from the information in the Codes of Conduct section of the forum, the guildline clarifications are entitled "Global-1, Help, and Trade Tab Guidelines". The moderators do have access to all of the global channels, but generally action will only be taken in response to a request or report of players. Outright harassment or disruptive behavior is not acceptable anywhere in the game, and is still reportable by players. Players should remember that participation in the other global channels is voluntary and at their own risk.
In other words, the Global channels 2-30 can be thought of as adult chat rooms, as long as players can act like adults.

You were being positive to the response about how hard it is to type /j global-2 . Pochucker's point was it's not hard. But you get deprived of the right to view the main global when you leave for another one. If you are gonna be restricted to chat certain stuff on global-1 have another tab to be able to chat other stuff there. Like you have trade chat. Tab next to global one would have you view Whichever other global you like.Quote:

*sigh* No one said it was "hard" to get to get to alternate global now. Is it hard to get to the "help" tab? No but many many cant or won't do it.
Scientist is correct we still want to be able to see the regular global.
And yellow if your philosophy is always settle for what you have to work with then progress would never be made in this world. But more importantly it should be a priority because bottom line is players are leaving everyday and revenue dropping so pretty soon we wont have what we currently do. As much as some people want it to this issue is not going away.
So another words we got the mod program because of all the complaints about global (not my words) now that we have it I guess there is no more reporting. But I know thats not true so then it appears that its only not ok for one of the regular chatters to complain since we know the regular lurkers still complain regularly. Now talk about harassment!
I agree with Pochucker. It would be hard to say that I didn't after putting it on my CL card. Having lurkers who wait for others to do things so they can be reported undermines the community and is harassment to everyone.
I don't see moderators do anything effective, ever. I've seen BB's and moderators beg people to stop chatting in trade channel. Followers ask, leaders command. Issue some 1-week chat bans publicly and all that trade-channel spam goes away today.
We players, who pay for it when you moderators and BB's are weak about rule enforcement, are on the losing end of this spam, every single day. Please do what your position requires, what the community empowered you to do in the first place.
Again, conversation in the help and trade channel is permitted as long as it does not interfere with the primary purpose of the channel. With the activity commonly seen in the trade channel, conversation is unfortunately more apt to interfere. The threshold for when it is interfering is usually determined by the other players in the room, who request assistance when others don't return to trading with player requests. Typically, problems in the trade channel comes from players getting carried away with the conversations rather than a specific intent to disrupt the room, and really does not warrant being removed from chat unless the players involved continue the same behavior or escalate to something worse. As multiple players are typically involved in the conversations, a gentle general reminder to the channel typically brings things back into focus, rather than individual warnings or chat restrictions. This does not imply an unwillingness to take further action, if needed, just restraint in taking it unnecessarily.
Just a reminder that although everyone is entitled to an opinion, this thread needs to be kept constructive and not destructive. Naming and shaming or discussing moderator actions will be removed. This is the final warning before this thread is closed.

The players that request assistance usually complain if a single word is said, while saying nothing themselves.
Better to have the mod use their judgement then to rely on such players.
