I am someone who in my life was lucky enough to be able to buy two gem pits and then to use those pits to build it up to where I eventually had ten. When I lost my last pit and wanted to go get another I figured out the limit is ten period.. ever.
Does anyone know the purpose behind that and if we can be in a place to revisit the policy? If I want to buy gems I dont possibly see how it is hurting the game to be able to buy more after youve had your ten.

your wrong.... "ten period... ever." like i said your wrong, if u played the game for a while you would know the max was originally 5 then it was raised last year to 10, i suspect come later this year (a month or so before halloween) the limit will be upped again to by 5 to make it 15.
I have played since 2012 I think my confusion came in that even when one runs out on your island you cant replace it with anyone one if you have already had ten. But i get what you are saying
What did you spend 400,000 gems on?
first 2 pits zero( had to have gems to start)
next 8 pits 160k
copper mines 60k
vet 5k ( i think)
1 year prem 20k

friarys, schools, watermills, improved silos, second MMA, I could spend over 400k easy.
400k would be plenty for me, at least for now. Of course, as more things are released, the cost will increase, but hopefully so, too, will the limit of gem pits. It makes sense to have a limit on pits, though. Otherwise, the amount of gems becomes essentially infinite for anyone willing to be patient and wait and reinvest gems into more pits.
I also give gem gifts and use them as prizes in guild contests, so its not really all about me.
I wish I had one.Are they ever gonna have one at special event?

Atleast for me, a steady income on gems is very important as I consume gems on events, new items and special offers, but besides that I can help out my guild quickly by completing the guild quest with gems which is an recurring event.
Also during events I might see it valuable enough to speed up the progress of some explorers or speed up the books production which is also a never ending story :)
So just to see, there are always recurring events, new items, events, special boxes for limited time in the shop and more, even gemspree's on auctions
BB should realize that not all players spend gems on a one-time basis, and gempits are a incredibly important factor to keep players playing because the system of paying for something and get it slowly back with a profit ratio gives you a solid base of players that will always stay and spend.
If you won't increase the gempit limit or make them unlimited, eventually the gempit players will dry up and leave the game, and believe me, that will hurt the wallets of BB.
Also another thing and suggestion, about a year after the gempits got invented, there came another invention, time-limited items, examples will be several of the epic items that you can buy with starcoins, like the catapults for example, another example are the gempits from the test server which you can buy once per week.
This is a way of making semi-unlimited items, so in fact, you can always buy the item, but only after the cooldown timer expired.
Why not make gempits time-limited? like you can buy one each 2 months or something, then the whole problem will be solved :)
Players can not abuse the function by massively buying gempits and the timer wont make the item limited and players can be buying gempits for as long they see fit, so in fact, you can always buy gempits that way, but not too many, to me it sounds as the perfect solution to more heavily paying players and not outbalancing the game.
Think about this, and please pass it on BB :)
Last time they increased from 5 to 10 was just as the pits crashed ( If you bought them on day one) so My guess would be 4 months from now for any more
I bought enough gems for a single gem pit, and now I'm just waiting to be able to get another and then have it snowball from there. I can wait. The only thing I bought so far is a jolly geologist, which is great. Of course, I realize I will be waiting several months for this strategy to actually pay off, and by then there's a good chance I'll be tired of the game or close to it, though rushing all the way to 50 would burn me out a lot quicker.
FYI if ur tight on gems and would like to save gems for more pits (i have used up 10 gem pits, i have a feeling in 4months like artillerist said, 5 more will be availible so i am putting 100k gems aside from my current pits to get the 5 more) DO NOT BUY UNLIMITED ITEMS WITH GEMS! (which also means dont sell your gems for gc or resources). Ofcourse your gems are your own so u can do whatever you like with them, so take what i said or leave it, no difference to me.
